It's definitely doable with the horizontal, but now having both machines like you guys, I haven't fired up my 9-16 since I got the vertical 😂😂 it's so much easier on my back standing up and having such a large wedge to bust off punky stuff. Hope you guys are great, 🍻
The results are in Heath, the little lady kicked your butt. I have a horizontal and have been thinking maybe a vertical would be less work at my age, 72. This vid just nailed my decision. A vertical and conveyor would be a sweet setup. Thank you for the comparison!
Yes she did! The vertical splitters are definitely easier to run solo in my opinion. Ultimately the horizontal with multi split wedges etc will win in overall production output but the vertical definitely has its place!
Atta girl Rachel. Ya put a whooping on Heath. Lol. I like that vertical real well. You could move a lot of wood in a hurry. I help a buddy of mine once in a while and he took his horizontal and turned it vertical and built a platform for it and he will keep me supplied with wood and we’ll get a couple of pickup truck loads done in no time. Y’all keep up the great work. Bruce in Wv!!!
the Eastonmade Axis takes the cake when your working on your own with the oak rounds on the table, all muscle wood will need a 2nd person helping you or conveyer will be a lot easier, if your doing production,
Not going to lie, I was cheering for Rachel, she's tough like Nolean, Rachel would have finished sooner if she kept splitting multiple slabs at one time. I also noticed Rachel in the beginning when one piece started slipping at rhe bottom, you put your hands up. I thought to myself, smart move, hands clear. Great job all around with this demonstration.
either one seems fine to me. I'd take the horizontal probably. Like if you were giving them away.. lol That's how i shut my machines off, i idle them down, then stop.
Th Eastonmade with its very large cutting blade and the upgraded Super Axis 2 second down stroke cuts the most narly wood going with no problem. I have watched a ton of wood splitting on different youtubers and the Eastonmade is the best vertical splitter on the market bar none. At least in my estimation. Wish I had the $13,000 for one.
It would not have mattered which splitter Racheal was running. She would have won. She is that much more proficient on either splitter. Not to mention she doesn’t waste time when she is handling wood. Throughout all of the videos she rarely has just one small piece of wood in her hand. Great video loads of fun.
Rachel I figured you would take it , It’s your technique ( split faster than Heath ) . Heath you gave it a good try my hat is off to you. Time for a cool down.
For me at 74, that vertical makes a lot of sense. Both with good work height. Both good machines. Both with elevators, well I say the hori would have won because of the four way. Good video though guys. Cheers from HB NZ
Thanks, I do agree that the vertical is a bit easier on the body. For pure production the horizontal with the multi split wedges and elevator would be fastest.
If you want to further handicap the race between the vertical and horizontal splitters, require the scraps to be cleaned up. 😁 As was shown, for a solo operation, it is hard to beat a vertical splitter.
For a solo operation I think vertical is an easy winner. I honestly was surprised how badly I got beat though with only 4 rounds. That’s a lot of time/production over the course of a day.
If I had a choice I would get the vertical with conveyer unless I wanted to use a box wedge then I would get a horizontal splitter.. Regular firewood I would get the vertical splitter. If I was making bundles and road side stands then I would get a horizontal splitter with box wedge. The only reason I would get a horizontal splitter is ifor the box wedge
I would love a box wedge for the horizontal machine. That does make horizontals much easier with the pullback arm and box wedge. Overall working alone and our situation the vertical has the advantage. We had an elevator and we’re producing bulk. The horizontal would definitely be the machine to use.
@@hardworkingmanoutdoors it’s as quick and efficient as they look in all of the videos. Depending on the size of the rounds,…they’re as fast as a hydraulic splitter with a four way when you’re just quartering up heating wood. I have the HD model. I run it at half throttle all of the time. I think you might keep it if you get your hands on one, 😆.
ANOTHER GREAT SHOW, WAY TO GO RACHEL, GOT TO LOVE HEATH'S ENTHUSIASTICS, CAN CLEARLY SEE HIS PASSION YOU PEOPLES WORK GREAT TOGETHER, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. AS ANOTHER MENTIONED, A SPOILER ALERT WITH THE HAT? HUHM
For this application, the vertical is the winner. Rachel worked it just fine while Health worked harder and messier, mostly due to the horizontal. Very good comparison.
Wow. Can't believe how much the temperature dropped. Halfway through the video the temp was 120 and then at the end of round 2 the temp had dropped to 90 :O Any time that the wood has to be split in more than 1 pass the vertical is going to win. Just too much handling to do with a horizontal.
Vertical serves the purpose. My Northern Hydraulic is both but the Honda engine is to close to the I-beam. I've split oak rounds on the Vertical 6ft.in diameter. Between 75 and 80 pieces per round. You're 6 ft away from the splitter and you have to support the round until you get it in half.
You lost to a girl, her work station was neat and tidy on both tries compared to yours I guess you have to give your big boys pants to your wife, she won fair and square. No joking what is the cost between both splitter and which is more efficient to run. I'm not asking how much you paid it's just for a price comparison, it's no one business on your financial situation on these machines.
On your original splitter wars it convinced me into getting the countyline 25 ton splitter my neighbor has a North star and we did a little competition , I smoked his butt
I’ll be honest, when I set that one up I thought the North Star would smoke the other 2. But it definitely didn’t! That’s why we do these to show fair, honest head to head comparisons. Glad you’re happy with your choice. Out of those 3 the county line impressed me the most.
@hardworkingmanoutdoors to make matters worse for the north star the neighbor is at least 20 years younger than me so that really tells the tale on how well it did
The vertical is definitely easier to use when working alone. Now, if you had the right size rounds, a multi split wedge and a conveyor the horizontal will definitely out perform the vertical.
Thanks, we try not to do commercials, we will share products we believe in and sometimes those videos can get a little long and appear like commercials. We always be sure to mention or mark the video if it is one we are obligated to do because we received a product. One cool thing about being offered a lot of products, which we turn down most is that we get to test and share more products. For instance we had a few laser engravers which we tried and thought were pretty good. Then we got offered a new brand and tried it. We quickly found out that we were using an inferior product and can now help others avoid spend their $$ on the lesser machine.

It is definitely nice having both available. The double handling of the wood definitely adds time!
Looks like pete is working smarter, with motor for trailer coupler. Good watch
For sure, thanks.
Can’t beat a vertical for quality precision splits and ya can’t beat a horizontal for production bulk wood .
For sure! Having both is a blessing for sure.
That is not what I expected for sure! Nice job guys!
Tony, me either!
No Contest, Rachel is already shining.
She always comes out on top it seems.
What it boils down to me is if you want quality use the vertical/single wedge, if you want speed go with horizontal splitter with the multi wedge
Very true!
Heath and Rachel great job. Please keep the videos coming. You two have to much fun. Always a thumbs up 👍
Thank you, and we will.
hey you guys ..we all know the axis is faster cause its rachel the operator..hehe keep up the good vids luv it from canada
Rachel is a smooth operator for sure.
RESPECT! Hey, it's your show/content... you do you!
Thanks Dennis.
Just the results I thought! Nice work H&R 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
I thought it would be a lot closer. Double handling the wood adds a lot of time and even more work!

Nice video! Rachel is fierce... just admit it Heath!! You need a conveyor... bite the bullet and get one, it will amaze you!
We definitely need a conveyor! Total game changer for production.

Thanks Bruce, they sure are nice to run!
fun show best to both john
Thanks John, try not to get too hot, it’s brutal out there.
I bet on you. I am surprised. Good test.
Thanks, I thought I had her in round two. I greatly underestimated how long it would take me to stack the splits.

For sure.
Great video. That trailer mover looks cool
Thanks, we love the TRAX dolly!
Yay Rachel nice wins
Thanks Kent.
Slow is smooth, smooth is fast.Rachel is smooth
Yes she is.
I like the vertical, but what about the portability and storage footprint?
The footprint or space needed is less, but it requires a taller door to get it inside a garage!
Very interesting
Thanks.
Vertical for sure! 2:15
The double handling of the splits killed me.
Not going to lie, I was cheering for Rachel, she's tough like Nolean, Rachel would have finished sooner if she kept splitting multiple slabs at one time. either one seems fine to me. I'd take the horizontal probably. Like if you were giving them away.. lol That's how i shut my machines off, i idle them down, then stop.
I’d love to give one away some day!
Can't wait to get my new axis
That new access looks awesome! The original access is awesome so I know the new one is as well!
Vertical for larger diameter (my preference), horizontal for diameter. Definetly a conveyor.
I agree!
Rachel has more time on the splitter than Heath! He films she splits!!! 😂
Great job Rachel!!!
You aren’t wrong Ben lol.

The Eastonmade Axis is definitely nice and the new axis is really impressive! Plus the company stands behind their products!

She definitely is smooth one running the splitters and smooth is fast.
Could have told you she is very organized and has good speed.😊
Yes, she is, smooth is fast.
Rachel I figured you would take it , It’s your technique ( split faster than Heath ) . Heath you gave it a good try my hat is off to you. Time for a cool down.

Rachel Rd 1, toss up Rd 2
Close but she smoked me in round 2.

The only thing left that you don’t have, or haven’t demoed is a Super Split log splitter, 😁.
I’d love to run a super split but don’t know anyone who has one and is close.

Love you guys but please when you’re introducing next as hard working man then using a Trax 😂
Need the Trac or a truck or tractor to move the All Wood! I can barely lift the tongue off the ground! It’s heavy!!
Hard working lawn mowing LOL. I sell more firewood in summer than winter, spring is my worst sales period
I agree! We need more wood, all of the mud on this side of the state over the past year has really slowed us down.

Round 1 was close, round two was not what I expected.
Rachel!
Where is the question?
😂
lol, thanks for the vote of confidence Thomas.
Rachel all the way she willwin causes she can use her foot and keep her handsout of the way
Yeah, she didn’t mess around!
Vertical for the precision.
Definitely more precise and easier to run for this type of splitting.

lol, I may have exaggerated a little. It’s like when I spend $$ or when Rachel does.
Hmmmm, wonder which mower brand you chose...
Or do I just like the hat?? Video should be releasing later today that may answer that question.
Okay
Thanks.
Heath, you had to hustle to keep up. Plus you put that last round with Rachel 'cause you knew you would have to slow her down.
I definitely had to work harder trying to keep up. I did not intentionally give her that punky round but I’m glad she got it and not me lol
Vertical definitely serves a purpose and does make busting up the big rounds easier.
And good Canadian made!!!!?
Both are very well made splitters.
good video and job Rachel smoked you and worked half as hard. i would love to have a Axis a lot less work. both of you take care, be safe and well.
Thanks and yes she did!
Thanks and yes she did!
Vertical all the way!
She would’ve beat me both rounds except she tried to get too pretty and around one and I just edged her out around two she left no doubt.
Is that a Wright mowers hat ?
It is, but did I get it with a Mower purchase or did I just get it? I guess you’ll find out soon enough when we start releasing our new Mower videos.
Vertical without a doubt.
I was surprised how quickly she beat me when I finished splitting a decent amount ahead of her.

I didn’t just lose to her. I got beat bad lol and yes, she kept a much neater workspace. I had a lot of cleanup to do when I was done.
Well done Rachel. Heath was cheating. Im guessing your hat says what brand mower you bought.
I didn’t cheat, I will say it is a nice hat.
I just paused the video, im saying it was a draw. Ill be right back, lol
Rachel kicked your ass😅
Yes, yes she did! I thought I had her too and the all of a sudden she was done and I wasn’t even close.
@@hardworkingmanoutdoors good fun

Is it? Or is it an intentional bait and switch??
