Fantastic, saved from the boredom of a quiet Saturday. Thanks Andy.
Where do you get the fuse from? and can you use an alternative like a wire etc?
I have a board bdp 025 can i put a chip in a bdp 010
Hello,
I would have liked to know what was the reference of the fuse that you changed on this PS4 daughter board with the Q on it and that the arrow reference f501.
Cordially
Bro i have lost my capciter it was to small i was taking out the one you told and with that few capciter came out then i didn't known how it will go in
9:26 what temperature do you use to remove the fuse?
Where i can buy the fusible?
Nice video Andrew you are the master of ps4s would like to see more vids of xbox one on TH-cam as I have one that has no sign of life at all know it's not power brick if you have xbox one no life of power could you record to give some pointers. Keep up the good work mate 👍
I do more and more fuse replacements for disc feeder Issue to the point I'm running out of donor boards. This issue also happens on the PS4 Slim. I have done a couple of those.
Thank you brother, I am following you from Iraq.I benefited from your information very much.
hi Andrew nice job but tell my where you buy that new fuse?
Where can I buy replacement resisters that u replaced. Not sure what kind of resisters they are. Please help
Such an underated channel✌️✌️
Brilliant video another great one very useful much invaluable information covered.
Hi i have a ps4 white light problem and need advice.
So i traded a faulty xbox one original for a supposed faulty ps4 original from a person that fixes consoles that wanted the Xbox for spares.
So on the day i got home with the ps4 i used my ps3 cables to power it on and it miraculously powered on which surprised me as the controller was connected properly using the usb cable.
But i saw the screen flash black then back to the home screen which i didn't know what is was then it did it once more and was displaying perfectly.
After about 5 mins of waiting for it too show some errors or switching off because i did not expect it to work i plugged in my usb speakers to the other usb port on the front while the controller was plugged in.
That was when the screen went black instantly. I didn't know what happened and pressed the eject button and a copy of GTA 5 came out which means the console was still powered on.
When i plug the controller and speakers in on my ps3 super slim at the same time is says too many devices drawing power something like that.
So i think it drew too much power on the ps4 and caused a wlod on the ps4.
Im trying to do a home repair with minimal tools and if you could give me some idea of what the usb ports could have shorted eg a transistor or fuses or something.
It still powers on and everything but that was the defining factor i think that contributed to the white light of death.
Any recommendations would help as ive watched a lot of TH-cam videos and most are the ic chip or some transistor .
Its a original ps4 with wlod 1116A
i have a playstation 4 with this same bdp-025 board that at first wouldn´t feed in the discs nor eject them, but if you put them inside manually it reads them properly.
i have cheched the bdp board and found only the f203 blown (the other 3 are fine) so i just made a jumper on that fuse and now the drive ejects the discs but still doesnt feed them.
any idea on the matter? where should i check on the motherboard?
thanks in advanca and great videos!
I'd apply some power to both sides of the drive motor to ensure it's freely spinning in both directions - if it is, then I'd look at the 6-pin FETs towards the end of this video here: th-cam.com/video/LXlKFiB3A9w/w-d-xo.html
@@AndrewPaul i was just looking at that video.. thanks a lot for your answer. checked the resistors and they all seem to be fine and around the same values you show there (also the two transistors) . now i´ll have to see if i can get some replacement parts to change those elements.
It´s a fiend´s playstation so i hope i can help him with his lockdown.
again, thanks a lot for taking the time to answer.
Hi Andrew, I have a board here I've checked those fuses you said they are fine, drive is dead no beep from the eject and doesnt pull discs in what next?
Tried to check f6202 and it was bridged by the previous user. F6201 was intact and seems to be ok.
Should it work with just a wire on the fuse f6202? Just to test it
Or does the ps4 actually detect if a fuse is present vs a wire ?
I just don’t want to keep ordering fuses if it won’t even fire up in test mode.
We're can you buy replacement parts
Hi andrew, I was test the board bdp-025... All fuses are good but the eject button don't work and went I put a disc nothing happens. it annoys me xD... I do not have that kind of chips.. So I think, I have to but another board
Thanks for the great info and video. Thanks for fixing my drive with this video, much appreciated.
WOuld you be willing to do a repair for this board I have one that I know this board is the issue. It wont accept a disk. Already tried a new drive . When I use a extra drive board I have it takes the disc but wont play a game it gets the error because it isnt married? Im at a bit of a stand still and hope you can help.
That's good in a way - if the new board allows the feed/eject function to work, it's likely a fuse issue. Check F203 on the existing drive board - if it's open, replace it with the one from the donor and re-test. If you're wanting to send it in, I offer services to the UK and EU - if you're located anywhere there then I can very likely help :)
Hi Andrew, this is the second time I have a problem with fuse F203. I replaced it 3 years ago and now is blown again.
Do I need another donor board, or can I just buy a fuse in shops?
If yes, what are the official rating for the fuse? Can you use a resettable fuse (in case it exists for this model)?
Thanks
Yes - you can use a Panasonic ERBRD1R00X.
@@AndrewPaul Thank you! So using this fuse for the F203 (on BDP-025) is safe like using one from a donor board? It has the same ratings?
hello good video, I have the same problem with the f203, will you have a purchase link.
Yes, this is a direct replacement.
These can be found from most component suppliers like mouser, digikey, RS etc. Type that part number above into the search on those sites and they should appear.
cuh-1116a is compatible with BDP-025 and KEM-490, where can I look on the motherboard if the reader is compatible?
@Andrew Paul F203 fuse not working. Where can you buy or get such a fuse? What happens if I just connect the contacts?
Don't be tempted to do that, it can do permanent damage to the Renesas controller which will render the console a paperweight. The fuse you need is a Panasonic ERBRD1R00X or equivalent.
What is the temperature you used to desoder and what microscope are you using
What is that zero ohms fuse Current value.
So I just sold both points of f 203 because I don’t have a replacement is that dangerous and if it so can you explain?
Hi, yes it really shouldn't be done - that fuse protects the power control circuit between the Renesas IC and drive motor - the fuse tends to pop because of an over-current event (typically because a fault has developed within the motor, or poor maintenance of the mechanics / dirt / debris which means the motor is having to work harder). Without the fuse this will feed back directly into the Renesas IC, permanently damaging the circuit and as this is a per-box component, rendering the console disc drive unusable and the console itself unrepairable for that reason. Always replace the fuse as this is a common enough event and at some point will likely re-occur somewhere down the line.
@@AndrewPaul thank you
@@AndrewPaul thanks for answering my question, then I’m gonna use a fuse from a ps4 slim that doesn’t work:)
I have replaced my disc drive and also checked the fuses and replaced those on my original board but my console still won’t pull a disc?
Is this on an original, fat PS4?
Andrew Paul yeah, it’s the cuh-1116a model
See towards the end of this video - it's likely your FETs are bad.
Andrew Paul thanks for the reply, I’ve ordered another BDP-025 board, gonna try and swap the Renesas chip like in one of your other videos! Cheers
I had exactly the same problem no drive feed, after replacing the fuse the drive feed started working but it wouldn't recognize the game, I tried a donor BDP-025 and it was able to recognize the game but it wouldn't play it because it wasn't the original one.
Any ideas?
The Best !! Thanks Andrew 🇵🇦
Just wondering why u don"t use new parts???
A lot of the time we do - for small surface mounts like this though it's often easier to use a donor to ensure the exact spec component is replaced like for like - we've no schematics for these things as they're locked in Sony's service centres so cannot completely identify exact component spec for instances like this.
Please hoy to fix ce-35888-2 error on ps4 slim cuh 2006b
hey after the fix bluray is accepting and ejecting the disc but it wont spin ! and its making a bit of small noise but very poor little noise coming from the laser ! is there something that i can try ? by the way thanks very much for the upload
Is it like a 'click'? If so, it's likely a dead laser. if the laser is burned and cannot see the disc, it won't spin.
Why did the fuses blow? There must be a reason why.
Se7enity 2020 sometimes you push ur disc too hard
There's a multitude of possibilities - as @FallenWolf says, it can be as simple as someone forcing the disk in as it self-loads. These motors peak at fairly high amps when they start - pushing it can exacerbate this condition. The main causes though are a lack of lubrication / build up of dust / dirt inside the mechanism. The motor has to work harder to activate the mechanism which again can pop the fuse. On older machines, the motors can begin to fail which again will pop the fuse.
Wht u putting same like water??
That's flux. It helps create a clean, well wetted solder joint when replacing the component.
Thanks man
Awesome video
U r the best bro
nice job Andrew sent you a email did you get it
I did mate - just dropped you a reply.
Great video, good detail, so good in fact that I got a SAD-002 board fixed last night. That's the good news but the bad news is that can't update it. It's giving me SU-41350-3 error saying that it can't find the update files either of them and I tried 2 different usb drives. The controller works just fine so it's not the usb ports. Could it be some confusion between the RAM chips and the APU? How would I diagnose such a problem with a multimeter?
To adreesse my playstation slim problem ic hdmi
These use a Panasonic MN864729 HDMI Encoder IC as per the 1200-series machines.
Great video! You received my email? Thanks!
Hi Walter,
Yes i did my friend - just dropped a reply to you now :-)
@@AndrewPaul how can I get that fuse or some renplaso
thank you very much, I changed the fuse and the disk started spinning.🥰🥰🥰😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘
Excellent news!
