Miss the Brecker Brothers. One of my favorite songs. So funky you can smell it. Thank you. I had the LP but of course almost 50 years later, I don't know where the hell it is.
Love Mike Stern was in Germany and found the "1992 The Brecker Brothers Live" and it was a shock. So great, i've always put this as "music for musician".. the first piece is.. "Some Skunk Funk", the second one is the one i do prefer in the whole album, "Common Ground". This is what the essence of music should be.
I love this song. Had an opportunity to see the Brecker Brothers with Will Lee and David Sanborn in 1976. One of the tightest bands I have ever heard or seen.
Yes! I saw the Bros. touring "Back to Back" at the Allen Theater in Cleveland about the same time. Will Lee is so good at so many things, I watch hours of the Letterman show just to hear the band.
The happiness that this girl has when playing the bass is contagious. You can tell that she loves to explain, that we discover bands and soloists that, to me, were unknown.
Hello Julia, how nice to see you again and with this tremendous music. In an upcoming video tell us how the tour has been, I'm sure many want to know!!!
Decided to take bass lessons ( started this week ) !! Yesterday I ordered my first bass 😍Looking forward to easter-egg-shaped shipping package 🤣 !! Thanks Julia and Thomann for all these videos 😄🎶
Hey Julia, I just wanted you to know that you taught me my first bass riff. "Papa was a Rolling Stone" from a previous video for beginners. Thank you! I'm glad I found your lessons!
Great playing, Julia! Everything you do is right on, real world playing and information. I'm a bass player and you have helped me so much. And I always have to thank you for the special on Chuck Rainey, he's from my area in NE Ohio and a big influence. Keep on doin' it!
Hi Julia, thanks for highlighting the genius playing of the Breckers brothers. To encourage the next generation of bass players could we have the next instalment of “Beginner Bass Practice Songs “ part 2 with : Keni Burke “Risin to the Top” War “Galaxy “Tenna Marie “Square Biz” and “Papa was a Roiling stone “
Yes! The B Bros ! Skunk Funk was even crazier to listen to if you were in college had a few liquid libations! 😊 Thanks Julia. Great job. It brings back some really fun memories. Dbl hand waves.
Verrrrry nicely done. Bravo! Another old one that you might enjoy is King Curtis' "Memphis Soul Stew" (1967). I hear a bit of Curtis influence in Michael Brecker's tenor playing... Hope you find the bass part fun!
Great stuff. The BB stuff from these period is so funky. Julia, what strings were on this Sandberg? Flats? Thomastik or Labella 760FL? You make them sound lovely.
Go girl…. Love it
I love when Julia goes all out! ❤
Serious funk

What a monster tone. And the playing was just amazing. As always really.
The horn harmonies all being a half step flat of the rhythm section is what makes this tune so great. Nice cover
They are wonderful Julia. Thank you very much. You have great command of the instrument and rhythm. You have a ten. I can't get there, impossible, 😳😳😳
I love this tune! Mostly I think about it from a sax player's perspective, but I might be taking up bass guitar for fun. Very well played Julia! 🎶🎧

Hey Julia, can you teach me to play that? I’ve never played an instrument, but I’m motivated.
