- The Log Father FULL CORD Challenge! Rachel runs the firewood processor and I try to keep the log deck full! These oak logs weren’t nearly as nice and straight as we had thought once we started digging in to the pile but we ran with it anyways. Follow along for some real world splitting as we see how fast we can process over a full cord of oak on the firewood processor! Join us at Dyna Days in Millington Mi on July 19 & 20 2024. IBC totes for firewood, no rotating pallet forks needed!

Thanks to Kenny from @OpenAirAdventure for tagging us and thanks to the @thelogfather5002 for putting on this challenge. We may run it again with some better logs! @buckinfirewood

Andrew was right again - the quality of the wood is a critical factor in how quick you can run these machines.
For sure! We’ll get a better batch of logs and run it again!
Thats really good for that processor in that pile of logs. Great work guys!
Thanks Andrew, we will get some better logs and try again.
Good one. Nasty logs for sure.
Can’t wait to see what the new tractor is.
Always thought that one you have was a bit big.
Rachel gave you the look. 😳
Have a great day. 👍🏻👍🏻👋👋
Thanks Noel, it was a bit big. I’m excited too.
ANOTHER ENTERTAING VIDEO "GULS", LOVE HOW WELL YOU WORK TOGETHER AND RISE TO THE CHALLENGE, "JOE'S" TERM FOR VOMIT OAK IS TRUE ON SOME OAKS, LIKE HEATH SAID SOME OAK SMELLS GREAT, LIKE WHITE OAK IS A GOOD SMELL TO IT, ON OTHER HAND WET RED OAK SOUR LIKE VOMIT, MY FAVORITE BURN/FIRE PIT WOOD FOR SMELL IS BLACK WALNUT.
HEATH, YOUR PASSION FOR A CHALLENGE IS UNRIVALED, BUT NOT LIMITED TO JUST A CHALLENGES NO MATTER THE TASK YOU ARE UP FOR IT. KNOW YOU'RE STRONG, WATCH YOUR BACK BUDDY, I FOUND OUT HARD WAY, WITH EVERYDAY BACK PAIN FOR 6 YEARS NOW. BECAUSE I WAS STRONG BACKED AND WEAK MINDED AS WELL. KEEP UP THE LESSON'S WITH RACHEL SHOWING HOW TO GET IT DONE TOGETHER.
KEEP EM COMING
Thank you, we appreciate the feedback no amount of definitely more careful with my back now than I used to be but could still be more careful.
Y'all are too cool😊
Thanks!
Great job!! Looking forward to maybe adding a processor is a couple of years!! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
Thanks David, they are nice for sure!
A great try!👍👍
Thanks Jeremiah, we’ll run it again and do better.
OaK is my favorite smelling wood to cut and stack.
I really like it too.
You all and dyna did the best you could with the poor crooked logs you bought. I hope you got a great price on the load. If not, throw that loggers business card in the 🔥
Thanks, hopefully there are some better logs in the rest of the pile.
hi again some where in y/t i did one split and stacked 1/3 cord in under 20 min, a cord would take 1.5 hrs because i would have to reload the bucket .start thinking in man hours per cord , and cost efective. i think you need to separate commercial wood hounds from home heaters , there will always be something bigger better faster , the real question is how fast can you afford .the guy with the deepest pockets should always win . great show john
Very true. That’s one thing I like about the Dyna is that people can rent them which helps make them more affordable to the masses. There’ll always be bigger better faster. Labor saving is key.
That is a nice machine.
Yes it is! Thanks.
Good job guys!
Thanks! It was fun.
Good hustle guys! feel free to submit another time is fine for me... You've got till Labour Day. Cheers, Jeff
Thank you, it was fun. We’ll clean a few things up and run it again!
Hey, guys. I think you did extremely well, as you always do. And you don't fake it like some others do. God bless you both! Chip
Thank you Chip!
I love how you guys show the realities of processors. Right now I am using a Halverson and when things go bad it’s bad and you are hopping in an out and of the skid to adjust or rearrange. It’s not all glamorous but makes for a great day nonetheless. Then comes the re-splits 😆
We have the HALVERSON 120 and love it but we know your pain. I’m trying to talk Larry into doing the challenge using our HALVERSON Outdoors with Larry and Robin
I want to see you guys run it!
We love the Dyna and definitely will get better running it as we go. Overall it’s great but processors aren’t always smooth sailing, good wood matters for sure. We appreciate the feedback!
@@hardworkingmanoutdoors Maybe one of these days if I have my kids helping, we can do a video. I’m not cut from the same cloth as you guys, I don’t particularly enjoy being on camera but let’s see maybe I have one of those days.
4 regular (1000L) totes is 1 full cord.. you guys made closer to 3.5 to 3.75 cords .. great job guys.. that Dyna is a beast of a machine.. and that's for the shout out!!
Thanks, we’ll clean a few things up and run it again. I knew we made over a full cord but didn’t realize we did that much over.
She need a little short pickaroon to help with jams and stuff! Great vid!
Yeah, I need to pick up a shorty.
Mountain Top Outdoors log supplier gets logs that would be great to run through a firewood processor. They are practically logs that could go to a sawmill. There is also nothing in the rules that says you can't do the challenge more than once to improve your time. 😉
Yes they do. I’d love a load of logs like that!
I'll straight up say it: There's no one on TH-cam that looks better running a processor than Rachel🐰! Check out that manicure! And that Dyna is a BEAST. Looking forward to seeing the new tractor. I always thought yours was a little larger than what you need or have toom for, but hey - run what ya brung, right??
Thanks, I can’t wait for the new tractor to get in. I’ll miss the huge lift capacity of the big guy but the added maneuverability and trailering of the new one will be nice! Rachel definitely looks good doing whatever she does.
Rachel got some cute fingers nail on the control lever 😊.
Yes she does and she loves when people notice them.
Competitive, Rachel and Heath, no, say it isn't so. Great video both of you.
lol, just a little. Thanks.
It was quite a challenge, guys. Fine job. 42 minutes over a cord, and crooked logs. I'd say staged you guys would do 20 minutes no problem.
Thanks Kenny, we’ll run it again and clean a few things up. I think you’re right. Closer to 20 will be easily attainable.
@@hardworkingmanoutdoors we just finished shooting ours, took us 6 hours, haha, video coming soon.
A couple of months ago I rented a SC16 and did 27 cords in 12 hours. Averaged a cord every 27 minutes. Yes, I had big and ugly logs! Ran 22 inch max diameter logs alot. Nice job guys! It's a learning curve!
That’s impressive. We can definitely go faster! We made quite a bit over a cord too based on a few of the comments.
You a clam to load that log platform.
I usually would but I took the hydraulic lines off the tractor already as I traded it in after this video. Now we’re just waiting on the new tractor!
That was an awesome job guys very proud of you both I think you did very well so don’t be to hard on yourself so take care and god bless ❤❤❤
Thanks David, we’ll run it again and should do better.
That was good timing still for those crooked and twisted logs I think. Awesome job both of you. Cheers.
Thank you! We’ll run it again and should do better.
Good job guys. We all cut and burn ugly wood but it burns good just a pain to deal with
Thanks, and yes it is.
At least you don't have to worry about the pile of logs getting away from you when pulling the pile down. Imagine if were all perfect!!! (Wouldn't that be nice!)
True, I was probably a bit fussy but still think they could have been a little better overall.
Oak smells like money
Yes it does.
🎉
The log father wasn't mowing mowing his lawn at the same time with a four-wheel drive lawn mower.
True!
👍
Thanks Will.
See Rachel wear her American Eagle 🦅 jean short , cute 😊. Remember The logs Father pick out nice 👍 straight firewood 🪵 logs for his homemade processor. 😊Rachel don’t let me down , I got side bet on you 😊.
Don’t worry Leonard, we’ll run it again with a better load of logs and not split so much over a full cord.
Are you going to be at Dyna days both Friday and Saturday? Hope to get down on Friday and my 7 yr old would love a shirt!
We are going to try to be! We. At least one of us will be there Friday for sure unless something comes up! Be sure to find us for a shirt. I’ll set aside one of our smaller ones.
I would still like to have a Dyna processor but only doing a dozen cords instead of sixty as we did before I don't think it's worth it for me, but if I were to get one the change I'd make I would back the elevator almost to the knife and put the grizzly bars on the top end your elevator is too far away it cause bunching up as is. Interesting video thanks for sharing.
That’s one thing I really like about Dyna. The fact that you can rent them all over the Midwest. So you can still get the benefit of running one without all of the cost of owning one.
Will your new lawn mower be as fast as the Log Father splitting a cord of wood?
Faster!
Appreciate you sharing this "best effort" and an honest competition! I really think you should consider "Hard Working Couple" for channel name or at least sub-title ;-)
Thank you, we will do better in another attempt in the near future.
hi there thats 51 min. times 2 that like over 1.5 per man hour . i have run 2 different processors with 3 people one working the machine one loading the machine and one bucking the logs up , the best we got after a week was 1.25 to 1.50 per hour with 3 man hours per hour .. and that was not stacked .witch i agree with a lot that say if your selling wood you don't have time to stack it .
Yeah, we’ll run it again with better wood and will put up a much better time. We just wanted to see how it would go with the wood as it came off the pile.
I love oak! Maybe he has a bad nose???😂
I agree.
I use a garden rake to pull down and level the firewood piles. It would probably work good on those totes. Garden hoe ...no. Old time corn rake... not too bad. - Good, clean logs are worth twice, or more, what firewood is worth. Can't be too hard on the woods crew. Real world firewood, still burns and heats. Just not top prices.
Yeah, I was probably a bit fussy as I usually harvest my own timber. A rake or something would definitely help.
Buckin firewood 🪵 and Oak Farm firewood 🪵 done ✔️ there cord in 12 min . 😮
That’s flying!
What day are you guys gonna be thier
We plan on being there Friday for sure and hopefully will be there part of Saturday as well.
Heath, you got a lot of wood for the money, it's not going to be perfect.
True, I may have expected too much. I usually harvest my own so I’m probably a bit picky.
That's a typical load of logs. If you want nice straight stuff then get a load of bolts n pay way more.
Yeah, I was probably a bit fussy as I usually harvest my own logs.
Some of those are too big.
For sure, that’s part of running a processor. We’ll have to re split a few.
4 totes in that time is very respectable with filming, crooked logs and fighting the loading deck!
I am a little baffled though???
You have Lambeau doors on your tote, but you live in Michigan?🤔
Mmmm,??
Thanks, wrong Lambo lol.
Millington, eh, I know that building well! It's behind a speedway gas station. With any luck, I can get to the event. Inam about 40 minutes from there.
Awesome, we’ll be there when we can! Should be fun.
Bummer about wood that is less than expected in your load of logs.
Yeah, but we’ll make it work.
Heath firewood 🪵 logs are always garbage wood for firewood. Straight logs 🪵 go to hardwood mills buddy . 😮
I agree, I’m probably a bit fussy.
EH, what'd you say Sonny? 🦻lol Big operation.
It was fun but we’ll do better on our next run.
Allen Family firewood 🪵 is faster with a chainsaw and OLD BUSTER . 😢
If so they’ll be a lot more tired by the end of the end.
Good job guys 👏Probably 38 minutes with no problems, 🪵👍🏼
Thanks, it looks like we did quite a bit over a cord too based on some of the comments. We can definitely get our time down.
