DC Jack Wiring Connection I Positive I Negative Terminals

I am designing a DIY 7w dc light system. Can I use the DC connectors to connect the lights to the battery?

Thanks for your question.
You can use this DC jack for 12 volt output at 2 amps.
But to go for a “Ball Park figure” I just use the P =I times E
or Power in Watts = Volts times Amps equals about 24 watts average.
Hence, you can use for your application of 7W.

If I were to upgrade the internals of my microscopes led to handle 12 volts would the original 5 volt female jack work? Or are jack inputs interchangeable so as long as the polarity (center negative) is the same.

Yes, the other two are negatives but when you insert the male jack the connection between these two negative terminal will break.

Según el vídeo, parece ser que el pin en L es el positivo y el que está más centrado es el negativo. El tercer pin parece que no hace falta, ¿qué uso tendrá?
