always use paste wax on your chrome after you polish it, keeps it nice for a very long time
my harley used to set out side, I would take some of it apart and polish the chrome and wax once a year , If I didn't wax it I would do it every 6 month

Great advice. Thank you. However that bumper is a knock out. I really do miss these things from the past. Well what I really mean is, progress to most people is plastic and EV's. I'm no longer interested in what people say today but what the might have to say in the future. I also keep that Mothers Mag polis in my workshop. It is also very usefull on plastic headlights.

I have used that 0000 steel wool for 40 years and it works best when you put Turtle Wax Chrome polish on the steel wool. it minimizes scratching, removes rust faster and leaves a nice shine. Don't try this on a nice or descent chrome it WILL scratch the heck out of the surface with fine thin scratches. Some people say it don't but to the trained eye or next to nice chrome it's very noticeable or looking at the reflection you'll see the scratches.

Yeah I agree the only way I'd use this is on old rusty stuff, thanks for the turtle wax tip!!!!

Caught ur title 2 as I'm always open 2 others' suggestions. On par with what I normally do but I would like to provide one suggestion that you should try for yourself. I use distilled water (minimizes mineral content in the water + still cheap) as well as dawn platinum (any dawn will do) dish soap mixed in with it as it has cleaning abilities as well as in this instance little bit of lubrication in the process.
    Supporting Example:
Think of a slip and slide rite. You can go down it pretty nicely with water. But u can often get scratched up or feel friction on yuh. But you add soap onto the slide. Voof, far faster and less harsh. Granted, yes, I know u want abrasiveness. However, when using the soapy water + 0000 steel wool on my windows as well as chrome. It saved the risk of any deep scratches and aids the removal of the iron and other oxides that are there. Just a suggestion.

@ACDesignsGarage Absolutely. Vids help my adhd while I'm working on things. Lol Currently, I'm now painting the corroseal primered areas of both my Fiesta front hub assemblies as well as the calipers. Much needed love as our Fam mechanic never mentioned how bad it was. Suppose that is another good reason why DIY saves money. Hehe

Keep doing that with Steel Wool and I'd imagine you won't have much chrome left in a short period of time. You want something softer than the chrome. Such as brass. Tin foil and water works on most rusted chrome.

@@ACDesignsGarage I went and bought the same exact steel wool pad and found another product you would probably find cool as well. It's a Rust-Oleum spray gel rust dissolve. I'm going to try that instead of the water or vinegar and see how it works. I think it will work great for getting into little nooks and crannies, I'm also going to soak down the frame and underbody and scrape off any rust I can find before doing an undercoat to protect the other side of the car.
