This video was really helpful. Thanks for demonstrating this technique! I was having problems with desoldering larger mounting posts on an antiquated USB hubs as a learning experiment, but had no issues once I followed the method shown here.
Hi. I appreciate this video. I need the same thing done to my laptop. Where can I get the power jack from ? I searched the Amazon site. I typed in dc power jack but didn't find it.
Hello I have a problem with the wick not sucking up any solder. Do you know what could be the problem? Had a difficult time getting the tin to melt in first place but now it seems to work after adding some leaded tin first. However, can’t get it out using the wick.
Hello, your soldering iron is not powerful enough to melt the leadfree solder on this pcb, this pcb has copper on both sides and needs a strong soldering iron, i'm using a 50 watt soldering iron. do you have a desoldering pump ?
Thank you for the instructive and clear video. I would suggest in future instead of music you could use your words to describe what you're doing in detail.
Freaking honestly I hate how it’s only these would be good tutorial that make the video not a good tutorial only because they don’t use there voice in guidance!!
@@NikTelio Good to know! So I don't have to buy a desoldering 350° pump. I can still desolder the old dc power jack of my laptop. The only thing I need is a soldering kit from Amazon. Don't I? (I don't have any soldering experience)
I ve made a 12dc vacuum bump sucker with heatgun, just heating solder melted and using auto-vacuum-sucker sucking old solder, Niko sir you can try to make one, It is much easier for working : )
aaaaaah the good feeling of a pro teaching properly and answering my questions! thanks!

Good guide. Now I have enough confident to do this myself.
Out of curiosity, what's the DC power jack part that you replaced? It's the exact one I need to replace mine!
Could you tell me what temperature you have your soldering tip at please?
Should you check the other side of the m/b for remaining solder? Thanks Nick. Great video!
Hello, yes both sides must be clean
@@NikTelio ok thank you 🤓
Iscared to hold the heat gun that long over components
The only component you are holding it over is being replaced. 😂
Hi, I am going to use mesh instead of hot air station, is it ok?
Very helpful video , thumbs UP👍 👍
it hurts my heart to see that motherboard blasted with 350 degrees air
how do i know which replacement jack to buy?

Is that music or a hearing torture device?

Powerjackrepair is the only channel I can find so far whom creates actually good tutorials for power jack repairs
Keep up the good work. I like your videos :).
Thanks Bebe :)
When removing the remaining solder from the board, using the wick, you still used 350° C ?
yes 350c, if you do not have a desoldering pump then use the wick as i do in the video.

Nice idea :)
Which flux do you recommend
Hi, amtech nc-559 is a good flux
So basically there's no way to do it without desoldering it. Thank you
