      Can't wait for the New 2021 Cruisemobile Crossover to come out and still look the exact same in 2027.
      I'm really going to miss 2/4 door sedans and convertibles.

    1:27 I always thought those pedastile seats were a great idea, freeing up more legroom without having to make the car bigger. The 1983 Renault Alliance also had them. I don't know why they haven't caught on across the industry.

    Every one of the luxury car commercials shows a country club, gold course or a couple arriving/departing a formal dinner. I guess that is what luxury buyers aspired to at the time
    I think it would have been quite a scandal to have put a person of color in one of these commercials at the time

    • @pcno2832
      @pcno2832 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I doubt it would have been a problem if they had the same clothes and mannerisms as the other characters. A mixed couple would have been off limits, though; Chrysler even threatened to pull out from a TV special because Petula Clark and Harry Belefonti were singing a little too close together. They were afraid of boycotts.

    We dont have such features in our '64 Thunderbird

    • @marka1422
      @marka1422 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Much of what you saw highlighted in this video would've been classified as optional equipment. What was considered standard equipment back then was a lot less than what we think of now. Of course, what used to be luxuries at that time have become standards due to popular purchasing by the consumer.

    Nice cars, but I'd much rather have a Studebaker GT Hawk.

    • @dalehall2067
      @dalehall2067 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Never understood why Studebaker then surpass all of the cars. Their styling and engineering was great

    • @JeffDeWitt
      @JeffDeWitt 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@dalehall2067 Bad management, starting when Studebaker's President Albert Erskine made the decision to continue paying dividends when the country was sliding into the Depression. That ate up all of Studebaker's cash reserves and put the company into receivership. If he hadn't done that the company would have come out of the Depression in much better shape and the big three might have been Ford, GM and Studebaker.

      Studebaker did a wonderful job with the Hawk.
      Started out as a Studebaker Starliner in 1953 and ended with the Hawk in 1964 all the while tweaking the same 11 year old design.

      Had to be 5’9” or shorter to comfortably drive a 1955-57 T-bird with the top on.
