Personally, I would much rather see someone thrift only the things they love and talk about the things they don't buy, than watch someone buy a bunch of stuff they DON'T love and then get to see it all again in the next closet clean-out. ❤ I also wouldn't mind seeing what kind of art and housewares are in the thrift store 🙂.
In your thrifting videos I like when you: -Point out clothes you think are cute but are the wrong size -Go through your cart and explain why you initially liked the items, but decided not to buy them -Show the try on haul of the small amount of gems you do buy I like how your videos show the reality of thrifting. 😊
I would be very happy with a shopping trip that ended with me finding three amazing pieces. Trift or normal shopping trip. I really think we should redefine successful because this, to me, didn't feel like a fail at all.
I think even if you find nothing, thrifting is a great time. It's usually a low-pressure buying environment (no salespeople asking you lots of questions), you can so easily see the trend cycles move in and out, and for someone who is trying to figure out who I wanna be now that I'm 36, looking at thrift stores where there is such a weird variety of clothes helps me identify what I like or don't like. But hope the next trip is better!
Thrifting always brings me back to being a teenager when I would shop “second hand” with my mother:) we would go on Saturday morning and then go for lunch afterwards. When I was at university my mother passed away. I feel close to her when I am out there “thrifting” on my own now. It’s all good memories. Being older it’s a precious memory of enjoying those Saturdays with her.
Lady! I feel you. It can be a bummer when you find things you like that aren’t your size, especially when the are too small. But ALL THREE THINGS YOU GOT LOOK FANTASTIC ON YOU! We don’t need to come home with a new wardrobe every time we go to the thrift store. You are modeling much healthier behavior.❤️
Thank you for being so real. I'm a plus size person on a weightloss journey and while I love thrifting while my body changes, I still struggle to find certain items. And I end up feeling defeated when I see all the cute clothes in small sizes.
I love this because this provides a realistic picture of what thrifting or shopping is like for any and all of us some days you hit the jackpot other days just an item or two that’s so so and it is totally realistic and totally OK to be extremely picky and selective and intentional. It’s really hit or miss and that is completely OK and you handle the situation gracefully!! Knowing that another trip you’ll find something just perfect!
I think it's really important that you also show thrifting experiences that weren't that great or successful because it is a realistic depiction of what thrifting is actually like. If people only see videos of people going thrifting and finding a bunch of good stuff every time they might be disappointed when they try it themselves and this doesn't align with their experiences and might get discouraged. Also, your thrift with me vlogs are always really fun to watch and inspire me to go thrifting whether you found a lot of stuff that day or not❤
I enjoy thrift with me vids even if you dont have a massive haul at the end. its not us as viewers who feel rewarded with the new clothes. for me its all about the visuals and about the person filming and her comments. so no worries! i love your real and honest videos most!!!!
I love thrifting videos. I love that I have the opportunity to experiment with my style a bit and not feel bad if I don’t end up wearing a piece often. I make sure to always donate back to the places I shop. The reality of thrifting is sometimes I sucks to only have a few racks to sort through while you hear S-M sized people commenting on how overwhelmed they are with options.
honestly, i'd carry the brown tank you were showing around 11:34 into the fall, layered over a white or lighter brown long sleeve or something, if the fit allowed for that kind of layering. Definitely a super cute find. Could see it pairing well with a knee-length or mini black skirt, semi-sheer tights , and booties or knee high boots. happy to see you really being honest with what you would and wouldn't wear, though. Certainly a good lesson to be promoting to yourself and your audience
Thank you for being real! & sharing your thoughts & feelings! Especially for us in between & plus size girls! Thank you for sharing your struggle! Its real!❤❤❤❤
I was constantly spontaneously thrifting and then wouldn’t have my tape measure. I ended up buying a cute little retractable one from Vera Bradley that I store in my glove box! Then it’s always there when I need it - and when I get back into my car after the thrift store I toss it right back in there. Maybe so that for yourself too!
Thanks for keeping it real! I'm sorry you're dealing with complicated feelings, but I do appreciate how you're sharing it so the rest of us don't feel alone, as it's something people don't often talk about
I love your thrifting videos! I totally understand the feeling of disappointment when you don't find much and other times it feels like you find EVERYTHING. I love seeing the fashion and try ons, but I also love when you look at home decor items. I'm not sure if you're not looking for anything for your home right now or just not feeling home decor, totally understand, just wanted to point it out in case you thought maybe people weren't as interested in that content. Can't speak for anyone else, but I love every section of the thrift store 😅 My friends call my apartment "grandma chic" and I'm not mad about it 😂 Either way, love your videos, the thrifting was what got me into your channel and I love it here. Have a great day!
I would really love to see a video of you doing a more commercial thrift /vintage window shopping visit. To see what’s the difference between general thrifting to commercial vintage store (like on Fairfax and Melrose)
i totally feel you about trying to stop buying things just cuz they fit... i have such a hard time with pants but once i started getting my pants tailored i stopped buying bottoms just cuz they fit. $10 thrifted pants (usually vintage size 14) and $20 tailoring.. so worth it!
I'm plus size and I tend to give away my old clothes on my local buy nothing because I know how expensive they can be. I know others do this too so that could be why there are not as many in the thrift shops.
The pieces you did find are gems, I love your style so much and I am here for the honesty…I know I can always trust what you say about things because you share the bad with the good. ❤
I'm really glad you didn't just buy to buy. I'm a size 16 in women's and size 18 in juniors and I have no luck at thrift stores. I have the best luck thrifting on Poshmark. But sometimes Poshmark is expensive. I don't think shopping for clothes at department stores is a bad thing as long as they are meaningful purchases you know? Anyway. I'm proud of you. You'll have better luck next time. I'm sure of it. ❤
I can highly recommend learning some basic sewing machine skills, it can be a great way to remedy items that are too big/short or even too small. As a tall girl (6’1”) in Australia it can be hard to find anything long enough but I’m teaching myself to sew which means I can upcycle op shop finds or even make my own clothes 😊
Hello Carrie, Thank you for always being so real and sharing the truth of thrifting for midsized/plussized clothes. Also i wanted to share that i work at target and just got to set the Pride display for this year. This year there are so many amazing Queer Creators in the collection. My favorite is Ash + Chess. They have amazing crew necks. I bought both of them and thought of you. One says "Queers take care of each other" I mean my heart. Also size xs-4x in store. 🎉
It's always the way with shopping, when you want to buy something there is nothing there. It's still good to see the thrift shops, especially being from the UK as we don't have anything like it
There's two thrift stores in my area. One only carries small, medium, and some large. And the other doesn't go higher than an XL. Which sucks really badly being a 2xl or 3xl sometimes. So I understand. And I love to thrift because you get great clothes at great prices but only when you're a smaller size. It's unfair. I'm sure there are beautiful larger ladies donating larger clothes.
You're 1,000% correct. I'm guilty of buying what's in my size - like that black leather trenchcoat (OMG). I don't think reg sized people realize the lack of clothing in plus sizes; used or new (the 1st to sell out). QUESTION: why isn't buying used plus sized clothing more popular? Ebay - pm - consignment - wherever. For me, I think I find my size so rarely that I've stopped looking. PS: fellow ADHD here, and I'm a visual junkie. My brain needs being flooded with images once in awhile. That's my addiction to thrifting.
Cute finds ! My local Salvation Army has quite a lot of plus size stuff. I have a feeling Cali might be limited in thrifted plus size clothes vs Ohio. It may depend on where you live. I have been thrifting for about 6 years and it has taken that long to have a well curated thrifted wardrobe . It's gotten trendy to thrift and there's so many resellers out there now too so it has gotten a little harder to find stuff .
I'm in northern Illinois and all the thrifts I've been to here have dedicated plus size sections that can at times be pretty packed full. I think it's probably more of a midwestern thing.
As a mid/plus size girly. Sizes 14-16-18 1x-2x girly..it's SOO hard these sizes in the thrift stores..but were still out here being patient and praying the thrift store gods are with us! lol
Sometimes the thrift store giveth and sometimes not so much! I've been looking for a black maxi skirt for a long time. They are always weird material, not my size or worn out. Some day my skirt will appear. Yours is very cute!
I don’t think you should call this a fail!! I totally get feeling that way as a midsize person that wants to enjoy shopping but if you love love the pieces you end up with it’s a win 🫶 love these vids
Amazon LITERALLY has tons of really cute black, tiered maxi skirts!!! I know you're committed to thrifting one, but if it doesn't really exist in your size in a thrift store near you, it's no shame to buy one new. It just seems you've been searching for one for SO long!!!!
I'm able to score so hard on clothes for my kids. There's always a lot to choose from and the stuff is in such great condition. Stuff for me on the other hand.... so hard to find. I am also a size 16 and it's a struggle to find cute items. So rare .
I also struggle with buying things just because they fit. Not because I actually love them. It's so hard to find things that actually fit at my size. Been much more mindful of that lately.
Would love to see you visit an antique store! Sometimes I just want to look at old stuff lol. Advice on thrifting home decor would be super helpful too!
I love charity shops but being a UK size 26 I have realised I will never find clothes my size so I stick to bags and shoes. Vinted has become my second hand go to.
I will get good vintage things at the thrift store for a good price if I know I can re sell it on my depop or give it to a friend or family member because some things you just can’t find in stores anymore!
You probably know better than us since it’s in person but I say try on the small skirt anyway!! Could run big or be stretched out. I wear large pants but still fit into some smalls stretched out from my small days lol
I’m sure you’ve answered this before I just can’t find it, but are your glasses prescription and if so where did you get them?? I’ve been looking for the perfect pair of aviators and these are so cute on you 😭
I’m straight size and have to show restraint myself!! We’re not really that different! I always like walking around with the item and then seeing if i like it at the end! I think you found some cool stuff! Love these kinds of videos… looking forward to more in store stuff :)
Still watching bc I love u but when I see a fail shopping video title, I’m less enticed to watch it or enjoy watching it as much bc of the title idk maybe that’s just me but wasn’t sure if that was some good input just from a viewer but wanted to share still. I guess I (personally) would rather know at the end of the thrift shop that it was a little bit of a fail than before I watch the video even tho a “fail” for shopping or anything isn’t a bad thing per say just like less enticing I guess to want to watch as it’s more abt the experience than if it was a fail or not love ya tho! 💖 super cute finds too!
As someone who is in a smaller body, your comment about the smaller girls talking about how they felt kind of rubbed me the wrong way. No matter what size or shape we are, especially younger women, we are all susceptible to body dysmorphia. I completely understand where you’re coming from and I’m sure their vernacular could have been changed when talking about themselves, but you don’t really know what they are or we’re going through to make them speak like that. I really hope that makes sense and comes across how I’d like, no hate at all towards you and your content I watch every single video! Much love ❤
Study question: Aren't there many smalls and Medium sizes because it's either clothing from very young age (15-20 years) where your body has the best metabolism, or from all the jojo effect diets??? I mean most L-3XL do not sit in the thrift store as they are being worn daily.

I do agree that retail therapy helps, regardless of how much you buy. Also your outfit today looks like a cool professor and as a librarian I've worked with quite a few!
I feel the same way; I hate those days when I am so excited to thrift and nothing fits and I get triggered. It is honestly the worst feeling! I am glad you opened up the conversation to this. Thankfully my husband is really supportive and will help me through those moments.
Love these thrifting videos! More small shops and flea markets would be cool to see. It might also be neat to do a donation haul, if you're the kind of person who drops off donations to the same shop you're about to thrift in (or just in general!)
I’m going through a horrific breakup. I’ve been silent trying to protect him and he’s saying all this shit about me in all the places we have shared friends. I needed this honestly
Oh no! I'm no expert, but I think continuing to take the high road is best. The people who matter will know better. It just makes him look ugly. Hang in there ❤
Personally, I would much rather see someone thrift only the things they love and talk about the things they don't buy, than watch someone buy a bunch of stuff they DON'T love and then get to see it all again in the next closet clean-out. ❤ I also wouldn't mind seeing what kind of art and housewares are in the thrift store 🙂.
Yes! 👏🏼
I feel this way too. 100%
In your thrifting videos I like when you:
-Point out clothes you think are cute but are the wrong size
-Go through your cart and explain why you initially liked the items, but decided not to buy them
-Show the try on haul of the small amount of gems you do buy
I like how your videos show the reality of thrifting. 😊
same exactly. i like to see it all, not just a successful trip
I would be very happy with a shopping trip that ended with me finding three amazing pieces. Trift or normal shopping trip. I really think we should redefine successful because this, to me, didn't feel like a fail at all.

I understand. My mum died when I was 23 and we always went thrifting together
Thrifting is seriously therapy. Doesn’t make me feel bad about the impulse purchases I go home with👏💕
Exactly! We save things from the landfill. Lol...me everytime I buy something I don't LOVE.
Lady! I feel you. It can be a bummer when you find things you like that aren’t your size, especially when the are too small. But ALL THREE THINGS YOU GOT LOOK FANTASTIC ON YOU! I love you for not just showing us constant consumption. It's really smart and good for our brains.
I love the realistic hunt! And I don’t know if you need any home decor, but I do love when that section of the thrift store is included in videos ❤
I enjoy thrift with me vids even if you dont have a massive haul at the end. its not us as viewers who feel rewarded with the new clothes. for me its all about the visuals and about the person filming and her comments. so no worries! i love your real and honest videos most!!!!
The tan check/floral dress is so cute on you! I love doing little white tee under dresses
Seeing you try on those slip dresses was so relatable! Trying something on and then giving up before it even gets over your head 🙃. Thank you Carrie!
When it comes to thrifting, it's quality over quantity ❤
Would love to see a Marshall’s/TJ maxx video. Clothing home stuff whatever you find!

I am JEALOUS of that black skirt! It's perfection!!!!!!
Definitely a win..those 3 pieces looked amazing on you! ❤

That heart slip dress is my favourite!!! You got three amazing pieces! :)

You need to go thrifting in the Midwest. Usually the number of larger sizes outstrips the smaller sizes.

the black skirt looks so perfect!!!
I’ve been looking for a black skirt like the one you found. It looks so good on you!
Yes to buying what you actually think you'll wear and not just buy something because it is in your size

I’ve had so many thrift shopping days like that! Love the honesty as always, and that first dress was super cute on you!❤
Got the the end of the video I LOVE THE 3 outfits you chose esp the 2 w white baby T … as always love your vulnerability so relatable 🖤🖤🖤
I dunno, a trip where you find 3 things that you love and fit you well is a huge win to me!
As a mid/plus size girly. Sizes 14-16-18 1x-2x girly..it's SOO hard these sizes in the thrift stores..but were still out here being patient and praying the thrift store gods are with us! lol
So much fun, I do miss the vlogs but I will take whatever you give😊
The first dress u got was SO pretty
The black skirt was a great find!!
Omg the black maxiskirt looks so beautiful on you ❤ Love your channel!
Your awesome for being honest openly sharing your experience 😊❤😊
These funds are so gooooood! I love the way you styled the little floral dress!
Sometimes the thrift store giveth and sometimes not so much! I've been looking for a black maxi skirt for a long time. They are always weird material, not my size or worn out. Some day my skirt will appear. Yours is very cute!

the black skirt was so cute!!!!!!!
The long black skirt looks so good on you😮🎉
Amazon LITERALLY has tons of really cute black, tiered maxi skirts!!! I know you're committed to thrifting one, but if it doesn't really exist in your size in a thrift store near you, it's no shame to buy one new.
It just seems you've been searching for one for SO long!!!!
That’s the hunt in thrifting sometimes we score and sometimes there are dry spells. But its all
In the name of fun!
I absolutely love everything you got!! You are soooo beautiful Carrie!!
Girl, it’s a win if I find ONE thing at the thrift store 😂 but I live in a small town atm so that’s part of it
I'm so annoyed that change rooms seem to be a thing of the past while thrifting. Our main thrift stores near me took them right out during Covid.
So happy you uploaded 😍
Being a 2xl I have such a hard time finding tops! It's nearly impossible for me. Even when I go into the men's section. 😢
Right when you were mentioning plus size (lack of) I was thinking the same us plus size ppl hold on to our items
I'm able to score so hard on clothes for my kids. There's always a lot to choose from and the stuff is in such great condition. Stuff for me on the other hand.... so hard to find. I am also a size 16 and it's a struggle to find cute items. So rare .
Even though you felt like the trip was a dud I really love everything you got! These seem like staple pieces you'll have for awhile!
I'm missing the vlogs but love the thrift content! 😍 these are my favourite videos aside from the vlogs ❤ keep up the good work! Love from NZ
I love the thrifting videos, hauls or not.
I also struggle with buying things just because they fit. Not because I actually love them. It's so hard to find things that actually fit at my size. Been much more mindful of that lately.
Thanks for your honesty!!
Carrie omg I love that black skirt on you!!!
Would love to see you visit an antique store! Sometimes I just want to look at old stuff lol. Advice on thrifting home decor would be super helpful too!
I was so sad that you didnt picked up this brown top. That looked so cute! But the dress you bought is an absolute gem. Really fluttering
I love charity shops but being a UK size 26 I have realised I will never find clothes my size so I stick to bags and shoes. Vinted has become my second hand go to.
Love All 3 items you bought!
I love the brown cami/tank 🤎
I will get good vintage things at the thrift store for a good price if I know I can re sell it on my depop or give it to a friend or family member because some things you just can’t find in stores anymore!
You probably know better than us since it’s in person but I say try on the small skirt anyway!! Could run big or be stretched out. I wear large pants but still fit into some smalls stretched out from my small days lol
Love the black skirt.
You’re being 100!!!! It’s VERY true!
You may not have found a lot of items, but those you showed at the end looked good on you.
We all have this problem. I'm a small or Xtra Small. There is hardly anything for me when I go looking. Anything in my size won't be cute.
X-Large people do hang on to the ones that fit us!
Study question:
Aren't there many smalls and Medium sizes because it's either clothing from very young age (15-20 years) where your body has the best metabolism, or from all the jojo effect diets???
I mean most L-3XL do not sit in the thrift store as they are being worn daily.
I admire your thrifstraint and recognizing when you wouldn't actually wear something. I usually realize that AFTER I buy it. I've had to teach myself to be more discerning. I do agree that retail therapy helps, regardless of how much you buy. Also your outfit today looks like a cool professor and as a librarian I've worked with quite a few!
Rewatching this video while I have the stomach flu in bed. Needed a friend to hang with lol
I feel the same way; I hate those days when I am so excited to thrift and nothing fits and I get triggered. It is honestly the worst feeling! I am glad you opened up the conversation to this. Thankfully my husband is really supportive and will help me through those moments.
Being midsize plus size girl myself I will say you look incredible own it
Love that skirt!!
Hi Carrie good morning happy Monday morning and I hope you having amazing weekend and I loved your vlogs and you are amazing Supporter
Love these thrifting videos! More small shops and flea markets would be cool to see. It might also be neat to do a donation haul, if you're the kind of person who drops off donations to the same shop you're about to thrift in (or just in general!)
It's best to buy inly what you really like instead of just buying to buy something.
Hi I’m new here and I love you 😂😊❤
Im kinda surprised that you struggle to find plus size thrift clothes coz i always just assume america has more plus size friendly stuff
