  • So here we are ... I got the exhaust on, figured out how the Cobra works n out for some tunes.
    The first 2 clips are from a rainy day, so I didn't go 100% WOT , the 3rd clip was a better day, and coooollld lol. I did go WOT that day, and had made a fueling adjustment.
    I left pot 1 the same,
    Pot 2 reduced a little below 3 from 3
    Pot 3 turned up a bit to 3 , as the bike felt a little flat in the first two clips.

      BONES Thank you for watching. It's was , and is an awesome mod, and I can see why you do it. The tuner really helped with getting the bike to run right.

      BigBadWolfMoto Thank you, I love the new sound. It snowed again after this, and they dumped tons of salt on the road... Now the weather is nice, but salt is everywhere, waiting for a decent rain to wash it all away.
      Take care.

      John Cain The roll on got me, hahaha.. I had just made a minor change to pull fuel from the mid, and add to the top end. I am happy.

    Oh yeah baby, that sounds like my kind of bike now! I had some quieter pipes on mine for a bit but I could hardly hear it. I definitely like 'em louder. I always wear ear plugs too. That is a great upgrade, nice job!

    • @dbest1aVlogs
      @dbest1aVlogs  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      gfish66 I am an ear plug wearer also. I didn't have them in for the last video clip. I usually don't mind a quiet bike , but the extra noise is welcome.

    I just added the same Cobra slip on on my V Star Deluxe 1300 and I must say that the video does not really give them any justice on how they sound. I am a very please person. When doing my research on which pipes to purchase you video helped me make up my mind.

    I cannot believe how nice that sounds. I am really on the fence between getting a Vstar1300T. Option is Indian Scout, Suzuki M90 or the Vstar1300T. Your video really made me think hard about it

    • @dbest1aVlogs
      @dbest1aVlogs  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      ST1300ful hmm.
      First thanks for watching.
      I did end up putting a smart parts baffle in it to shut it up on the highway.
      That's a real choice you have there. I never rode the m90, but specs seem pretty nice.. 5 speed 1462cc liquid cooked and slick designing. The 1300 is pretty nice with some decent mods that can be done. I cant complain. I did ride the Indian scout 60 , that was a nice ride.
      Definitely a hard choice. I would say it up some demo days and ride them.

    • @dbest1aVlogs
      @dbest1aVlogs  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. I later wrapped the inner baffle with stove rope to help keep the tone down on the highways. Now it shuts up quite nicely. Barks if you get on it still though.

    Thanks for this video! I have a 1300 as well and I’m considering doing the Ivan’s flash. Do you have any recommendations for upgrades to the exhaust or air intake after doing the Ivan’s flash? Would this slip on cobra be a good choice? Thanks again for your videos!

    • @dbest1aVlogs
      @dbest1aVlogs  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The cobra slip on is nice, but loud. If you like loud then you will be happy with it. I was able to reduce the decibels a bit by wrapping the pipe with stove rope, and adding a 2nd small baffle. I ended up selling the pipe though due to deterioration issues. Now I currently run the stock set up drilled for a bit more flow.

      @@dbest1aVlogsI'm thinking about replacing Cobra long shots with a lightly used Cobra 2in1 slip on. I read that the 2-in-1 slip on may be just as loud. Curious to get your opinion. thx!!!

    I have the exact same bike and year. Where did you get your windshield with the vent? I have the cobra air intake and slip-on muffler. Also had the Ivan's ECU flash done. When I shift down it sounds like a Jake brake. Not idling really great either. I also disconnected the O2 sensor but not sure if that made a difference? You said you also have the fuel controller as well as the ECU flash? What fuel tuner did you install? I think my bike is running a bit too lean. Any ideas on how to fix this?

    • @dbest1aVlogs
      @dbest1aVlogs  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The tuner is a cobra fi2000 with the manual knobs.
      At the time, He flashed the bike n told me the bike might be a tad lean at wot . (IF I remember right) which is why they also offered the pc5 that he would put the tune on. I ended up figuring out that I could tune it , it took a while but I had it running decent up top and mid range and not too lean or too rich . It was a lot of smelling and seat of the pants tune with the cobra. I have to use middle grade gas in temps over 70 and I drop new plugs in every season. I did take off the cobra slip on cause I couldn't take the noise anymore. Lol. Now I'm running stock with drilled baffle. I like quiet better. Less responsive though.
      Shield was a cee Bailey with vent. They don't make em anymore. See other videos I got a reckless now with freedom shield. I ordered a new freedom shield that's coming tomorrow.

    Bad gone I wish you would have showed us how you install that underneath your seat and adjusted it the way you wanted to that's the best part

    • @dbest1aVlogs
      @dbest1aVlogs  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      What do you mean the cobra efi?
      It just attaches to power and ground . Then lift tank , and unplug injectors. Then plug inbetween.
      I only adjust the top end circuit.
      My bike is flashed.
      I would ride, and then adjust till it felt good.
      I did end up pulling the baffle and wrapping with stove rope, and also installing a smart parts baffle. This helped to tone it down a bit.
      I did have to turn the fuel down a bit though after that. I also regained some low end grunt with that set up .

    That's a nice sound! It's got a nice rumble, but not obnoxious like some bikes. On the highway, does it ever feel like your bike could use another gear? I've been wondering about picking up a 1300 for highway cruising, but I'm nervous the 1300 engine might be wound up a bit high for my taste on a 75mph highway.

    • @dbest1aVlogs
      @dbest1aVlogs  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kcducttaper1 It can be , I have the Stryker gear, but haven't put it back on yet. At 75/80 it can be a little buzzy, due to the tall gears. Around town I'm usually in 5th . On my trip from NY to SC , I was doing 65 / 70 most times, and it was fine. I didn't go much faster than that due to distance, and fatigue. Back roads it shines though The bigger 1800 yamahas cruise highways better, but guzzle gas.. I was getting about 46/47 mpg with the 1300. It also does good 2 up, It'll pull like it was 1 up. Just gotta up the rear spring, or swap to a progressive rear shock which I will be doing next month.
      Btw the other pulley is from a Stryker.
      Thanks for watching

    • @Kcducttaper1
      @Kcducttaper1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the reply! I'm not familiar with the Stryker gear mod. Is that just swapping the rear pulley with one from a Stryker?

    • @dbest1aVlogs
      @dbest1aVlogs  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kcducttaper1 No the front pulley.. If you follow the belt to the front. You will see the front pulley. You have to remove the cover, then pull the pulley bolt with a socket size that I have to remember the size of. Then loosen the rear axle. Take note, or a picture of the rear axle alignment marks. Actually the marks will be in another position because the new pulley has 1 extra tooth. Anyhow, once you loosen the axle, you have to turn the alignment bolts to allow the wheel to move forward. Then pull the pulley off, put Stryker on , and then snug bolt . Back to the rear, redo belt tension, and check both marks are on the same notch on each side of the block. (Brake and clutch side). Manual says find the slackers point in the belt to measure tension, which I try to do, but never seem to have much luck with. Once aligned then button up the rear. I can do a video on it next month once I get the progressive rear shock, and do the install video. I'm gonna retry the Stryker pulley then. Last I had it on was with the car tire, and it threw things off by too much lol... 4th gear felt like 5th and 5th felt like 6th . Now I have the commander2 bike tire back on should be better, as it has shorter diameter.

      @Kcducttaper1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cool. I'd love to see an install and review video on it!
      My dad did a similar mod on his Vulcan 900 and it seemed to bump up the bike's 'happy spot' by about 7 mph. If it does similar things on the V-Star 1300, that should handle 75mph very nicely I would think.

    Is the fuel controller necessary to use the cobra slip?

    • @dbest1aVlogs
      @dbest1aVlogs  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      rapidhockles depends on other mods.
      Slip on n intake yes
      Intake n flash stock pipe ... no, but you can
      Intake , pipes , flash .. yes..
      The extra fuel does help. I am not adding much . Right now I am adding very little fuel which has the bike running mint.

      No, not really. Mine ran fine without a fuel controller and the slip on but I ended up putting a contoller on to try and tame the off idle hesitation.
