This is beautiful. And, the control he maintains throughout the song while also letting so much emotion flow through every word is masterful. And, I am just amazed to see the full range of what he performed so well, and live, in the sit-down portions of this Comeback Special. --Marie
What a tear-jerker!! Gorgeous, LUSH song!! That lucky girl in blue he's singing to. Ahh!!! Always chokes me up. And the serious delivery of Elvis. He loves it too, you can tell.
You scared me. This is one of my very favorites by Elvis. This is around the time he decided he wouldn't sing anything he didn't like (once he got out of the movie contract). The way you feel about this is what Elvis is all about. He makes every song his very own.
Awww what a lovely reaction Elvis just touches your soul with his interpretation of love songs he was a sensitive and emotional man and I've got to say i think you are too with your reactions well done Seph
One of my absolute favorite Elvis songs!!! After Elvis died, I wept in my room listening to this song over and over-still brings tears to my eyes. Then my oldest son chose this song for our mother/son dance at his wedding, a surprise to me. It was lovely.
Ooooh, I love that phrase "every word is a symphony". I have to remember that one! The reason it seems like he must have written it is because he is a master at interpretation. One of his musicians, maybe Glen Hardin, said when he learned a song it went to his brain, then to his heart and then came out of his mouth. Imagine sitting that close and having him sing and smile at you like that. I'd be a goner. So happy you loved this beautiful song.❤❤❤
@:A showmanship shone with charisma, energy, unique style, audience connection, stage banter, unpredictability, and versatility, making him a legendary
Memories was written by Billy Strange and Mac Davis. Mac wrote several great songs for Elvis, the ones you heard is A Little Less Conversation and you mentioned you've heard In The Ghetto, there's more Mac songs in the future. That reaction title was sneaky you fooled me and I like it. This was a great ballad about looking back on your life. Isn't it great to hear a completely new Elvis song among the hits. Yet another heartfelt reaction, you are doing great. You are the worlds best reactor and you proove it with every reaction. I'm so happy you took a likeness to Elvis, he deserves the best.
His voice is for real. His record was not much different than this version. Absolutely beautiful and a tribute to the growth of Elvis’ ability to emotionally connect to his music and fans listening to him.
You and I are on the same page, it is a song that makes people understand the meaning of life.i want it to be played at my funeral too. I love making memories “to press between the pages of my mind” with my family and friends. So important 🙏👌🕺
Me to loved him since I was 11 years old still luv him now at nearly 60 his music gets me through good and bad times and still does nobody comes close luv u elvis god bless
My most loved Elvis song. The way he sings it, his voice so caring and sincere. Not just a banger, it’s atomic !! You’ll never forget this one Seph👌💕🕺🙏
Great reaction Seph as you say to a masterpiece. I finish off one of my home made DVD's with this song as audio to film panning all his golden discs etc. in the trophy room at Graceland from across the world, and it evokes a degree of sadness that it is all over.
I've heard this lovely song before and I'm watching someone else watching a recording for a TV show released 55 years ago and I'm still getting goosebumps. Elvis Presley, people, Elvis Presley. This is such a treat! Thank you Seph.
This truly is a masterpiece song. So incredibly beautiful! But I gotta say, if I were one of those girls next to him they would’ve had to scrape me off like a barnacle! 😅. I don’t think I would’ve survived! This song always brings me to tears.
From the wonderful Mac Davis that wrote in the Ghetto. The Gorgeous melody written for the beautiful voice of Elvis, It can lift you up, but is sorta sad. No one does it justice but THE Elvis. thanks Seph.
I love this song! I played it at my wedding in honor of my dad who passed away beforehand. He taught me everything I know about the Elvis and introduced me to his wonderful music that I grew up with. Needless to say I cried my eyes out! ❤️❤️❤️
Used "Memories" in a pictorial montage for my beloved spouse's Memorial Service 2 years ago this month. First time listening to it since; painful yet beautiful at the same time.
I think he really felt this one, I think he might have thought of his mother. He never got over her. Passionately done. Memories of a simpler time, I as an older person know what he is trying to say. I totally agree it's a masterpiece. Thank you.
Ray from Vibe reactions reacted to this song too and wondered what was going through Elvis' mind when he was singing this song with his eyes closed....I spontaneously thought of his mom Gladys.
Another amazing song penned by the late great Mac Davis, masterfully sung by Elvis! I have to admit to throwing my hands up when I read the caption, but it’s all good now!
Someone from his group shared that these two girls had become friends of Elvis' at the Graceland gate (just friends). Another little story about this. It was said that Elvis was wriggling around a little while sitting, almost appeared to be a little uncomfortable, changing positions until he finally stood. The story goes that the unlined leather was pinching him in certain areas making him uncomfortable.
This was eventually used by Kodak for decades because of their photos and memories connection. Written by Mac Davis, same writer as In the Ghetto, Don’t Cry Daddy and many others that he sang himself were hits. Like Don’t Get Hooked on Me etc. Elvis later sang this at quite a few of his earlier concerts. Sam Phillips said once to him all your concert shows are great but you got to drop Memories & Elvis said Nope, I really like the song. It was him calling the shots now in choosing his music. Finally ! Thank goodness. I agree. A Masterpiece. 👏👏👏👏👏👏‼️❗️🎁🎁🌹🌹🌹🌹🎸🕺🏻😳
The way you understand all the feels that you're meant to have watching and listening to Elvis made me subscribe to this channel. I can't wait to see what's next! Amazing reaction to this beautiful song and man!
Oh Seph, l love watching ur reactions all the time and this is the first time l must disagree with u this is a beautiful banger could listen to this all day
Mac Davis wrote this song hevwrote many songs Elvis would sing from 68 on! Very deep song writer sung by a deep beautiful singer ❤! This one makes me cry because hes so veautiful and i remember all the beautiful memories of my grandmother's and mom and dad who are gone
One of my favorites.. It's such a beautiful song and, of course, his voice is perfection. There's a video of him singing this with video of him with Priscilla and Lisa Marie.. hits my heart.
Beautiful song. Not one of my favorites. I always skip over it, but it is touching considering that it fits his comeback and looking back on his career. It's also one of the last times he will sing with the same gentleness of the 50-s and early 60's.
Me and my cousins were outside playing and my aunt came outside and told us Elvis is coming on we ran into the house and sat right in front of the TV. Tx.
Such A Beautiful Song And Beautifully Done. If You Watch The Video The Girl On His Right Reaches To Touch Him From Behind Elvis Stands Up To Finish The Song. That Girl Had Some Nerve. Also The Guy Behind Him Gave Her A Look What She Was Doing.
I read from accounts from some of girls that lot of them were ehat now called Gate Girls .. fans who alwayd regukarly stood outside his LA hones. He knew them cos they skways were at the gate. They eere given tickets fir this session .
Yeah, men as well. I think they were called Gate Fans (or something like that.) They would regularly gather at the gates (at Graceland as well) in the hopes of seeing and talking to Elvis. They formed life long friendships. It came to the point that Elvis knew them well and when someone did not rock up for a long time he would get worried and asked about them, if they were okay. Bless his heart. 😍
I love how Elvis can go from the raw & gritty One Night with You, then pull the emotional rug out from under you with Memories. He even pulled the rug out from under himself: he dabbed some tears off his cheek and looked at his hand as if he wondered how they had gotten there! But that was one of his best qualities, wearing his heart on his sleeve.
Many music commentators loved this Special for the blues, rock and passion but felt the sentimentality of this song was out of place. I'm glad you didn't fall into that trap. Nostalgia and wistful sincere feelings are the other side of the coin with Elvis.
Hi Seph! Thank you so much for all your hard work on behalf of Elvis. He is a man who possesses a magic that I have yet to see equaled. As he sings this song, I find myself trying to imagine the images that settle in his mind, for by this time in his life, he has experienced more than three men combined. As I see it, the story of Elvis Presley represents the greatest true story ever told. The Baz Luhrman version of “Elvis” is lovely and yet no one has successfully encapsulated the whole story. I have come to view him as a spinning diamond that shows us each facet briefly before disappearing to reveal another. And still, his life can never be pared down to just facts because ordinary vocabulary does not give us a means to describe his extraordinary affect. To view him, to see him move, to hear him sing or speak, evokes such emotion that one some how feels more alive and oddly closer to God. In so many words it has been said over and over. As the man said Seph, “May God bless you as he has me”. ❤️
Apparently he wrote a song and showed it to Priscilla and she laughed at him for it and he wouldn't write any more. So sad. That woman has recently proven herself to be pretty unpleasant and is hitting out now because they apparently turned down her claim to be buried near Elvis. She forgets that they were divorced, and that she said she wouldn't use his name to push herself forward, and that she also remarried and divorced again, and is still wanting to use the Presley name for gain. But yes, apparently he wrote a couple (Is one of them "As long as I have you"?) and the other one he showed her and her mocking him put him off. What a sad loss for us all.
Priscilla is a piece of work, alright. She tried to discourage Lisa Marie from pursuing a singing career. I think Lisa gained a lot of confidence and joy from singing, just like her dad. Priscilla was jealous of both and their love for each other.
Seph, Priscilla Presley said in a recent interview with Piers Morgan that this song was her favorite song from her husband. Also the metaphor of pressed between the pages of my mind is a reference to when women use to take a rose that was given to them by their boyfriends, lovers, husbands, and press them and store them in big Bibles or other large books that would preserve the rose as a cherished memory forever. Very sentimental song. I imagine Elvis was thinking of his past up till that point regarding the people he loved and lost. "Mama Liked the Roses" is an extremely beautiful song similar to this one and there is a reference to pressed between the pages in it. I left the link because it is too good to miss. th-cam.com/video/yglzDizF2aU/w-d-xo.html
No lip syncing either. No tech stuff, just his pure voice. Incredible
Ah Seph this was like you say a masterpiece - so glad that you are seeing the real Elvis - again a masterful performance of a beautiful song 😘
Thanks for the beautiful reaction. 🙏 written for elvis by Mac Davis
This is beautiful. And, the control he maintains throughout the song while also letting so much emotion flow through every word is masterful. And, I am just amazed to see the full range of what he performed so well, and live, in the sit-down portions of this Comeback Special. --Marie

Yes, a Brand New Song Written for Elvis Especially for this Intimate Concert.
Beautiful ❤
You scared me. This is one of my very favorites by Elvis. This is around the time he decided he wouldn't sing anything he didn't like (once he got out of the movie contract). The way you feel about this is what Elvis is all about. He makes every song his very own.
This is one of my favorite songs. I loved it even before it was sung by Elvis. Obviously, he took it to a new level, as always.
Awww what a lovely reaction Elvis just touches your soul with his interpretation of love songs he was a sensitive and emotional man and I've got to say i think you are too with your reactions well done Seph
Up there with the best, one of the most beautiful songs Elvis ever sang, definitely a masterpiece & your reaction was just brilliant Seph ❤️💯❤️
It's on my personal playlist already Janet
One of my absolute favorite Elvis songs!!!
After Elvis died, I wept in my room listening to this song over and over-still brings tears to my eyes.

When I saw THIS IS NOT A BANGER, I thought how could you not like this one?! Then I watched your amazing reaction. Yes, a masterpiece.
@:A showmanship shone with charisma, energy, unique style, audience connection, stage banter, unpredictability, and versatility, making him a legendary
So glad you finally got this time of Elvis' career. Everyone will be a Banger, Banger, Banger!
I Adore this song so much, would of given anything to be one of those girls 😍😍

Well said, Rob! I could not agree more.
This song is a masterpiece! Well said Seph. Such a stunning ballad. Elvis excelling here. Very nice reaction.🎧🎙
His voice is for real. His record was not much different than this version. Absolutely beautiful and a tribute to the growth of Elvis’ ability to emotionally connect to his music and fans listening to him.
Im 79 and have loved him since i was 12. This will be played at my funeral. He's so beautiful, in every way!

Absolutely stunning. My Elvis playlist is on overdrive....thank you for all you're doing, keeping many of us worshipping at the Elvis chapel ❤⚡💯
If I remember correctly, few seconds after this, while the audience is applauding, Elvis got quite emotional for a second or two
From the wonderful Mac Davis that wrote in the Ghetto. The Gorgeous melody written for the beautiful voice of Elvis, It can lift you up, but is sorta sad. No one does it justice but THE Elvis. thanks Seph.

One of many songs sang live that were a one-take worthy master recording performance.
Another amazing song penned by the late great Mac Davis, masterfully sung by Elvis! I have to admit to throwing my hands up when I read the caption, but it’s all good now!
BANGER!!! One of his many favorite hits. ❤ RIP mom

Very tricky Seph! 😊
I couldn’t believe it when I saw the caption! I get it now! Definitely a Masterpiece!!❤
Hehehe It fooled many people 😂

Very sweet song ❤😊
What a song, what a voice....
Elvis gave us many sweet memories.

Elvis at his best 🔥🔥🔥
Just as Mac Davis wrote In the Ghetto and don’t cry daddy he also wrote this masterpiece.
@cherylspencer8024 Yes he was he also wrote Don’t cry Daddy and in the Ghetto
December 3rd broadcast it says. Very apt. 55 years ago today.
There is a funny take on this song in the studio where Elvis was joking around with his and they were making animal noises lol
Beautiful song. Not one of my favorites. I always skip over it, but it is touching considering that it fits his comeback and looking back on his career. It's also one of the last times he will sing with the same gentleness of the 50-s and early 60's.
You've missed some songs then.
Love this performance he was in great shape and on top of hi game the 👑 the one and only ! Great reaction Seth!❤😊
Me and my cousins were outside playing and my aunt came outside and told us Elvis is coming on we ran into the house and sat right in front of the TV. Tx.
You said it Seph Wow lovely song 😍

I don’t think it was nerve, just compulsion!
A studio version was released also just beautiful

I hope that you react to Elvis version of Green Green Grass Of Home, he out sings Tom Jones any day
That heading had me fooled and had a moment of disappointment.
It debut on this show.
Of course they play this a Lot at Graceland. 😢
It was written by Mac Davis
Wow is right.
Got to say I'm gonna cop a lot of flack for this comment, but only liked a few songs in his comback special. Sorry🙄
