They could have started off genuinely believing there were evil spirits, that then escalated into the parents needing to stay awake as long as possible so they turned to meth, then started cooking and like everything else they did they messed it up, so horribly it got the house condemned

Also, making drugs makes sense for people trying to earn money off the grid. Or its possible there were animal sacrificed decaying in the basement.

my guess is that when they cooked the meth they did it and got high off of it and the guy who "helped them" find spirits was just a guy trying to get them to produce meth for him to sell

It sounded like an episode of hoarders mixed with mental illness until the hazmat suits and yeah that is normally meth head behavior. My biggest question is how in the fuck did they hide their operations from cps?? Were they cooking it in the trunk of the cars that's why the kids eventually went inside?? So many questions.

I don't think the junk in the yard would have smelled at all. I grew up with a backyard that was adjacent to a junk car lot. I've also lived in a minivan for nearly 2 years... cars don't bring odor like the way they're saying.... unless they used them for raw material storage. Their ghost hunter friend was probably their connection to selling product. And tweakers dig holes... it's a thing. I don't get it but yeah. The kids learned it somewhere. Or they were exposed to the product themselves.

About 12 years back I was contracted to clear, clean, and repair a small house owned by a rather wealthy jeweler who had let his prostitute/junkie niece live there rent free for years.
The "home" had a single toilet that was filled to the top with human excrement...yeah. I can't imagine how it was used by the last few people who filled it either.
The owners nephew was a realtor who provided a ton of work for my business so I didn't walk away from the job. I just made a plan that allowed me to trash the entire toilet, poop and all, without contaminating myself, my workers, or anything else.
I suspect that what got the house in this story condemned and the children, finally, taken away, was the families unfamiliarity with indoor plumbing.
After a lifetime of being used to pooping as bears do the kids, and perhaps the parental substitutes that were raising them, were doing their business everywhere in the house.
I shudder to imagine it...but I can imagine it.

CPS doesn't do anything in most areas. Unless a child is truly injured, they normally won't do shit. I know the CPS in my area is like that. My daughter had an issue with her father back in June. She ended up in a mental health facility for a 72 hour hold. Once she got out of there, she told me the whole story of what happened. I called CPS right away to file a claim of child abuse, and neglect. I never heard anything for months. Since my lawyer is involved to try to get custody changes my lawyer told me to go into the CPS building and file it again since I haven't heard anything yet. I did. I took my daughter in with me and she told them everything. The lady wrote it all down, took more info, asked questions. Said that her boss would look into it and I should hear something within 2 weeks. About a month later I got 2 letters in the mail. One from my first report, and one from the second. The were dated 3 days apart, and both said the same exact thing, that it was being looked into. The incident occurred on June 4th. Nothing has been done with her father yet. And of course with the snail speed court system, custody still hasn't been changed. Ridiculous

OK in that one story with the family living outside of their house… Everyone assumes that they’re making drugs inside the house because of the hazmat people. My first thought was they didn’t know how to use indoor toilet and that there was urine and feces everywhere… and/or perhaps rotting food, since they probably didn’t use a refrigerator. Hence, they actually would send hazmat people to deal with a situation like that.

As I guessed at the beginning of the crazy neighbor story; that complaining neighbor was a member of an HOA programs. She judged those people because they didn't live up to her expectations. My guess is; the crazy neighbor's property wasn't in that HOA area, and the busy body neighbor couldn't force them to live by her standards. By the way the story went; she was probably the one calling the CPS and police. She will get hers one day though.

I hate hotels with no locals policies. I went to school 200 miles from home and when I would go back home I didn’t always want to sleep on my parents couch. I would go get a room in town but several of our local hotels have no locals within 50 miles policies. Since I still had my parents address on my license since I was moving back home after school if the other hotels were booked I couldn’t get a room. It was so infuriating.

Lots of stores do not use actual gift cards as they were made back in the day. Gift Cards are more or less a magnetic strip and/or a QR code that is attached to a Database that says that this person has paid you x amount of money. In the past Gift Cards were associated with a bank and backed by money that was held by a bank. Modern Cards are held by the shop owner. Essentially this means that a GC can be entered independently of cash.

Just because ppl are physically capable of having children doesn’t mean they should. There are psychological and emotional premises as well, just as important.

Not me thinking the second story was secretly some La Llorona type of thing. I watch too much horror for my own good

On the last story I believe that the family was secretly hunting and eating them in the house which is why they believe it's hunted from all the animals they ate.

Last story: I'm honestly thinking there were some serious mental health issues going on there which if they were using would explain a lot. Sorry for the kids but hopefully they are in a safer environment now.

I believe that the parents were cooking some type of drugs but didn’t use protection and since the kids started seeing spirits it probably was affecting them too making everyone paranoid plus the cars were probably to mask the smell I hope those kids are alright

I don’t believe for one minute that they were cooking drugs. They’re just too stupid and ignorant to be involved in that

I guess it's the second story with the weird outdoorsy neighbors but you got to get information out of the kids so let them come over and play but just kind of nonchalantly ask them about things that's what I do.

They’re hoarding trash and other materials in their house and trying to make it less homey so the spirits go away

The Gift card Karen, I would have told anyone who dealt with her to not accept the gift cards, and to not hand them back. They have to be able to prosecute her over that.
