    Gary I enjoy your videos. They are so helpful. Im in the states though and i have a 8 or 10 yr old Morton msd 45e softener that was dormant for about a month cause we drilled a new well. We moved it to the new spot in the house hooked it up and seemed to work but then discovered the water was overflowing. So i drained it and vacuumed the remaining salt out and used some hot water and iron out. Also cleaned the venturi valve. Havent started it back up yet im afraid it will happen again. What do you think caused this?

    Hello. Thanks for your video! I want to remove my brine tank to clean it out. Do I simply unplug the line at the softener, or do I need to put the clack ws1 unit into bypass or something else?
    When it’s all clean, do I just reattach it, add salt and water?

      If it is a new installation this could happen if plumbing is installed backwards. Otherwise it could be the manifold that goes in your media tank could be broken at the bottom letting media in to it

    If I stop adding salt with the purpose of getting the salt level low enough in a few weeks to make it easier to stir at the bottom to break any potential salt bridge, will the lower amount of salt still be enough for the softener to work as intended? Or should I always try to keep it a bit above water level for optimum performance? Thanks Gary!

      Brine tank gets filled with water because there is no vacuum being created by the water softener during the brine/rinse cycle. It is actually dumping water into the tank instead of vacuuming the water out. When this happens the seals on the piston that goes in and out of the valve body are shot and are letting water through passages that it shouldnt

    Love the videos - very helpful! I am having an issue with my Clack softener (city water) where I had pressure issues. I did a thorough (and long overdue) cleaning of the system using "OUT Filter Mate" and did not get relief. After much troubleshooting & research, I happened to stumble into noticing that there were somehow resin beads in the cold lines (and water heater too; drained it to remove), so I initially worried that they were degraded down to a size where they slipped through the screens and into the plumbing - but after searching online, it does not seem likely that they shrunk. The beads are still very firm, so they do not seem too degraded yet either (system is around 10yrs old). I did see a post online where someone mentioned that if you use water during a regen cycle, it can actually pull some media into the lines - I am hoping that this was the main cause, as I have already flushed all of the lines in the house, plus drained & flushed the water heater. I did happen to notice that almost all of the beads were contained to one bathroom & it's fixtures, so that gives me some confidence that it could have been pulled in from use during a regen cycle. I wanted to see if you had any helpful advice, as you seem to have encountered nearly every problem-solving scenario with these Clack softeners! Any help is appreciated, and I really love the videos; I have learned a ton about my system thanks to you!

    • @GarytheWaterGuy
      @GarytheWaterGuy  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm pretty sure that the riser tube or baskets at the top or bottom within your media tank is cracked and is letting some media through. If a water softener is in good shape there is no way you would get media coming through if you used water during regeneration. Thanks for watching!
