I've been there back in the 1960's, truly a special place. Even the view from the energy storage facility is awesome to see. The energy storage place was just in the beginning phase of its start up in the mid sixties. Most people don't realize how much the sand dunes on the north end of Hamlin Lake have changed from the mid 1960's. They used to be much taller along the Hamlin Lake shoreline, maybe 100-200+ feet taller before they slid into the lake. I just wish someone had pictures or video footage of what the Hamlin Lake sand dunes used to look like. My grandfather had a house on the South Bayou of Hamlin Lake back in the mid 1960's, so we used to do a lot of exploring, and enjoying all the adventures that were available back then. The graph of the Lake Michigan Fishery was so correct as fishing in the big lake was so dead back then. The Lake Michigan shoreline used to be buried in dead alewives each summer because there were no fish eating them. I remember some areas having piles of dead decaying Alewives as high as 2-3 foot tall. It was a sad and awful time for Lake Michigan when pollution and Lamprey Eels were at there worst. Prior to Michigan implementing the ten cent Beverage can and bottle return program. The surface of Lake Michigan used to get covered in floating beer and soda cans waiting to sink every summer. It used to be a sad and disgusting thing to see back then.
You are correct about the alewives - until they planted salmon (but the DNR says this wasn't the reason -they just wanted a cash cow like deer hunting)the beaches were unusable. But , The Hamlin dunes look pretty much the same as they ever did. Very few people go out there .
I've been to Ludington a couple hundred times, seriously. And never heard of "the Cliffs". I will ask my relatives WHERE is it? Very nice video! Ludington is a great place to vacation!!! Even if you never find the cliff!
Vienici a trovare e andiamo insieme!! Michigan e uno state bellissimo e troppo sottovalutato!!
Allora ci vediamo davvero a Como... Ciao.

Love your video! Tell me - who makes those amazing dog vests? We are looking for one just like that.
The secret dunes south of Ludington is known to the locals as Peter Pan Land. You used to be able to drive right up to the edge of the cliffs when i was in high school around 1997. Spent many days roaming around those cliffs. Ludington native for 45 years. 🎉
That is so cool! We were amazed by the location and loved it. So much, we have it on our trade show banner! Check out our shorts from Hershey RV show this week!
I was born in Ludington and my family goes back there so frequently. Is this cliff maybe in Buttersville? ( I realize that you probably can’t say where it is as you mentioned in the video) But It looks similar to me. When I was a kid we were camping in the Buttersville campground and a bee was chasing after me and as I was running from it I nearly fell off a cliff there.
Very good video of the area, thank you!! I'm getting ready to head there this summer in my new van with my 2 doggies! Question - can you recommend some areas/campgrounds to enjoy the views right from my van, as I have a disability. Also, if I walk a little, are the dogs safe in the van by themselves? I will have AC. Thanks in advance!!
Great questions and thanks for posting. First, yes the dogs are safe at least in our van. We automated air and heat. We also have a camera system and plenty of water and food. Even with that, we try to take them as many places as possible because they love the outdoors. As far as our videos, we did some nice campgrounds in Michigan. Check them out in our video campground review section. We really like Ludington state park, Interlochen state park, Mill Creek Mackinaw, and many others.
There actually is. When I was there memorial weekend. I went over to the other trail that split to the left and there is a trail that goes down to the shore. A family’s kids went all the way down and was making their way up while the mom and dad were waiting at the top. I went down a little bit too just to see and came back up. It was harder coming back up. Lol
it might seem like a silly secret to you guys but to us locals it is a special place we hold in our hearts even if we move the memories we had are very always going to be there thanks for screwing that up for everyone this is why we hate tourist people like you spoil everything
We are surprised by your comment. We kept our promise and did not give away the name of the location even though we could have provided all the information, directions, name, thumbnail, etc. We found this spot on our own without anyone's help. We live in New England. Most people would have provided all information to boost views and we did not. We did look out for the locals and we did not view it as silly.
6:20 that's a nice set of Ludingtons
Ludington is awesome!
that reminds me -- I need to work on my motorboat........ must have been a brisk cool wind that day.
Hi Alice and Tommy T, another great video!..keep them coming.
Thanks so much! Thanks for watching. We really appreciate the comments and channel support!

Wow, a little harsh, they are just celebrating the area. I believe the place is big enough to share, geesh.
I had to do alittle research and found it. Was actually there Memorial weekend ‘23.
