Thank you so much! Without this extremely well made instructional video I would have never been able to figure out why my PS4 failed let alone how to fix it! Thank you!!!
Many thanks Andrew. I just fixed my Slim by replacing the F6202 with a F5104 from a spare SAB-001 motherboard. At first the replacement didn't work. After that I suspected the fuse wasn't properly soldered onto the motherboard. so I touched each end of the fuse with the tip of the soldering iron to reflow the solder. That fixed the issue :)
@@mareklindemann626 In my SAD-002 i could not find the F6001 fuse. I found F5103, F6201 and broken F6202 in the same area- and I'm just about to fix it.
SAD-002, at least for this portion, looks the same,I found two blown fuses. I havnt replaced mine yet, I'll update when I do. you can get them on ebay. www.ebay.com/itm/PS4-pro-slim-eject-blue-ray-drive-Fuse-f6202-repair-dead-blu-ray-drive-no-power/274392024381?hash=item3fe30a053d:g:5iUAAOSw4k5e3wWD
On the ps4 I fixed thanks to one of your videos (not slim but it had the exact same problem). The fuse wouldn't come off with hot air so I didn't even try to replace it and solder the one I picked from a PC motherboard on top of it. Worked perfectly and I didn't risk to damage the pins more that way.
I've done a bunch of these repairs on Slims and only one on a Pro so far.. this issue is still a problem.. more of a problem on the older standard model. The PS4 is the 360 of this generation. Great Video.. keep up the good work :)
Do you know if the F6202 fuse on the Pro is the SMD element right next to the F6201 fuse, which has N marking for a fuse but the other I am not certain if its a resistor or a fuse ( has no continuity for me )
Hi Andrew, big thanks for all the work you do! I have an SAE-001 (CUH-2116A) with this problem, but all the fuses I can find on this board that you mention check out fine in continuity, 6201, 6202, 5001 and 6001. Board layout is different though, and I can't find any schematics. Any chance you're familiar with this model?
Do you know the values of the fuse? Voltage and Amperage? I need to replace it but I don’t know which one to get! Can I use a fuse from a Nintendo DS motherboard?
Nice one Andrew. Had one of these last week...used my only donor board for just one fuse. Do you know if any of the fat models have the same fuse values? I have a ton of them laying around but I don't know if, say, a BDP-025 would have the same fuse values. Water, Water everywhere and not a fuse to drink!
Great video, I've had quite a few come in with bad fuses. I'm still not sure why they keep blowing since after replacing them it works fine and doesn't blow again. I need more scrap PlayStations.
Go to www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/bourns/sf-0402fp100f-2/?qs=lYGu3FyN48euKtEKaujB7A%3D%3D&countrycode=US¤cycode=USD That is the fuse he replaced in this video and is for the PS4 slim
These motors peak at relatively high amps when they start - after a few years with dirt / dust on the rollers and a lack of lubrication on the mechanism it takes more effort for the feed motor to advance the mechanics, thus drawing more peak power and eventually blowing the fuse over time. It can also be caused by helping 'push' the disc in as it auto feeds - this is a bigger issue on the slim PS4 as they use a lower rated fuse which exacerbates the issue. Typically, if you're finding your fuse is popping often, clean the drive, lubricate the mechanisms and replace the feed motor - they get weaker over time and again can cause premature fuse failure.

Having the same problem. After the 7.50 update this morning my drive stopped working completely. After the download my PlayStation slim turned off but didn't restart automatically and when I did It wouldn't accept or eject with no noise. When I went to safe mode it said I still needed the update despite it showing it installed.
Question: Will this problem not repeat itself since we don't know what caused the blown fuse? Or do these types of fuses inevitably blow due to peaks in the network/old age.
so. if all 4 of these fuses pass a continuity check, but i have no disc feed, i either need to replace the motor board in the optical drive (KLD 004) or the whole optical drive right? for perspective, inserting a disc into the front of the drive to trip the switches on the motor board powers on the console if it's off, but does nothing else. no feed, no rolling, no noise.
Got a PS4 Pro NVB-004 motherboard that keeps blowing fuse F6202 which is Blu-ray drive related. What draws off of it is the BD7764MUV and\or the Rensas\Mediatek chip
Unfortunately the laser and drive motors work on other PS4s fine. Tried two drives same result. Placing a disc in the drive slot turns on the PS4 but it does not and cannot pull it into the PS4. Making the PS4 think there is a disc in the PS4 I see and hear the laser lens (not the laser unit) move up/down ever so slightly then nothing cause the fuse goes, doesn't ever get to the point the spindle motor spins or the sled motor moves the whole laser.
Unfortunately I'm not skilled enough and don't have the tools for IC chip reworking. Can I ask though do you know if the BD7764MUV chip is responsible for movements of the micro stepper motor / sled mechanism inside of the laser unit? I ask this as the fuse blows when there is movement on that motor.
Hi Andrew thanks for your clear explanation i've found fuse 6202 blown and replaced it but i still can't get the BD-rom working again! i checked also other fuses F6201 and F5103 and they're ok. is there any more fuses to check for BD-rom supply?

Hello what causes this to happen. My gf had a ps4 slim with a faulty power supply and we took it to a repairshop. After getting it back the console worked fine but the disc drive would not take discs. I think they must have mishandled the motherboard upon replacing the power supply. Because the cd drive worked just fine before the repair. Any thoughts? Thank you. 😊😊
I have the same motherboard and I have no voltage in the motor, the cd does not enter, it is hard and all the fuses are correct, what could be the fault?

Hi, if you have not yet solved it, it's a 1A micro fuse. If I've helped you, can I ask you a little favor? I would need a larger picture of another component on the PS4 Slim. Let me know thanks!
2016 console first time takes in the disc but when you eject and try to insert in one more time it refuses. onece it is restarted some times it also refuses, some times it feeds. what is the problem?
Exactly the same issue here, and same open fuse. The loading mechanism is working apparently fine, because I’ve disconnected the FFC ribbon that gets to the motor and applied about 4V to loading motor and it loads/ejects OK. Any idea of which is the Amper rating of these fuses? I don’t have any donor to get the fuse and I never bridge any fuse. Otherwise I’ll have to solder the thinnest wire I can find (from some coaxial braid, etc.).
I’ve soldered a 1A 125V axial minifuse in place of F6202. I’ve found a post in a forum stating that this fuse could be a LittelFuse 435 series, 0402 size, 1A 32V very fast. Luckily there’s enough room for my "large" replacement close to a coil. The metal cover has extra space there and doesn’t touch it. I’ve put some kapton tape to prevent any accidental contact. It works again, thanks!
I bought this replacement part from mouser www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/littelfuse/0402sff100f-24-2/?qs=QV10cN0MjFvTV4lTEzj4NQ%3D%3D&countrycode=US¤cycode=USD

How about a PS4 that takes disc but not how it should, really slow and sometimes have to help it finish it's job. Also when it does finally take the disk it gets read problems
Hi, can anyone help please, I changed the fuse (the old one had no continuity) but the disc drive still doesn't work? Thanks
Is it possible to apply soldering on F6202 directly instead of removing it ? Others have done it at it worked but is there any risk ?
Отлично!
that was my solution thank you very much
Hi, please tell me what is the value of resistance ?.
Anyone know where I can get a F6202 fuse at?
Is the fuse location the same on the SAD-002 all 4 fuses check out good but drive is still dead and I changed the drive and it’s still dead? Any ideas? Thanks

I have taken my mates PS4 apaprt and I seem to have the same problem. - symptoms were not taking a disc and wouldn’t take the 7.50 update. I have tested the continuity of all the fuses in this video and F6202 is blown. Do you take these in for repair and if so how much please? Cheers, Tom
thank you very much for such a good video, it has served me too much, in fact I have the same damaged component, I would like you to tell me the name of this component or the link to order it by ebay, I would greatly appreciate it, I liked you and I subscribed, waiting anxiously your answer, best regards (sorry my bad english)
Hi, if you have not yet solved it, it's a 1A micro fuse. If I've helped you, can I ask you a little favor? I would need a larger picture of another component on the PS4 Slim. Let me know thanks!
Hello , where can i buy this micro fuse? I dont see it on France thanks
Conseguiu arrumar?
Would any Fast Acting 1A Micro fuse work?
Do u advise doin this myself.as no where round me dose.this.i have a new ps4 now but wanna fix my old.one as ive only.had it a few yrs
Could soeone explain how to know which part exactly it is once the open line is found and where to buy a replacement online?? Thanks!!
I bought this replacement part from mouser www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/littelfuse/0402sff100f-24-2/?qs=QV10cN0MjFvTV4lTEzj4NQ%3D%3D&countrycode=US¤cycode=USD
The fuse number should be written on the board next to it and there is only two sizes I believe depending on weather you have a fat PS4 or a slim ps4
Very good and true video
HI, In the case of a ps4 pro, which fuses should we check to know if they are blown?
