  • Jesus admonishes St. Peter saying, "you are not thinking as God does, but as human beings do". Fr. Bill preaches on ways we fall into thinking about our faith in God by Human Standards and ways in which we can think more like God, using God's standards.

Father, you hit the nail on the head. We prefer Jesus to be quick to forgive and then let us move on. But Jesus wants more - He wants our love and our fidelity. He wants us to trust Him completely. And we wants to love others and not count the cost.

Another great homily, Father Bill! People need to read what Jeremiah 23:16-22 says about prophets and compare it to what our very own Church leaders (priests, bishops and the pope) are teaching today. According to the word of God, there are many in Church leadership, who if they don't repent and teach the real word of God, may not end up going where they want to go. Jeremiah 21:1 says, "Woe to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the flock of my pasture". Jer 23:2 "You have scattered my sheep and driven them away. You have not cared for them, but I will take care to punish your evil deeds." God goes on to say that he will gather his flock back into their folds and he will raise new shepherds to shepherd the flock, so the flock no longer must be afraid. God then foretells the coming of Jesus. Based on God's own word in The Book of the Prophet Jeremiah, God is hurt and is very unhappy with what some shepherds in the Church are teaching because their words are not his words. (cont.…)

(…cont.) This is where Jeremiah 23:16 comes in:
"Thus says the LORD of hosts: Do not listen to the words of your prophets, who fill you with emptiness; They speak visions from their own fancy, not from the mouth of the LORD. 17 They say to those who despise the word of the LORD, “Peace shall be yours”; And to everyone who walks in hardness of heart, “No evil shall overtake you.” 18 Now, who has stood in the council of the LORD, to see him and to hear his word? Who has heeded his word so as to announce it? 19 See, the storm of the LORD! His wrath breaks forth in a whirling storm that bursts upon the heads of the wicked. 20 The anger of the LORD shall not abate until he has carried out completely the decisions of his heart. In days to come you will understand fully. 21 I did not send these prophets, yet they ran; I did not speak to them, yet they prophesied. 22 Had they stood in my council, they would have proclaimed my words to my people. They would have brought them back from their evil ways and from their wicked deeds". (cont.…)

(…cont.) I was absolutely appalled when I read that Pope Francis recently told a homosexual man from Chile that "God made you like this, and he loves you". This was said in a private conversation and The Vatican said it cannot confirm anything Pope Francis says in private, but they haven't claimed the quote is false. Someone would have to explain to me how and why what Pope Francis said is not both blasphemy and heresy. God does not create sin. God made it quite clear in Leviticus 20:13 what his views on homosexuality are. "If a man lies with a male as with a woman, they have committed an abomination; the two of them shall be put to death; their bloodguilt is upon them". Homosexuality is a cross man must bear, but one he must not act upon. People need to realize the word of God does not need to conform to man. Man must conform to the word of God.
