Some people didn't really understand the point of this sketch. This is referring to companies and MLMs that claim to empower women. She literally makes a point that there is no payed family leave. This reminds me a lot of people who spits out things like "If you can't handle me at my worst, you don't deserve me at my best!" / "What you see is what you get", which is basically just a way to say "I am a horrible person and I OWN IT!"
Well, some people are, at their worst, insecure, easily angered, depressed, stressed, controlling or stubborn, things I will gladly bear with, if they are good friends, otherwise. And when I get what I see, that is fine, too. I had awful people as friends. But I knew they were awful when I befriended them and they never acted like their awfulness was something good or noble.

@Michael Freed while I'm fairly sure you're a Russian bot, I also have to respond in good faith just in case: while in an ideal world everyone who learns about feminism can talk about its nuances at length, not everyone has the education or the time to go in depth about every aspect of what's an enormous and complex system of values. Even if your average Joe doesn't know what feminism is beyond its most basic tenets - gender equality and respecting women, for example, it's better that someone knows what's right about it and put that into practice even if they can't, say, explain how it developed historically, how it has influenced different parts of the world, etc. It's just good for people to know what's right when it comes to daily life. And know when feminism, which has basically good tenets, is twisted into something not aligned with what it's ideally supposed to be.

Feminism is an odd word where you really have to use all the verbal and non verbal cues to determine if the person means it as a positive or negative thing. Then maybe dig a little to see what they mean by it. It's a word that no longer works to describe a thing
This is one of the best CH videos in a long time. It's on YoutUbe, so, unfortunately, it will probably be bombarded with neckbeards saying things like "Feminism in a nutshell lol" but the message is actually pro-feminist. Calling yourself a feminist doesn't mean anything, you have to put in the work and be a positive role model. I'm a feminist myself so it's good to see ill-intended bandwagon jumpers called out.

The person in this video, for example, has ill intentions. She wants to be rich and treat people like shit, so she uses feminism as a cloaking mechanism. Most feminists who have done the reading and who actually care about feminism will give you similar, although admittedly sometimes a little different, answers.

I had a job interview that was a little bit like this. The guy had everybody take a personality test, which can be valuable. But this meant everything. He was honest about the fact that if you get a certain personality, you just wouldn’t be considered. Period. Basically, he said he like to be in charge, and the people that work for him need to be people who didn’t like to be in charge or question. And knowing yourself is OK to a point. But he had no plans to try to improve himself even a little. And he told people not to cheat, because it wouldn’t work. But since the other personality types are so much less likely to endlessly please others, they weren’t going to be calling back anyway.

I bought the book "Men Explain Things to Me," but needed help finding it in store. The male salesperson helped me but then asked if I had seen some Beyonce feminist video. I said no and he went on about how it changed his life, yadda yadda. I finally looked it up, and it was a video of Beyonce with text of the most generic feminist things ever. Just reminded of that while watching this. Glad it "changed his life" though. 🤣

This is one of the best CH videos in a long time. It's on YoutUbe, so, unfortunately, it will probably be bombarded with neckbeards saying things like "Feminism in a nutshell lol" but the message is actually pro-feminist. Calling yourself a feminist doesn't mean anything, you have to put in the work and be a positive role model. I'm a feminist myself so it's good to see ill-intended bandwagon jumpers called out.
@Michael Freed But I would argue that feminism does have meaning, and those other people who have different definitions are either listening to anti-feminist propaganda or have ill intentions. The person in this video, for example, has ill intentions. She wants to be rich and treat people like shit, so she uses feminism as a cloaking mechanism. Most feminists who have done the reading and who actually care about feminism will give you similar, although admittedly sometimes a little different, answers.

@Michael Freed I'm not trying to fight with you. Honestly, I'm not even sure what you're trying to say. Sure, language warps people's thinking about things, and if that's what you're trying to say then I concede it to be true. I'm really not trying to be combative here, I merely thought you were saying that feminism is worthless because the meaning of the word changes from person to person. If that wasn't your intent then I apologize, and even if it were your intent it's an interesting point to think about, though I'm not sure I agree with it.
I had a job interview that was a little bit like this. The guy had everybody take a personality test, which can be valuable. But this meant everything. He was honest about the fact that if you get a certain personality, you just wouldn’t be considered. Period.
Basically, he said he like to be in charge, and the people that work for him need to be people who didn’t like to be in charge or question. And knowing yourself is OK to a point. But he had no plans to try to improve himself even a little.
And he told people not to cheat, because it wouldn’t work. But since the other personality types are so much less likely to endlessly please others, they weren’t going to be calling back anyway.

People will use this to insist all the feminists they don't like are malicious frauds. For the record, this clearly isn't intended as an indictment of "third wave feminism" or anything like that. Nor should it be used to dismiss all female CEOs. Instead it's pointing out that a woman being successful does not make her a good feminist and that CEOs often pretend to be progressive or nice, but they are often just as bad as their counterparts.

shihoblade can you link the anti man-spreading chairs? I saw something like this on reddit, turns out those chairs were only a piece of art made by an innocent person. Lots of people were largely mistaken. I searched it up myself, and those exact chairs appear. They aren’t “anti-man spreading” chairs. They were a piece of art to show the stereotypes of society. Bewilders me on the amount of people that will blindly jump on a bandwagon with no research.
shihoblade I get why that thing would make men angry, but I don’t think they should direct their anger at feminism. A lot of feminists fight for really important women’s rights, so opposing feminism because you’re angry at annoying feminists can have a negative impact on the ‘positive parts’ of the movement.
