this was a fun listen. Glad Elm pt 2 getting respect. I always felt it was very good and underrated and wished somehow they could have brought back Jesse to team with Nancy. Part 2 unfortunately is ignored in the overall story arc of 1,3,4,5,6.
Funny how Freddymania affected us all in a similar way. I remember running around in a Middle School (London) playground with a self-made glove. Had pencils sticking out of it, lol.

When she said to him "I don't know if you've noticed but I don't exactly fit in" I thought "You spend most of your time in your room doing weird paintings so I wonder why." I think Quentin just liked her ass because he was looking at it in the diner.

I assume some shots were done on a soundstage, but a lot of it looks like a real location too. I know that a lot of the interiors of different scenes were done at the Lacy Street production center in Los Angeles, but I don't think any of the boiler room moments were done there. I agree regarding Freddy's death in New Nightmare, pretty lame ending, but it's a very good film nonetheless. I'd still rank it 3rd behind 1 and 3. Good point about the Julie death scene, the hospital lights should have gone out for mood.

When I was younger, Dream Warriors was my absolute favorite. But i must say, it hasn't aged well for me over the years. It's still up.there though. 1. Nightmare On Elm St 2. Freddy's Revenge (if the ending was better, It'd be #1) 3. Dream Warriors (starting to get silly) 4. New Nightmare 5. 2010 Remake (only because I don't like funny Freddy that much) 6. Freddy V Jason 7. Dream Master 8. Dream Child (the kid annoyed me) 9. Freddy's Dead (liked it as a kid but not good) There NEEDS to be a well planned and executed revival. Although I am not too keen on the last act. Although there are some iconic moments. Freddy's Revenge: Didn't used to like this very much but its really really grown on me lately. That being said, I have always agreed that Freddy was at his scariest in this movie. Dream Warriors: Used to be my favourite and I still hold some nostalgia for it. It sadly hasn't aged as well I had hoped but there is still some impressive stuff in there. Dream Master: Really unnerved me as a kid. The meatball head really disturbed me for some reason and Freddy's death really made me feel sick. The movie is always an entertaining watch and I understand Dave enjoying it more than Dream Warriors recently. Dream Child: This used to be my least favourite. Found it unwatchable as a kid but again, it has really grown on me and I have come to appreciate a lot of things in it. Every time I watch it now I have the same experience, I am totally on board and loving it but then it just gets really silly / corny as it goes on.
In Elm Street remake they should have kept Katie Cassidy's Chris as the lead she had more going for her in the first 15mins than Nancy did in the whole film
I must say, I'm not afraid of snakes, but I truly believe that a nightmare Demon could figure out a way to make it happen lol I've had all kinds of weird nightmares that don't make sense if I'm awake. My only problem with that scene in FvJ is that Freddy finds out by accident. But...nightmare?

I've heard similar critiques of the remake, but it is hard to express the problem in a way that makes sense because the backstory is basically the same in both versions. I saw another video essay on NOES put it perfectly though: "they changed what was subtext in the first movie to text."
