For those who are puzzled by this and don't like research: We have 23 vertebral discs in the spinal column (neck to lower back) which are spongy pads about 1/4-inch each. As they age they undergo wear and tear and get dried out. By 60 you will not be as tall as you once were and the degree depends on genetics and your lifestyle. It's a good idea to be informed about your back because when you get a pain issue, it's hard or almost impossible to alleviate.
Legs bones are denser than the torso spine , so if you have two people of the same peak height then the one with the shorter legs and longer spine will shrink more.

Tom Cruise is 5'5" to 5'8". Depending on whether he wears lifts. On a given day. Ranging from one to three inches. A former publicist outed him. From the "Tiny Tom" height closet. Cruise's publicists have helped him to lie about his height for years. A former publicist for Cruise said that he was not even considered for the "Reacher" TV series role. I know all the theories regarding his lift wearing and know he has worn them, you can tell by the fluctuations in height difference between him and his tall girlfriends. However, after spending hours and hours looking at him while making this video I honestly think he can’t be under 5’7 peak. Amazing no one seems to mention these actors who wore professional inserts and heeled boots and shoes to make them appear taller because of insecurities and/or film requirements for scenes. The industry is filled with short people because they fit into the visual frame of a set better. They didn’t shrink so much as they ease off the need to protect an ego after a certain age

Several shorter actors once wore lifts and simply outgrew their vanity. While many of the taller ones are in their 80's and even 90's have had their spines settle with old age. Neither should be any kind of shock for the public.
I once read that a normal person will shrink in height 1/4 inch for every decade after age 40. So if you live to 80, you are down a full inch due to your spine condensing and your feet getting flatter. .
Sorry but no one gets shorter as they age, they may seem that way but only due to bending over because of their age. Not because they shrink. And the video says estimated, so there is no proof.
I’m not sure how old you are but I’ll say this! Yes your spine will naturally curve as you get older but all of your bone structure will get smaller as well, and I’d get used to the idea if I was you because it will be an almighty shock if you are lucky enough to live long enough to shrink. Just look at the pictures, big Clint Eastwood has visibly lost size, you can’t tell me he’s just doubled over and that’s why. Your comment is bordering on ludicrous, sorry 🤦🏻

@ ok. But trust me he’s 5’9 peak or very close. My son is taller than me but when we stand eye to eye I don’t see it. I tell the wife no way. Then I am embarrassed when we stand in the mirror. The average person can lose at least 2 inches in height over a lifetime due to disk shrinkage, and thinning of cartilage overall. All those 1/16 of an inch over the whole body add up.
I'm 70 and had my spine, 5 vertebra and 8 disc collapse about 1 tear ago. Before that I had lost about 3" ...the rest was probrobably I guess due to degeneration of those bones. So I think natural degeneration causes height loss in all of us. Thank you for the post. Best wishes.

But after 10 hours on my feet, I know that my spine compresses a bit and that's when I truly feel short

Yes he does. The height I listed has nothing to do with seeing him on Star Trek. And for your info most old fellas wore heeled boots, it was big back then

I think I know what you mean. You mean nobody is willing to look at it and make an estimate? I like me of course 😁
Several shorter actors once wore lifts and simply outgrew their vanity. While many of the taller ones are in their 80's and even 90's have had their spines settle with old age. Neither should be any kind of shock for the public.
Yea this is true
Happy New Year
And you bob 👊
Some of the older ones are shorter then before because they are more likely to be older than when they were younger
I’m not sure you worded that comment perfectly but I know exactly what you mean 😊
I once read that a normal person will shrink in height 1/4 inch for every decade after age 40. So if you live to 80, you are down a full inch due to your spine condensing and your feet getting flatter. .
@@donneary7104 I think it’s true from 40-60, but after 60 that starts to increase. I know someone at 84 who’s lost 5 inch
@@DataWatch. Yes..I was talking about averages. But you're correct. Depending on conditions of health and aging anything is possible.

It’s true that the older we become, we start shrinking.
Of course it is friend

@ all i could say is i was at a local hangout in south beach in the 90s. Stallone happen to there that night, and was literally standing next to me at the bar for more than an hour. I didn’t even notice until my friends told me to look at who was standing next to me. I’m 5’9” he was shorter than me. Period. I didn’t look at his shoes or even remotely consider it. He was pretty cool with us, said hello, chatted a little, and that was it.
@ ok. But trust me he’s 5’9 peak or very close. My son is taller than me but when we stand eye to eye I don’t see it. I tell the wife no way. Then I am embarrassed when we stand in the mirror. Stallone was taller than 5’10 Jason statham in the expendables in pretty much all their pics. For what it’s worth I think statham was under 5’9, although that’s not his official height. If I could see something that showed me Stallone way under 5’9 I’d happily look at it, but all my years of height research hasn’t shown me anything. It’s my personal estimation after research
I'm in my 40s and I remember being bigger and my kids clown me and say I was never over 6 foot. It happens to all men.
Some people are going to get a shock because they seem to not believe it
The average person can lose at least 2 inches in height over a lifetime due to disk shrinkage, and thinning of cartilage overall. All those 1/16 of an inch over the whole body add up.
Crazy isn’t it! You literally just shrivel up
So to be tall in the end usually requires more energy to be alive...short guys and girls have some advantage. Tom Cruise is very good indeed.
🤣
Tom Cruise vampire 😂😂😂😂😂😂
It happens....did to me with spine collapse....5.11 to 5.5.
Can I ask how old you are? It’s your done yes but your whole bone structure starts to shrivel
That didn't look like Harrison Ford on the left
I’d have to watch it back but I’m pretty certain it is. Someone would have pulled it after this many views. If you’d had said it’s not ford and named someone I’d have been a bit more sceptical as to whether it’s the right pic, but I’m pretty sure it’s right
I once stood a hair over 6 ft 1 in. At age 53, if I take a full breath and straighten my back, I'm a full 5 ft 11! Time shrinks everything except your soul
