so i went through this dungeon for the first time yesterday and let me tell you, this music actually gave me the confidence to pull big and actually tank well
Funny you say that: I'm a huge coward who fears tanking so much, but I got Doma Castle THREE TIMES! I remember being like "Man, I'm so close to leveling up, and the Challenge Log ensures that whatever dungeon gets picked, I shall level up! So go ahead Copperbell! *Doma Castle* *I scream in fear* "
I dont mind this dungeon, but whenever I seem to get it, there's at least one person who whines about it and how long it's gonna take etc etc like shush.
This is one of my favorite pieces in the game to this day. A lot of people wish this was more foreboding or chaotic, but that's not really the point of Doma Castle as a story beat. Doma Castle in the story is where everything comes together for the Doman Liberation Front, where they finally get the best chance they're ever going to get to kick Garlemald out and run things themselves, and it has a very real pprobability of succeeding because not only do they have their leader and probably single best strategic mind back at the front in Hien, but also the aid of the Scions, the Confederacy, the Blue Kojin and the Steppe tribes, and, last but certainly not least, the Warrior of fuckin' Light. It's a day of celebration, because we're going to kick Garlemald out of Doma and look cool as fuck doing so.
What a pleasant surprise this theme was. I was kinda expecting a more somber tone, but I'm glad they went for a more upbeat and intense theme--much more fun.
Just ran this on my first playthrough!! I thought the same, but then realized it fits the overall Resolve/Personality of Hien IMO. Jaunty, yet determined
Yeah, it was a genuine surprise there. Though in Hien's mind, he likely thought the castle would be a small price to pay to regain their independence. Plus, it's not like they couldn't just replace it at a later date, so I can see how the music here is still so energetic.
@@omegalock27 "Though in Hien's mind, he likely thought the castle would be a small price to pay to regain their independence." Hien actually explains his line of thinking to Gosetsu shortly before the siege. In his mind, a nation is more than symbols and landmarks. A nation is what its people make of it.
Doma Castle is a powerful dungeon to me, because it's where it all began for the Yugiri days of ARR. Only hearing about how Doma was razed and it's people were enslaved by the Garlean empire, yet a world away from being able to do anything about it. Until now. As for the song; it's all about momentum. It made me feel like the very water used to flood the castle; unstoppable and ready to crash through soldier after soldier on the way to victory.
For me, it signals the tides have finally turned! It is time for FULL DOMA LIBERATION FROM THE GARLEANS! Break up the Garlean foundations! We will rebuild our own nation, NOW GET THE HELL OUT!
Battles in the air, soldiers running around, wide spread destruction, but the Warriors of Light waltz in like: sup? I love this theme and don't agree it clashes. You're liberating Doma after 20 or however many years, it's time to party.
Someone else mentioned that this piece makes it feel like you already have the advantage, and yes, it does. Because you absolutely do have the advantage during the Siege of Doma Castle. Alphinaud and Hien made damn sure of that.
this affects me the same way that under the weight (titan) also does. It makes me 1. play at least 50% more efficient and 2. groove along the music at the same time :D

So I have a small confession. First time this song started playing and through the dungeon i was crying because how this made me felt. Listening to this song, you can just imagine everyone doing their part to drive out the empire and how you managed to bring them all together to fight, the battle anthem of a collective nation that wants to be free. I like to think that this game takes place many many years after the events of Final Fantasy 6. Or at least an alternate universe where kefka failed to gain the power to become a god of magic separating the war Triad and the Empire of Vector fell to the returners after the Esper's annihilated the city with the emperor in it
At the beginning I was like "What??!!! Samba??? But then the Yanxia theme started withing the remix and I was like WOAH!!! I fell immediately in love with it!! Let's liberate Doma!!!
Makes me think of Legend of the Mystical Ninja. I love it so much.
If only they made a mount with this theme running daily I would be so so sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo in love.
I hope they play this live at the next Fan Fest
I can't help but bop along to this - it's so catchy! :D
its always good to get this song when running heaven on high.
easily my favorite song from stormblood
It’s just like... intense mini-game music. It really picks my vibe up
Certified bop
Literally bringing the House down
The first few trash mobs of this dungeon is where you figure out what type of Healer you have & how confident your Tank is!🤘🏼😎☘️
every time I get this dungeon in roulette, I always say "VIVA LA REVOLUTION!"
Considering the context for this dungeon, this theme is really chill.
This sounds like something coming out of Samurai Warriors and I'm all here for it
Love how funky this theme is. Reminds me of the old Streets of Rage games, oddly enough.
When I first did this dungeon I was like.... doesn't this sound like Copacabana LOLOL
Lol, also those violin-flute combos at moments, reminded me the music of bands like Rinôçérôse.
GIVE ME THE ORCHESTRION ROLL ALREADY YOSHIDA-SAN! PLEASE!
It's nice seeing the others like Lyse fighting in the background
Getting serious Ragnarok Online vibes here
kinda agree and it absolutly doesnt fit the dungeon as well xD
Wow! Same here! I thought of Comodo theme which is similar to this.
