      My tip, start by slightly adjusting your sliders untill you like it...don't slide them all the way to the left or right but sometimes you only need a "+15" change...and just play around untill you like it, if you photo is too bright you slightly darken it and visa versa

    • @RennieAsh
      @RennieAsh ปีที่แล้ว +21

      My tip, open an image and go through all the sliders one by one, sliding them all the way to the left and the right and back to zero, so that you can see their effects.
      Also play with the light curve

      Xiomi is way ahead in night photography than Samsung as I am using xiomi 12 pro since last more than 1 year. It captures low light photos with stars and comets in just 5-10 secs without any expert raw mode or anything.. just hit night mode and you get such pics or go in more option adjust some settings and cool photos

    This is bloody brilliant! I have wanted to do astrophotography since I was in my teens. Always figured it was beyond my means (at least back then it was). I've been on the fence in getting a new phone, Iphone 14 pro max or the Samsung S23 Ultra. This video has helped me decide on just this ONE feature. It will still be a few months before I can get my phone as I need to pay off my current one, but I'm totally excited! Thanks for making these videos and showing that my one time passion is possible again!

    • @lotharen
      @lotharen ปีที่แล้ว

      Does the Samsung take multiple pictures when you do Astrophotography? or is that an iphone only thing? I am trying to decide which phone to get because I want to use it for this very purpose. At the end of one of your videos you said the S23 is good but you were going to stick with the iphone. Are you planning on releasing a video on your thoughts on that? Appreciate the videos you have made. I've learned a lot over the weekend. Now I need to step back and let it all sink in lol.

    I have been taking shots like this for the past couple of months using the S22 Ultra with Photoshop Express to do my editing. I have some really fantastic shoots of the moon and stars, but I did it using an exposure of only 30 seconds. I just recently got the Astrophotography app and have attempted to get some shots with the exposure set at 4 minutes. I have yet to have seen any results that didn't end up with the image being completely washed out. I'm quite familiar with photography as I used to develop film in high school and have been an amateur photographer for many years now. I first became familiar with digital photography after purchasing my first digital camera before being deployed in the Army to Iraq. I love using shadow silhouettes, like some of the pictures I took during my deployment reflect. My biggest issue is the way the stars sometimes look great while others times they come out looking like blurry dots. Nothing more frustrating then taking the time to set up a shot, getting it exactly where I want, waiting 4 minutes for the shot to be taken, only to find out the image is either too blurry or washed out that even editing can't fix it. I would love to see you do a video on how to avoid having these same problems I have had. Also, what settings like ISO, focus, and even which lenses do you feel yield the best results? Your videos have been very helpful to me.

    It would be great if the amount of noise reduction could be adjusted. It looks like it pulls a large number of stars out in the noise reduction process, which is pretty typical for phone processing. I've done a lot of astrophotography with DSLRs and was always blown away by how many stars are actually captured, so it's a bit unfortunate that the phones strip most of them out in the stacking/alignment/noise reduction processes.

    Also, might I make a suggestion? I would highly recommend doing the editing using Dex and an external monitor. I made this mistake of editing photos using my phone, which looked good on the phone, but once I blew up the image on a monitor I see all these artifacts and things that makes it look terrible. I now use my PC monitor to do my editing on. This is just a suggestion to any of your viewers who are getting into taking nightshots. It might save them the trouble that I went through.

    Hi there, i have never tried to do a night sky capture before. I am currently using a samsung S24 (not the ultra). Ive just downloaded the expert raw so i can try it this evening, but i wanted to know if my other setting should be on ultra wide or wide? or does it not matter? do i also need to change the speed and ev settings?

    I'm into long exposure street photography, love this possibility of night photography, but I'm thinking, this expert mode can be activated at day time? I mean, putting an 10 stops ND ? I'm going to upgrade my phone and I'm between the Xiaomi 12T pro and this S23... any thoughts would be appreciated very much

    I think something is wrong with mine. I tried taken a picture of the moon tonight and all it is a big blurry bright light... my TLC 20se has taken better moon shots.
    I'm so annoyed.
    Also, when you take a zoomed in Pic, is it suppose to randomly sway. It's almost like the lense is free floating and doesn't do it the whole time but soon as I'm focused and want to take a shot or something, it's floats/sways. Idk, i never had that happen on any other phone..
    I'm also having issues with it with, say I'm reading down the comments. All of a sudden it flicks and goes back to the top of the page..
    This phone is brand new. I just got it a couple days ago

    Man! For night photography, i guess you haven't tried any of the Nubia Z series phones yet! I would like you to try and get one and try it. You'll be amazed. I bet the results will be like never before. Try once

    I don't know on the Ultra, but on the S23, the astro mode locks you into ISO8000 and is pretty noisy. Being 'expert' and 'pro' modes, it is odd you can't set a desired ISO. Your level of glow from your town 4km away...I get more glow from my city at over 150km away. Bortle 1 is a 650km drive.
    I have regular gear for astrophotography, but like having a capable camera in my pocket at all times. Over all I love the S23 as a camera that aslo make phone calls.

    What would be the benefit of taking a 10 minute photo verus the 4 minute? Would the photo be clearer or see more stars? Thsnk you for the video.

    hello on the Expert Raw video you advised me to stay in auto focus auto
    There you place yourself in auto focus 0.7
    Why this backtracking on the method?
    For me the focus is rather sharp at just over 0.9
    and between 0.8 and 0.9 it's blurry
    Otherwise the best for me is not even in astro, it's in expert raw and 25Mpix 8s iso 800
    much better than the 4min or 10min astro mode
    at 12Mpix, there is much less detail
    and there it is wow
    THANKS

    Not really into editing images (like to see what can be done with just the camera)
    Got the S23 ultra because of the advertising for the moon pics and was impressed with what the AI could do. Ended up taking pics of the stars because I found the expert raw app for the camera. I was quite impressed as this is the first time I've tried this stuff.
    When I get a better tripod (currently have a 30cm tripod i sit on my car roof) i will try for some better looking stuff based on your videos.
    I'm also interested in catching satellites and meteors but I need to grab myself a battery pack for that stuff because of the battery life.
