      I live maybe 10 minutes from there...I said this days ago(I have a BA's in Psychology and Sociology, and mental health is on my mind in these situations) My mom said that it's sad so many won't take it...they'll just bottle it up.

      After all these years, my son still has PTSD from the College Park, Maryland tornado. He was just a little kid in after school care when the tornado tore through the courtyard of his elementary school. PTSD is real! I certainly hope that in the future, they can get a lot of mental health groups together for these people to 'decompress' from all they've been through.

      Where was this lord to stop the storm?

    • @jamesfields7
      @jamesfields7 7 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      Is that the same Lord many of Tennessee's politicians blamed other storms that hit America, saying it was God's wrath on evil? I have to tell you, I'm struggling with empathy for many of these people since I am from East Tennessee and know what's in their hearts. It's not the Lord's love of all men....Had this storm decimated New York or California, many of them would be celebrating.

    Urm...Cannon Memorial Hospital is in Linville, NC...I have cousins in Linville. I live in Banner Elk. These towns are very close to one another, less than 5 minutes in some cases, so it is easy to get things mixed up. It's too bad they couldn't talk about the three confirmed dead...that is a real tragedy...on the other hand, the loved ones of the dead don't need the reminder. The Sheriff is right, we have a lot to be proud of and we WILL get through it.

      Unfortunately, the FAA has asked at least one group of private pilots to throttle their airdrops, Carolina Aviators Network. They've dropped 10s of 1000s of pounds of supplies out of the Statesville airport but posted today on their Facebook page, Hurricane Helene Airlift Relief, that they're having to change some of it to ground assets because the FAA says airborne sightseers are clogging the airspace 🤦 Why in the world a nonprofit dropping lifesaving supplies can't get special clearance is absolutely beyond me. Throttle the frickin sightseers, not the nonprofits!!

      @joannethomas3609, Don't feed misinformation. The federal government has coordinated, and continues to coordinate, massive relief efforts, and reallocate funds for you because your lives are important.
      Multiple conservative legislators from states in the path of Helene (Florida, Georgia, South and North Carolina, and Tennessee) all voted NO on numerous forms of disaster relief, including FEMA. The result is that resources and infrastructure have to be scrambled and funds pulled out of other budgets after major disasters. Don't hedge your bets and assume it won't happen to you. Contact your elected representatives and tell them they must always prioritize your safety and security with robust disaster relief bills.
