In this video, we're taking a look at the It's The King of Soap Bubble Bokeh, and Why You Might Need One. The TTArtisan 100mm f2.8 is a budget lens that produces beautiful soap bubble-like bokeh.
This lens is perfect if you're looking for a portrait lens that will produce some amazing bubble bokeh. Not only is the bokeh beautiful, but the lens is also budget-friendly, making it a great option for anyone looking to add a bit of bokeh to their portraits, without spending a lot of money.

Thank you for your review! I purchased one when they were announced to use with my A7iii and Pentax K3 with adapters. I tested it recently and was very happy with some shots I took along a local highway at night, set to f/2.8 focussed at infinity. If I can figure out how to attach an example I will post it.
I am looking forward to trying it out for night street photography around Sydney, Australia next weekend.

Fingers crossed that this kicks Pentax in the pants to not only make their new film camera but also put some of their old m42 lens formulas back into production.
Could make them a major lens player again.

Nice work. I tried the 100mm and enjoyed the bokeh but felt it was to tight..I have an old Fujinon 55 f/2.2 it's wider fov and cheap price makes it more versatile and the soap bubble bokeh is one of the best in the business.

How about Tessars and Biotars and Planars? At most, SLR Magic lenses are described as having almost vintage character. I'm talking literal vintage designs. Like this triplet.

Mark, thank you for work on alerting your viewers of inexpensive lenses. For me, most modern lenses & 📷 tended to be too sharp (tho not always a bad thing) or sterile (not a good thing). I find vintage lenses produce visually interesting images better than do my current lenses. This TT Artisans lens looks like a future purchase. Do you know if other focal length (50 or 65mm, for example) of this design will be included in the future. Thank you again for your review. Looking forward to discovering other alternatives from your work. ✌🏼& 📸

I enjoyed the images out of the Sigma 24-70, but found that lens to be very heavy, and I prefer a lighter setup for travel. I would go Sigma 28-70 or Tamron 28-75. If you are using the ZV-E1, FX3, or A7SIII, with the crazy good low light sensor, then I would go with the companion wide zoom, Sigma 16-28 or Tamron 17-28. If you have one of the other cameras, I would go with the Viltrox 16mm. Zoom lenses are better travel lenses, as a rule, as the most important part of capturing the image is having the right focal length. The other lens to consider, is the Tamron 20-40, it's small, affordable, and great, it's my main lens on my ZV-E1, but I do miss the reach of the 28-70 at times, but the 20 on the wide end is very useful, and the lens is very small.

Then the handheld weight is lower then the 24-70mm sigma

I understand the company Meyer Optik Gorlitz company (based in Germany I think?) makes some rather beautiful looking m42 lenses. One of which, the Trioplan 100mm would be a direct competitor. Saving the rather more expensive price…
I’m a little confused as to what is going on with the company at present, though? The old company name had been dormant for decades, then I think was bought and newer lenses were made, but there were reliability issues, and then the company re-started with production back in Germany. I’ve really wanted to try some of their lenses out, particularly the re-make of a classic Zeiss. Perhaps you can find out more for us and review some of the lenses? Vintage lenses can be pretty hit and miss. Fungus and oil on the aperture blades is common. Focus and aperture rings won’t turn as smooth. The most famous designs keep creeping up in price. Personally, I’m excited that someone is making affordable vintage-style lenses with modern manufacturing, since now I don’t have to deal with the risks of eBay.
I’ll be even more excited if the eventually release some for APS-C sensors with extra short focal lengths that never really existed for this kind of vintage lens. I bet there aren’t many 33mm triplets out there, or 40mm biotars, but TTArtisan might make them, and maybe even with autofocus to combine old-school character with modern convenience. It’d be an interesting niche for a lens company.
