- This is Tony Award winner Kristin Chenoweth (The Apple Tree, Wicked, You're A Good Man Charlie Brown, Pushing Daisies) performing "If You Hadn't, But You Did", a song from the 1951 Broadway show Two On The Aisle, with the Boston Pops Orchestra.
She recorded this song for her debut album "Let Yourself Go".
This song is so funny and she performs it so wonderfully.

Allow me to answer some of the questions below: This is a Boston Pops concert we did at Boston Symphony Hall in 2004, I think. The guy is me: Seán Martin Hingston. Kathleen Marshall choreographed and directed the concert. It was a concert that KC started doing about 2003 and I did this show with her all over the country a couple of time year for about 8 years. We both loved doing this song together and it always got a huge reaction. Notably, we performed it at a memorial concert for Adolphe Green at the Shubert theater,k shortly after his death. In 2010 we did "Promsies, Promises" together, on Broadway.
This is FANTASTIC! You really added a lot to the song's presentation. Kristin is so perfect with the vocals, and to be able to do the physical things with this song at the same time is just phenomenal. Your timing was just fantastic. All of this together is just an AMAZING musical number. It is very entertaining. I could watch it again & again. Thanks so much for commenting on this. I am glad I got to say thanks to you. I met you at Bryant Park while you were doing Promises Promises and I also did see you perform with Kristin in Concert twice...The 2004 Carnegie Hall concert (I remember IF ended the first half) and her 2007 concert at the Metropolitan Opera. Both concerts were amazing and you both are really talented. IF was always my favorite moment in Kristin's concerts. That song always cracks me up!! Also, my dad even knew one of Kristin's ex voice teachers in NY at the time Michael Sinclair (now a Lawyer in LA). Michael gave her a photo of me and left me a signed Wicked Playbill and Photo of her in costume as Glinda. She recognized me after the Carnegie Hall concert. Still love KC. She's been a huge idol of mine as a performer.

Not only is she gorgeous and has an incredible voice, she also has perfect comedic timing. If she weren't so adorable, I'd be jealous.
Kristin is so adorable in this. She has such great comic timing and the facial expressions she shows in this is just priceless. She takes command of the stage and really entertains an audience. Her singing is of course perfection. This type of singing dialogue songs is most difficult to do I am told. It shows her Broadway experience. Kristin is the greatest all-around entertainer of her day. I would love to see this PBS show on DVD! A Song has no better friend than Kristin Chenoweth!
As amazing as she is (and she IS amazing!) I have to say that I'm really blown away by the guy playing Joe. He's one hell of a great dead guy!

I love the comment in the beginning about how do you learn all those lyrics and physicality at the same time... All I have to say is this is NOTHING for Kristin. She was first a highly trained opera singer, then a crossover. A girl in my voice studio studied in hs at the university Kristin got her masters in, and she heard Kristin there back when he was in her grad. She is TOP NOTCH. Extremely highly trained....... Music theatre obviously epic won when she crossed over...
They don't teach you how to do that when you're training to be an opera singer - but Broadway stars know how to do it.

Chenoweth is a jewel, to be sure, but this much-too-busy rendition doesn't hold a candle to Dolores Gray's stops-out version on the marvelous original cast recording with Bert Lahr.
