KEF LS50 META amp pairing: Class D or Class AB better?

KEF LS50 META have excellent detail retrieval, to the point that some listeners find their treble energy can be too much to their ears. So will the METAs be better paired with a class D or class AB amp?

Nice video Hunter! I’ve viewed more than my share of LS50 Meta TH-cam reviews. Consensus is the Metas like Class D; could it be the Sabaj is giving them quantity but not quality? Maybe an NAD amp (C399 or M10) would make your comparison more even? Good luck with your channel!

I’ve been using the Wilsenton R8 50W class A SET rolled tube amp PSVane top tubes with Denafrips Pontus 2. DAC with DDC and Eversolo A6 ME as streamer. Sounds great in my small room spkr 2.2M apart , 2.2M to listening position. Also using S2 stands lead filled with IsoAcoustic Gaia2 feet and Rel T5X sub , Cardas spkr wires , Audioquest USB connects , Mogami XLR. Positioning of spkrs n sub is critical for best results. 50cm away from wall and sub in center. Previously I had a SimAudio Moon class AB , not good enough but was ok.

Is Willsenton R8 good enough to power LS50. Was thinking of pulling the trigger on this one.

@@aptembe its 50W so in a small room with a sub its fine , maybe max 88dB. Keep in mind rolling the tubes with better tubes will improve sound quite alot.

@@aptembe Also class A sound bass is detailed and deep, voice is incredible , very detailed. Soundstage and imaging

I use a Vincent sa500 class a/b 50 watt with the first 12 watts in a. The preamp is fine buffered and I preamp out to a VTV purfi with a class a type chip class d amp. It sounds like the kef ls50 might be a great match. Thanks
