    I wore a 'non date' Submariner for 19 years and a few months ago I saw this watch on the net and fell in love. Soon after I turned my Submariner back into a pile of cash and picked up the Sixty Five with the bronze bezel. It's just so much more interesting than the Sub. Now I'm no longer just another 'me-too' Sub owner but a watch fan with an extra $5000 in the bank. I liked the Sub and it served me well, but this I love.

    • @TronaldDump69
      @TronaldDump69 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      So the sub you wore for 19 years was not beloved?

    • @danbrown4090

      Avresti dovuto tenere il Sub e comprarti il Diver 65!

    • @Kilimanjahro

      @@TronaldDump69 I can understand that. The "sub wearer" today is not the sub wearer of 19 years ago. As the "landscape" changes, so does the feeling within i guess. And "love" is a very overrated word to use discribing items as well isnt it?🤷‍♂

      @TheVisserthree ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@TronaldDump69 With an Oris, there’ll be less chance of someone is getting mugged. But I kind of agree that I would rather keep a 19 years sub instead of selling it. Not everyone is a collector, though.

    Been looking at Oris for the last couple weeks since I've begun looking for my first really serious time piece and saw the 65 line and this watch in particular is incredible. The bronze elevates this watch to a whole other level and the creaminess of the faux patina lume markers pulls it all together incredibly. I am really looking forward to this piece being in my collection. In the US Oris doesn't seem to be a very big brand, from my limited knowledge but I am really hoping I find one some where to see in person and try on since seeing a beautiful watch and product is vastly different than just a picture of one. Good stuff, keep up the great content!

    Well. It is funny to use a glove to avoid patina and you turn the bezel with your fingers when you have the hand in your pocket. Really nice watch.

    I just flipped mine after owning it 6 months. I really enjoyed it. Very comfortable to wear, nice size for my 7” wrist. The bronze detail didn’t patina but leather strap aged and darkened very quickly.Just a very nice watch with a cool heritage vibe.

    One reason I love Oris is, that they are still independent.
    While I can appreciate the benefits of conglomerates like the Swatch Group (saving brands from extinction) , it´s still nice to know there are independent brands out there.

    Nice review, Adrian. It's very cool that you established a relationship with the Oris CEO and you were able to be loaned some product for review. One thing about the ETA supply crunch that you mentioned. ETA worked on thst with the Swiss government about 8-10 years aho as you mentioned, however, they are not limiting supply today. They realize too much revenue and profit from it so they steeped up supply again. But as many companies developed in-house movements in anticipation of the supply crunch or went to Sellita, some have stayed with the change they made like Oris.

    Just bought this watch on a whim. I’m almost exclusively a vintage Zodiac collector. Was in a local AD today to drop off a seashell one of my boys found on the beach and asked to be made into a necklace. Saw this exact model sitting in the case and instantly thought to myself, that’s my next watch. They agreed to fit it with the steel bracelet as well as the rubber strap and by fault, threw in the leather strap.

Great review on a watch for persons like myself only a year in to the world of watch enthusiasm. Nice piece of editing there, like the transitions too👍🏻👍🏻
    I like the Oris 65 for its style. They offer it as well on a bracelet which has the riveted style like the tudors one.
    Only flaw for me is the just 100m WR. They could have made it 200 to make it a “real” divewatch. Sure, I know, not necessary but still: a divers watch should have divers depth rating.
    Anyhow it’s a phenomenal watch and I did enjoy, as usual, your Vid. Thanks and cheers from Germany, Konstantin 👍🏻🙏🏻

    • @Professional_Youtube_Commenter

      the depth rating is a bit silly, you have watches with 1000m depth rating but the world record depth for diving is something like 343m.

    My spouse is an artesan leather accessory worker. She makes, well, BDSM scene inspired fashion accessories but they are made with the same sort of techniques as watch straps. The reason the edges of the leather is sealed is because it greatly enhances the life of the leather. As I understand it protects from moisture ingress and stops the leather from fraying at the same time. So that shiny edge you don't like is there to keep that strap nice and usable for longer. Which seems smart to me especially in a highly water resistant watch with a leather strap - people are going to get it wet. Maybe the way to make it look old and patina'd is to, well, use it. ;)
    Speaking of the strap, I wonder if they tried using a piece of bronze for the tongue of the buckle? Would have been in keeping with the steel and bronze look.
    That bezel seemed really easy to turn when you turned it in your video.

    Agree. Oris is a wonderful brand, and this particular model is awesome. ETA or not is unimportant as both movements are really fine. What matters is a good design and a very nice size for a diver. But I have a question: at 00:14 you zoom in on an Oris. What model is that? Is it one of their historical pieces? Since you zoomed in on it you may perhaps know the answer...

    It has been about a year since I'm ogling at this beautiful watch, and the only thing that was curbing me was the 42mm case. Now that they offer it in 36 and 40mm (by the way what is the size of the one you tried ?) and that they sublimated it with some subtle bronze details, it's just a question of time until I acquire one. I have to. I NEED to !
    In my opinion this watch is a great option to get that authentic and adventurous feeling vintage watches can procure, without bothering about the "troubles" actual ones can come by with. Moreover it is available at a reasonable price for the quality..! What could we ask more ?
    I really enjoy the humble tone of your videos, and totally agree with you about the brut aspect they could have given to the strap, it would have been perfect !

    I have had one on my hands this morning in a jelwery and... I'm in love! Next purchase, for sure. In video it doesn't look specially interesting but when you have one close...wow! Elegant, simple, very readable, perfect diameter and slim, beautiful domed AR sapphire crystal... a bit overpriced (1.800 euros in Spain) for a common ETA movement but its aesthetics are incredible

    Hi Adrian a great vid, as usual. That is a lovely looking watch. I may need to check one out. But I would need to swop out that leather strap. I know that the vast majority of divers will never see any more water than in a bathroom, but it just feels wrong. But I'll admit that it does compliment the look of this piece. I'm a bit disappointed that you had to read the ref. number. I thought that a man of your calibre would have remembered it .;) Keep up the good work. Can't wait for the next one.

      Emre bey, gecen hafta oris 65 bronze bezel aldım. Hollandadan sevgilerle...

    I have this watch, I love it. Apart from the strap that is absolutely awful, the first one fell to pieces within four weeks and I got a replacement from Oris which literally fell to pieces in the first week. I have had to purchase a third-party strap for £40 as I have up on the Oris ones. This seems to be much better quality (even at the meager sum of £40).

    I've owned this watch for a couple of years, it has a great dial, the patina on the bezel gives it a lovely worn-in look, but the tiny date window detracts from it, and you need to be careful to not change the date between 9pm and 3am or you can block the movement. I did this accidentally, it was repaired under warranty at no cost, but it's easy to mistake the position for winding it up with the position for changing the date, so be careful...

    Hi Adrian, well I am a fanboy too. Have not seen this model before and love it. Don't know that much about movements but do know that eta's are supposed to be better than selita's. The same criticism gets levelled at my Aquis too, although I really don't care too much as long as it's reasonably accurate. Another great review and looking forward t the next one.
    Oh yeah loved the bag street, bag room mix too. Your getting creative now and I like it. Nice one mate.

    Superb. I'd have trouble deciding which dial option to go for though...as they are all gorgeous.

    Great review. But you show with the glove to protect the bezel, and at the end of the video you touch it with your bare hand to turn it....

  • @petesjk
    @petesjk 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    My Oris keeps time to within 2 seconds a day, so it seems a Sellita movement can run just as well as an ETA. Sellita has also hired highly regarded movement designers, so I don’t think there’s a fundamental flaw with their versions of ETA movements.

    Love the production quality and overall look of your videos! The music too (maybe put the artist in the description? I know the original but not this 'remix').
    For a brand that was not even on my radar a few years back... there are now many Oris watches on my wish list. With the Sixty-five and the new big crown pointer date at the top. Oris is becoming one of my favorite brands in terms of style. The value for some of their watches is great, but this is a bit more expensive than I thought it would be.

    Nice entry level luxury piece. For me the ladder up has been with the Sarb035, to a Shogun. Next up will be either that Sixty-Five with brass bezel or the Sinn 104 in white.

      Brandon, just tried both on, because I have a tiny wrist. The 36 looks better, but the lug width is horribly with the tapered strap.

    Nice review once again! I recently got the 65 with arabics and stick markers as I think that design has the most personality out of the heritage range. It came on the riveted bracelet which tapers from 20 to 14mm and is super comfy! Zuludiver also makes a nice aftermarket alternative for the tropic rubber strap which I got instead of paying a considerable premium for OEM.
    The movement is basically a downgrade from the Top grade 2824-2 on my last watch, the Sinn 556 I. It has been running very consistently at +8 to 10 seconds a day which is still completely passable to me personally, but I understand people's concerns about an Elaboré Sellita in the price range. I did get mine second-hand for quite a bit cheaper than at the AD.

    Great Video. New bronze version looks nice.. similar to the 40mm Movember Edition I bought a couple of months ago (they only had the larger 42mm version in store at the time which was too big for me). Looks great on Nato straps as well. The thin case thickness is the icing on the cake for me (Black Bay is way too thick, and more $$$).

    If only Oris had used a white date wheel and made the date-aperture the same shape as the 12:00 marker (but flipped upside-down) and outlined the aperture in the same bronze outline to help maintain symmetry... It's still a gorgeous watch though!

      Bought an Omega a few weeks ago. The bag was huge with Omega on it so my wife wore the watch and we left the bag in the jewellers until we were ready to leave the city. Only a short walk to car park, but even then wished we had another bag to put it in!

      Yup. I popped into an Omega boutique last week, just browsing, and they gave me the catalouges in a ma-hoo-sive Omega bag. I've never felt so vulnerable walking through Birmingham! I didn't want to get shanked just for some catalogues!

    Excellent review Andy. Oris is a very nice brand . I own the Big Crown D.26 286 with the green bezel which is limited edition. Amazing watch . Well made watches still low on price vs quality they offer. Andrian, do some review on Longines watches...Lots to talk about I think...cheers .

    Great looking watch, yes I agree with you on most points. I think the waxed edges of the band will wear off and expose the raw grain you desire in short order. I personally love the watch "as is". Have a great day!
