    i resonate a lot with this video, i try my best to never "overplay" in ranked because once i hit autopilot i start to forget my purpose for playing. when i can come rested and focused on my goals, i play much better and i accept losses more meaningfully.

    A lot of people don't realize it when they first start their journey, but it really does take a lot of self awareness when it comes to doing what we do. When you first start the learning process, you're essentially learning how to interact with a new body in a new world. And it takes the same amount of self awareness in the game as it takes irl. That same self awareness of yourself irl is the same self awareness that is required in game to play well. It eventually all becomes mental once you have enough of the information down around the mechanics and your control and precision of the actual game. Basically, at some point in time with lots of practice and xp, you will become one with your character. This can only be earned through hard work. I hope this helps someone out there. Good luck!

    Lots of good stuff here. I wanted to add onto the "letting go of the ego" point. With my ego, a big thing I struggle with is that I put the blame on myself for losses TOO much. It's as if a loss or a bad decision lowers my worth as a Tekken player and human being, and I tilt from self-loathing more than character's being annoying. The concept of "it's all on me" is true but can be destructive if you don't detach yourself from the result and just look at the game for what it was - not a win or a loss, but a series of moments. Then you keep building up those moments into being confident and better at Tekken. Lose the ego! Focus on the present moment! You are where you are and that's ok. :)
    "“When we plant a rose seed in the earth, we notice that it is small, but we do not criticize it as "rootless and stemless." We treat it as a seed, giving it the water and nourishment required of a seed. When it first shoots up out of the earth, we don't condemn it as immature and underdeveloped; nor do we criticize the buds for not being open when they appear. We stand in wonder at the process taking place and give the plant the care it needs at each stage of its development. The rose is a rose from the time it is a seed to the time it dies. Within it, at all times, it contains its whole potential. It seems to be constantly in the process of change; yet at each state, at each moment, it is perfectly all right as it is.”

      I'm in the same boat. If I'm having a really bad Tekken day I almost get the same type of feeling as feeling like an inferior human being or something lol I beat up myself a lot for losing when I just gotta accept things just happen and that I need to start learning more

    A good way I find to bring myself to reality once I tilt is realize how thankful I am for affording to get mad at a game of all things going in my life at the moment. This always reminds me that things are ok and brings my mind out of the game to enable me to calm down and try again later.

    I left tekken 8, 2 weeks ago becuz i kept losing to flowcharts and just raged at the so called "broken characters" but this video convinced me to give the game one more chance and more importantly, give me one more chance, subbed :)

      Game seems bullshit when you don't know what's going on, but I'm happy I've done my homework because these days this game makes me way less mad than Tekken 7 🤭
      Glad you're giving it another chance, remember losing is part of the jouney! You can lose 20 games in a row and come out a better player.

    The only thing that tilts me is myself. An example is if I start dropping combos, then everything else goes down the tube. Definitely play tired or fatigued is a recipe for frustration.

    another thing that tilts me is "doing the right thing but not getting the right reward" and what i mean by that is being off 1-3f of a punish/duck launch/intercept bec the recovery of every move in the game is slightly different. for example a grab recovers slower than a ducked jab. and its often like yes i made the right read and ducked the high but i had to be "frame perfect" for a duck launch in this situation
    another thing for that would be sidestepping, im trying to implement it into my gameplan and therefore use it more often but its kinda bs if u step sth only to get hit by some followup of their string bec it auto realigns

    i have around 70% winrate and 30 hours ish of Tekken 8 in Shinryu. I'd say what made me rank up really quickly and maintain a decent winrate is because I enjoy playing against stronger opponents. I look forward to losing even because I wanna be better. Winning doesn't mean anything to me if it means that I won't improve. Every time I hit up ranked I hope that I run into a smurf or a much stronger opponent than me so I can improve even faster and see what gaps between me and someone a rank above me

    • @MisterBlackout
      @MisterBlackout หลายเดือนก่อน

      im at about 500+ hours and im a Raijin rank kazuya
      Got brian to fujin and i’m still learning from better players. Im fighting nothing but tekken emperors that are playing pocket characters.
      I only tilt when I feel the flowcharts are scummy. Less because of the flowcharts themselves but more because of the audacity to play in such a way.

      @@MisterBlackout lmao, regardless of how cheap someone plays though, i wont make an excuse or get mad because it just means i was too weak to overcome them. If they arent God of Destruction, others have been able to beat them and I just havent gotten to that level yet

    Usually when I want to play Tekken and I'm not sure about it I play a different character, not my main. I'm getting more comfortable and having a warm-up, while training that character and not caring about the rank at all. And now I also change character when I'm not doing that great. Once when I was tilted while playing my main I lost 3 ranks and told myself that I'm not going to sleep until I get it back and I did that in 2/3hs. I was not satisfied, I was furious. Never doing that again on such big scale.

  • @musfirtariq7309
    @musfirtariq7309 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    Not sure if it's the same thing but I feel like when you're not in "the zone", you tend to not think clearly and become impatient which is against the Philosophy of Tekken.

    • @Momo-Dog
      @Momo-Dog  หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      That's what I figured over the years, too. Tekken is best played when you're in a positive mental state, otherwise you will just spiral into negativity too quickly
      Not saying tilt doesn't happen when you are in the zone but it sure doesn'T build up as quickly

  • @mgu-ph

    I had a meltdown after losing a promo chance to Fujin that eventually snowballed to a demotion. If you've been there trying to cross a rank color, you know this is one of, if not, the worse scenario when playing online. As stinging as losses get, I try to be more mindful nowadays not to take it personally. Others are also just trying to win. They are just better at you at the given moment. Now take the time to watch the replays and find the humor in seeing your old play get whacked - and learn from it 😅

    I like the message at the last part, rank is nothing more than a PNG that will boost your ego or something like that. But I need to ask, if Wavu is not really usefully before tekken king what movement can advice us to execute to bait out attacks? does poking below -9 unfinished strings like 1, b1, or b 2, ws4, df4 will help us bdash, ss or duck since movement can be buffer? Hella lit video btw.

    usually i stop playing once i notice my execution starts to fail me. Missing electrics, iws3's, iws2's and wavedashing. If it's not with my movements or execution, its probably just bad responses to flowcharting opponents and annoying pressure. Thanks again for the video momo!

    i dunno if you saw what i put in your discord saying thst the reason i dont play ranked is because of im scared of getting stuck. i lab constantly wether its throw breaks or or my own strings i always feel like theres more pressure happening when i play ranked. when i play quick match or player match im in my element it something about ranked i quite dont understand. this video definitely helps me thank you momo.

    • @WTDGL

      I had a similar problem before but now I just play ranked and focus on what I can control which are my responses to pressure and my execution. I also stopped higher ranked opponents or unknown matchups from intimidating me. I just maintain my gameplan and fix what goes wrong.

    Hi momo i think i create a good tech. Deviljin get too much from ki charge. His throw mix become unreactable and his f43(or f34 forgot) and df12 become natural combo and if combine ki charge with heatdash its become last chance savior.

    • @qoqva7977
      @qoqva7977 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can setup it like a hellsweap heatburst ws3 mc 422 ki charge mc 22heatdash. Or bf21d2 ub 1+2. After mc 42 ender you are too close and cant block. But if you set on fullscrean you can mc 22 or shacle 1 oponent will afraid to press bc of heat then ff2 heatdash.

    yeah good luck not tilting when you lost to someone 5 times worse than you because his character is 5 times cheaper and braindead than yours, and on top of that he kicharged you and ran away....i can see how this wouldn't bother someone who's already accomplished and proven to be a godlike at the game like an evo player he would just laugh it off and move on, but for someone who's stuck in the trenches always self doubting and striving to prove himself this kind of thing becomes infuriating
    i honestly think if you're an everage online player and you don't get tilted in this game there's something wrong with you
