It’s January 2024, one of the few politicians that are revered by Singaporeans, politicians and leaders around the world. Still. Thank you to Mr Lee and the Old Guards.
Watching this on 1 Sep 2024. I still choked up and had teary eyes. No words can describe how precious Mr Lee Kuan Yew was to Singapore. You will be truly missed by many and in generations to come.
while I am watching this, I could feel that Singaporean very love Mr Lee Kuan Yew, after the separation from Malaysia, he transformed from an outpost state, small country become the one of the wealthiest and developed nation in the world, respect from Indonesia.
It will be Mr Lee's 100th birthday next year. I am very proud to be a Singaporean. I thank Mr Lee for his sacrifices and his vision in bringing us to where we are today. He was a well respected leader globally. Thank you Sir! Forever grateful, your Singaporean child.
I can't believe that it has been almost a decade since Mr. Lee has left us. Many Singaporeans still misses him a lot 😢 What an incredible leader who worked tirelessly and sacrificed so much for Singapore. There will never be another leader like Mr Lee 😍
Six years has passed and I am still sad when I watch Mr Lee Kuan Yew's funeral. He has been missed by many including myself. A great leader, our mentor and idol. Everything that we have and enjoy today, we owe it to him. God Bless you, Mr Lee.
Im so blessed and proud tht im singaporean. Without him we wouldnt be like this today. He work smart and he was genius guy! In sch we always learn how to be multi racial and respect each other regardless of race, language or religion. We even have celebration for multi racial day, where every student can wear malay, chinese or indian tradisional costume to sch. Sometimes our chinese or indian friend borrow our costume, and sometimes we do wear chinese and indian costume too! Its fun and beautiful! Thank you sir for making singapore a better place for everybody🙏🥰
I queued up to pay my last respects at the Istana and I stood in the rain for his final send-off and I don't regret one moment of it. Thank you, Mr Lee Kuan Yew. You were an integral part of building up Singapore.
7 years on. I still remember the day I watched this live on CNA. I’m Malaysian but I still can feel the sorrow. Singapore and the world have lost a great visionary leader
Yes, every singaporeans especially the oldest till 70s, we love and respect lee kuan yew so much. As we know he is the wise man and only one. Every time i watched this video, i would cry as he really put in a lot of his passion, sweat and life in building up singapore. I know he sacrifice a lot and nobody wants to take this job, but he is the best person, mr lee kuan yew, our respectable minister ever. 🙏ND ALSO THANK YOU FOR HAVING YOUR SONS WITH US
Mrs Thatcher said: “In office, I read and analysed every speech of Lee. He had a way of penetrating the fog of propaganda and expressing with unique clarity the issues of our time and the way to tackle them. He was never wrong …”
We waited in the rain with many other families and children on the Esplanade bridge for some time, for our beloved founding father and 1st Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew's casket to be driven by. As time drew on, the rain started to pour - many were wet especially those without umbrellas, but we all stood patiently and silently and just wanted to see him off for a last time, in our respects. His casket was eventually driven by to the cries and sadness of many. We didn't mind the rain, which was actually apt for the occasion of our nation's heaviest sorrow - heaven's way of mourning with us on our very deep loss as a people. We must and will uphold MM LKY's beliefs and legacy for Singapore through future generations, regardless of race, language or religion. Thank you so very much Sir MM Lee Kuan Yew from our hearts, for everything you - and your team - did for us as a people and our families in Singapore, our home and country.
Even after LKY's passing 6 years ago, this question is still asked: Who among the world's 7 billion plus people is of LKY's calibre? Not many, even across generations. To the secular, aren't Singaporeans lucky to have him lead our nation from a "mudflat to a thriving metropolis" within a generation and earned the respect of world leaders? To the religious, aren't Singaporeans blessed? True, no human being or human institution is perfect. He will always have his critics and detractors. To them, I say, don't nitpick. Look at the bigger and long-term picture. Nobody can please everyone all the time. But had he not done the majority good over the long-term? Figuratively, judge a tree by its fruit. A good tree bears good fruit. It cannot bear bad fruit. Singaporeans owe LKY a deep debt of gratitude. I hope with the emergence of each generation of Singaporeans, that they will hold fast to the hard truths that keep Singapore going, based on LKY's wisdom through years of his experiences in governance and international relations as well as his keen insights into the human nature. Majulah Singapura!
Watching this in 2024 from the U.S. I was born in Singapore but moved in 1969 at age 15 to Australia and moved to the U,S, in 1985. I love LKY because he was incorruptible and I could tell he loved Singapore and the people. Everything he did, it was for his countrymen and not to enrich himself and his cronies! I wish it can be so in the U.S. today, my heart actually hurts when I think of him…especially now at the ripe old age of 70 when I can realize what a great man he is!
From desperation to greatness, with sound intellect & strong love of country, this poetic dreamer cast beautiful color, much dignity & hope upon an unlikely ppl no one suspect to be a go getter. So ends the romance of man & country, he now receives his just reward with his lord, job well done, legacy complete, I may not be Singaporean, but the love in this man taught us all how to love our country with our hearts & works. The sad part is that God rarely grants persons like him: Mr Lee, Mr Mahatir, King Faisal of Saudi, JFK...Singapore consider yourself lucky & guard your government from corruption. RIP our Hero.
Although life is full of ups and downs. Mr Lky is one of the greatest leader and national builder. Some will say negative stuffs but results shows. He has my greatest respect and will always miss him as a leader of Singapore.
I remembered standing at One Marina Boulevard with my daughter, and as the cortege passed by, I cried. My daughter followed suit. Mr Lee Kuan Yew, we missed you!
October 2024, I grieve alongside Singaporeans. Singapore has a fond place in my heart! My dad worked in Singapore for 22 yrs, before we moved to Australia 🇦🇺. The world will miss this great man! Will be etched in history and entering the hall of fame as one of the most admired leaders of our times.
Just by looking at his funeral, you instantly knows that this man is more than a leader to Singaporean. Good bye and thank you Sir! The world will miss you dearly!
I remember tat day I was working at airport so I have to watch live from the tv.. I won't regret for not sending Mr Lee.cos I have sent him off from the tv. I even saw him around Singapore River before. Tks sir.
LKY's son's speech brought a tear to my eye, and I've never even been to Singapore. Even I am grateful to his sacrifice as a son, as I am sure government took a lot of father-son time away from him, but what a blessing to have had his guidance. I was also amazed to see all those people in the rain, even after seeing Queen Elizabeth II's public turnout to say one last goodbye. I have heard the critics of Singapore, and as a westerner I do feel uneasy about accepting some aspects like caning. But more and more I am seeing how civilized it is compared to the alternative, which I live every day. I say this despite being someone who deeply respects the philosopher Slavoj Zizek, a communist who want a more real emancipation. I say it as someone who understands the concept of fetishism in the psychoanalytic sense of the word. But I see the people in the rain, under beautiful trees, spotless streets, etc. and I just want to be part of a society like Singapore. Yes, it might be hard work to be a Singaporean, but bullies and criminals can't just take your work away from you. It is fair. Please keep Singapore like LKY envisioned. I want to visit and see it with my own eyes at least once before I die, ideally on tree planting day.
What a leader. I wish India needs a leader like him. The leader who transformed his country from slum state from the richest economies in the world. Miss you sir🔥💖✨❤️⚡♥️💓❣️
May God Bless him abundantly for his honesty, loyalty, responsible, and respect for his fellow citizen, he will be rewarded through his actions in heaven

God raise this man to bless Singapore. There's no other man more suitable than Lee Kuan Yew as he was God’s choice. I don't know what his beliefs were in his last days, but i sure hope to see him in heaven someday...

I always admires Mr. Lee Kuan Yew's quoted, "As long as i am in-charge, nobody is gonna knock this down."👍
A great loss for a nation and to the world, even the sky was in tears...
