Looks like CLR did a great job removing the built-up calcium. But I have a bottle of CLR and the label clearly states, 'DO NOT use on natural stone or marble'. So there's that to consider. Maybe try a little on a small inconspicuous area first - just to be sure.

You da Man, Mr. F.I.N. I started off by buying some paste concoction from Home Depot, tried it twice over the weekend, by spreading it on and covering with Saran wrap and poking holes in it and waiting 24 hours for the paste to dry and IT TOTALLY DIDN'T DO ANYTHING to the fairly massive white-colored hard water spots on my kitchen granite counter top. But after viewing your video, and digging out the Magic Eraser and CLR that I've had for a LONG time, it worked just like you demonstrated. My wife is SO HAPPY she doesn't have to look at that discolored blob ANY LONGER! Thank you, thank you!

Wow! This is AMAZING! Our granite is 3 years old and though I've seen sealing the countertops, around our faucet has hard water stains. But I followed your directions and it looks like new! And so I resealed it now to hopefully prevent this again.

I see comments from folks who say that they tried and were successful with your method. A granite company here in town clearly states that CLR is a no-no on granite. The installer suggested baking soda and water and gently scrubbing with a soft bristle brush or microfiber cloth, then rinsing off clean.

    • @mikeholm7640

If you have marble then CLR or anything acidic (even vinegar or citric acid) will etch your marble. There are a lot better and safer ways to remove this that what this video is showing. 90% of this would have removed with a fresh flat edge blade, not the utility blade that he used.
Granite won't etch with CLR though so it's definitely not going to hurt it. You can tell if your countertop is granite by if it is acid sensitive and by it's look (at least a lot of people can tell from appearance who have a somewhat trained eye)

For some reason, I can never seem to get rid of them...I've tried CLR and every product under the sun (including professional grade products) but never have been able to get results...I've tried everything...what am I doing wrong?! I've never seen CLR break down the scale like that. I must be doing something wrong! Shower doors, granite, marble...hard water spots haunt me everywhere I go!! Help me! Is it the magic eraser? I've tried that too but no luck...Maybe the stains I've worked on are just too deep and the stone/glass is too far gone. Thank you for the video though! I'll try again! But any feedback would be great. Thanks so much!! :)

It’s the patience. Pour the CLR on (not spray) and let it sit and work like he does. Most people want to “just get done” when they’re cleaning. So, make sure you dry the area completely with paper towels, if you pour CLR,on a soaked surface, the water would dilute it, right? Get the pourable CLR. Pour it on a complete dry area of granite, let it sit for 20 minutes, come back and use the magic eraser. Probably will have to go to Home Depot or Lowe’s for your CLR vs. Target. That’s another sacrifice. My big issue is the razor blades he is using are more rigid than the flimsy ones I can find...

I used CLR on my huge shower basin and it’s streaked everywhere! I don’t know what to do! Please help!! I don’t know if I can restore it 😭I didn’t let it sit for 15 mins like you did but I did scrub it and rinsed it and it’s streaked and made it look worse on my black marble!
