No matter what for $35K in this size car and comfort and get 40MPG CITY YOU HAVE TO FEEL GREAT ABOUT THAT. Thats Double what I get in the City and 10 more on the highway for the same size car as I have. The Azera looks nice as well but this looks more refined. I grew to like the interior of this new Avalon.
We only recommend the cars when we produce a full review. The First Drive means we get to spend only a few hours with the car....at most. It would not be fair to you or the car to try to recommend a rating after such a short time behind the wheel.
I'm definitely consider this Avalon hybrid. It's got what I am looking for. It's luxurious, great mpg, big or long, seat 5 large happy large adults, dual climate, back up camera and navigation. Sunroof. And Best of all I just found one for a little over 10 grand.
We currently have a 2009 Prius. Want more comfort and the Avalon definitely has that. Love the adjustable lumbar and vented seats, plus the arm rests are usable. Even more comfortable than the Lexus ES300, because the center arm rest is able to slide forward so that you can actually rest your elbow and still hold onto the wheel. Plus they styled the Lexus door armrest so that it tapered toward the rear for looks, but not comfort. Rented one for two days an averaged 38MPG, love it.
In the U.S. diesels have a bad reputation for being slow and dirty. We're not saying they are but that is the popular perception of many new car buyers. We also have very stringent emission laws that make diesels more expensive to import. And unlike in Europe where diesel is cheaper because it is taxed less than petroleum, in the U.S. diesel is more expensive....so that's why hybrids are becoming more popular.
What a luxurious interior. Wife wants a Camry because it fits her small frame so well, but we are seriously thinking about fitting one of these before signing any papers.
Love all of your videos! But the editing make it look like if you were on a green screen instead of really beside or in the car but otherwise great video!
I like going through water and mud the most in jeep compass . It gets you anywhere . It can go through anything and 20 feet water, NATHAN AND ROMAN PLEASE MAKE A CAR REVIEW ON JEEP COMPASS. ALSO WHERE DO U GET THESE CARS TO DO REVIEWS ON THEM?
I test drove one before getting my avalon limited v6 and I couldn't get near the 40/39 highway and city. Here in Texas Highway 75 and in Sherman Tx. The outside temp was 65 f and the best I got in a day was 33 highway and 30 city. So why pay more if I didn't see the 40/39 mpg.
Don't understand your mileage. We have owned our 2013 since new and with 85k miles it has always got 41 mpg all around (about 50/50 city and highway). In South Carolina.
Since you mention Camry Hybrid as competitor then also add Fusion hybrid, MKZ hybrid (same base price) and Sonata Hybrid. Looks like you haven't done a review yet of the new MKZ hybrid.
Dont forget that the imperial gallon is bigger then the american gallon, a 40 mpg in europe is a 32 or so in america, and there is diference between fuels because of the emission control that makes cars use more fuel, plus the fact that in europe a 2.0 diesel its a good motor, americans need a 3.5 petrol at least, 0-60 in 9 sec is fast in europe, in america nothing over 6 secs is considered fast even for commuting cars, details that make dificult to really compare cars in europe in america.
Love the reviews guy's but how come American's don't like diesel for economy? Over here in the UK most big saloons/sedans with a diesel engine would be getting between 40 & 50+mpg at less cost than a hybrid.
UK gallons are different that US gallons.....I know it sounds weird, but they are. 1 US gallon is equal to .83 UK gallon. So it is kind of hard to compare the two unless you convert them to the same, whether that be UK or US gallons.
I don't get it either. I live in the US and I'm a huge fan of diesel cars but for some reason they aren't selling in the US. One of my favorite diesels are the BMW 335D and the VW passat TDI SEL.
BMW & VW make some lovely diesel units, very refined quiet powerfull with lots of torque as does Mercedes. Citroen have just brought out a DS5 Hybrid4 200bhp diesel electric that has co2 under 100 and free road tax (in uk emissions equate to a tax on your car you have to pay yearly £0 for the citroen and £200 for my Volvo for example) so economy is very important in the UK.
TFL really needs to restructure the format of their videos. Cameramen is not good, and the editing department is behind the competition. Good information, great hosts, but the camera/editing department needs to improve.
Very nice , but I hope the LCD displays work better than the LCD display in my PRIUS in COLD weather.T 40 degrees and below the displays, well, they don't display.Think of that. Other than that Toyota you can NOT go wrong!!!!
Ooh really nice. I don't know a lot about Citroens because we dont't have them here in the states. I drive a 2013 VW CC V6 and I love the car. I wish they made a CC in diesel though because I only get 17/23 mpg in my car. Europeans make the best cars imo. I'm not a fan of American cars at all.
Toyota provides full-size trunk, trunk pass-through, and an actual spare tire. Honda gives you fix-a-fiat, a fixed rear seat, and 4 cu. ft. less trunk space than the non-hybrid.
I saw the Avalon at Toyota Dealer. It is very impressive except the front grill, looks very very ugly, I mean, it is ugly and make me changed my mind to purchase one.
Thanks, we produce many videos and every-so-often we get a bit creative with the editing.

Thanks for the info. I love watching these videos only to see the differences between us in Europe and the US.
If I knew they where coming out with this one year later, I never would've got the 2012 camary hybird. I would've saved up and got this bad boy.
Did u eventually get it
Don't forget about the Buick LaCrosse eAssist. The city mileage isn't as strong (25 mpg). However, the highway mileage is quite competitive at 37 mpg.
What a luxurious interior. Wife wants a Camry because it fits her small frame so well, but we are seriously thinking about fitting one of these before signing any papers.
27Zangle What did you get?
Nathan: what kind of cars do you own ? Do you off road alot. I off road often in Colorado with a Jeep Compass

Looks a lot like the new Azera. The rear kind of reminds me of a Jaguar to! You guys are the best on car reviews. Always entertaining!

max ramirez that's sad, I live in this area as well and was anticipating this car to hit the suggested EPA numbers

"We made the trim levels really simple... there's basically seven" um... okay
the square headlight thingys, are those the same as the 13 Accord V6 Touring?

it's not all about just sraight highway numbers. Hybrid cars get wayyy better city numbers/combined numbers.
I don't get it either. I live in the US and I'm a huge fan of diesel cars but for some reason they aren't selling in the US. One of my favorite diesels are the BMW 335D and the VW passat TDI SEL.

Why would you not subscribe to this channel? Another great job by Roman and Nathan. Please do a review of the 2013 Audi Q5. Thanks guys
Still looking like a Ford Fusion. Especially with the Aston Martin grill.

Nathan rocks
i think they only do that for reviews.. this was a first drive
Very nice , but I hope the LCD displays work better than the LCD display in my PRIUS in COLD weather.T 40 degrees and below the displays, well, they don't display.Think of that. Other than that Toyota you can NOT go wrong!!!!
how come you guys dont do buy it lease it rent it 4get it anymore
Just won a fully load 2013 Avalon hybrid plus two years free satellite radio, of a scratch ticket I found on the ground.
Better vid

I've seen a few Toyota hybrids that go faster mainly the Camry and the highlander.
I'd take an Accord Hybrid Touring over this - better 0-60, better MPG, luxurious...
Toyota provides full-size trunk, trunk pass-through, and an actual spare tire. Honda gives you fix-a-fiat, a fixed rear seat, and 4 cu. ft. less trunk space than the non-hybrid.
Honda is c piece of crap cheap interior feels like shit Toyota is way better all around
wow

Wtf is up with the editing?
Sexy ASS car :)

Good lord that interior is awful
ANNOYING!
