Thanks for the vid man. My screen has been dodgy for a long time so thought i give it a shot after watching this, had it running in the background whilst I did it and it made it a breeze, apart from the amount of glue on my screen it was horrific, but we're looking fresh now!

Where do I find these screens? My Ram has been driving me nutz! I have had the "Ghost Screen" issue for a while now and nobody seems to want to repair them near me so I found you and I want to try doing it myself. Thanks
@bj_from_the478 well it didn't go well at all. First off the screws on mine were way too tight to the point where most of the screws were impossible to come off. And secondly somehow I manage to rip the ground wire fml. So that's it I guess for me. I have to buy literally the whole entire radio box.
I follow everything instruction with the exception that I used rubbing alcohol. After all was said and done I realized that the lcd screen was already cracked. Car came like that when I bought it
Hey man thanks for the video! My touch screen officially went into ghost mode and it's time to do this. The delamination is bad. Question though when pulling apart there is a small black wire that came off between the two circuit boards. Any idea where it goes?
I’ve seen other videos where they just clean the original digitizer & LCD screen then put tape around the edges to act as a heat barrier. Everything seems to work fine. But I see that you didn’t put tape around the new digitizer. Now is that because the new one already has some type of adhesive that goes around the edge? I have a ‘17 Chrysler 300S that has this issue. So I don’t know if I should try cleaning the original one & seeing if that works or just order a brand new digitizer?
Really appreciate you showing the work you do on these. Just seeing one come apart shows what needs to be done. Thanks! What I didn’t see was a link to the digitizer you install, but maybe you’ve got that on a website somewhere.
Well long store short some of the oem digitizer cost almost 200$ from the dealership and I buy them in bulk and I offer my services using those digitizers your best option is too go on Amazon and type 8.4 digitizer and read the reviews and make your choice 👍🏿
Great video ! Everything worked pretty well .. I cleaned all the goo.. put it back together and there’s still some glitching going on. I had used a thin layer of double sided tape around the edge . Is it better to have the overlay screen close to the lcd screen ? Or set slightly above the? My jeep had a thin edge of tape? around the edge , unsure if there’s anything I did to the overlay screen backing that could cause glitching still.. It’s def better but still some issues
I’ve been looking around for a while with no prevail. What type of adhesive is used BETWEEN the LCD and the digitizer? I’d assume it would be best to replace that along with the digitizer to prevent the digitizer from sinking in onto the LCD.
I can appreciate you changing the screen but I don’t have the patience so I just ordered the whole front piece for 375.00 on Amazon. Just as fast as you got that front piece off, just as fast the new front piece going on. Love the video though.
No I have because it’s very important no too use a chemical like that because your actually clean the lcd screen basically like or home tv and you can destroy them screen
I used 91% alcohol .. cleaned everything and it was better but my screen still gets funky and does what it wants under certain areas.. I bought a new digitizer and it’s worse !!! Should the digitizer be separated by double tape on the edges ? Is it possible the LCD screen was damaged ?
Cleaning the glue film off may help you Butt it’s really a film the had a poor design and started to deteriorate under heat over a period of time so if I was you just change the digitizer and call it a day the new one is better they don’t use the film in them
Good video and quick question: after "sticking" new digitizer to the screen, do you have to press it in some way so the new adhesive is evenly attached and won't have bubbles left etc.? Kind of like putting screen protector on the phone where you can use a credit card to get bubbles out. Thanks again man!
You shouldn’t have any bubbles because the digitizer is not supposed to actually touch the lcd screen just make sure you clean the screen very carefully before installing the new digitizer
Do you think putting a screen protector in between the screen n digitizer will stop my glitching cause I still have it happening ? Should it be a lil more spaced out so the glitching stops ?
Just finished watching your tutorial on the digitizer and you did an outstanding presentation , thanks . My 2018 Chrysler 300 is having with the radio switching stations , the A/C switches temperature by itself among other things . There is that shadow on the screen . I had the problem with the radio switching stations in the past and it was fixed by the dealer , under warranty . Could the problems with my unit be caused by the digitizer or is there more to it . Thank you . Semper Fi
I’m taking my jeep to the dealer this weekend. I had the jeep for 2 days n it started acting up on me smh. I’m hoping they don’t give me the run around n not cover it
I used the two products in this video to get the glue off and everything seemed dry, but when I put the new digitizer on I saw something that looked like moisture in the middle of the screen and when I put it in the car that part doesn’t respond to touch…. Do you wait to place the digitizer on after cleaning it? I’ve ordered a replacement and I’m going to try again in a couple days
Great idea Butt this video was made too show the average person using little skill and household tools too fix there radios didn’t want it too be too complicated 👍🏿🙏
@@bj_from_the478 I replaced my digitizer thanks to this video. Thank you! I got one without adhesive applied to the new digitizer. I wanted to let you know I bought Zep 505 degreaser from Home Depot and it worked much better than goo gone.
I’m going through the same issue on my 2017 300. I checked into buying the entire radio 1,999 new. That’s crazy 🤪. Just like you said, it’s a common issue with these Uconnects. So I finally broke down and bought the front piece for 375 on Amazon. Hopefully this one last longer than 5 years.

Question... My Uconnect screen still registers my touch and still works but there is no picture. Is that just the LCD panel that needs to be replaced or something else
@bj_from_the478 so the panel itself was fine about 6 months ago then it slowly started going bad. Started with android auto not working or causing a fit whenever it was plugged in. Then the screen started having fits like it would glitch out just the screen but the touch locations were in the same spots

the screen in my charger still comes on there are no cracks or bubbles in my screen it is just completely unresponsive to touch could that be the digitizer?
It might be the center stack. It really Needs a scanner to be hooked up to it and see what the troubled codes are. If you have a code that says video input Malfunction/fault. It might be just the screen. But if you have Can bus data issues you would have to fix those first. It's a very good idea to scan all the modules in the vehicle and make sure There is no Communication codes. Especially from the BCM.
Is the ribbon cable what makes the screen's touch aspect work? I separated the digitizer from the screen and got it all cleaned but the ribbon cable that attaches to the digitizer came off and now the the radio works again and doesn't ghost dial but I can't touch anything on the screen. There is no response when I touch anything.
