    As an “Old Harley guy” I really like this new engine and new Sportster. An EPA compliant, modern engine in a modern bike with updated styling and tech? Oh yeah this is smart. Now I wanna see this engine fully ramped up in a performance bagger with Ohlins suspension, and cutting edge tech! Now that just might make me trade my 2020 Roadglide!

      I'm on the other end of the spectrum as a long time fan of just about any motorcycle as long as it wasn't an H-D. I must admit I LOVE this new Sportster. I'm still not really a cruiser guy but love the direction H-D is heading in. If they bring the cafe racer to production I'll probably buy it. Harley Davidson had to step it up again. I use to ride a 96ci, a 103ci, and now the Milwaukee 8 107ci street glide in 2017. The third year I owned my 107 I knew Harley would upgrade again and they did.
    This new Pan American & Sportster engine was a must and a forward thinking decision that’s gonna have this format phased into all future motorcycles made by Harley Davidson and it’s time. The day is over for hot air-cooled engines that vibrate and have technology still used from the 1950’s/1960’s and the Milwaukee 8 was the 1st step but long term smoother running & smoother shifting, more LED lighting and low maintenance bikes are now what the people wanted to see and not the old school motorcycle clubs and their wants holding things back. Positive change is what everyone demands from Harley Davidson branded bikes and not average and below the luxury standard and affordable. Lastly, I am sure many can concede that going into 2022 there is no reason HD engines should be so labor intensive to repair and service with a huge primary chain in oil, pushrods, rocker arms, lifters, and a hot but engine so now technology and common sense design has prevailed.

    This bike looks great and I'm definitely considering it as my first Harley. I visitited the dealer a few weeks ago but just couldn't get into the laid back ride of the softails; I'm still a few years away from that. The Sportster S looks like a much more spirited riding experience than the cruisers. Great job overall. Hope to see a Supersport version straight from the factory with 150 hp, complemented with further upgrades to the brakes, suspension and exhaust. Something to rival the Diavel and Rocket 3 in the power cruiser segment. I also think it would be great if Harley started building limited edition beastly motorcycles straight from the factory like Triumph does with its TFC line. I know there a dealer installed performance kits available but not sure if I would trust a dealership mechanic to rip apart my brand new bike.

    Have the option of more conventional wheels and riding position and I’ll be thinking seriously! I hope you do well with this bike, finally HD is tackling the Europeans and Japanese head-on. I see the new engine apparently has hydraulic valve lifters like on my ‘91 1200XL I’ve owned since nearly new. Correct me if I’m wrong. One good thing about the older HDs is the low maintenance, setting valve clearances every 25,000 kms like on most modern high performance bikes is a pain.

    Now you have the engine so give me a Sportster with low pipes setup for touring with seating for two, 30 liters in each saddlebags, luggage rack for a roll bag, full windscreen like the 1200T plus decent lean angles.

    Ok ok, I'll ask again. Is the crank pressed........OR.....pressed and welded. ?

    • @gm16v149
      @gm16v149 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m guessing forged like most modern bike engines, could be wrong though. I highly doubt it’s a roller bearing crank like the old ones.

    As consumers, we are looking for quality more than anything. The work you do at the factory will ultimately determine our experience and whether we will continue to ride or purchase another in the future. Take pride in your work, go home at the end of the day knowing you did a good job.

    Looks awesome, but consider this idea: A sportster with a 59 cubic inch engine, rear mono shock Softail Suspension, low slung seat height, and a 5 gallon tank. Good HP and Torque for touring, but affordable enough for beginner riders. I call it: The Sportster Softail JR

    i wish harley well with their new designs.so far so good.only time will tell.they FINALLY woke up & realized their "heritage" crap had actually allowed the rest of the worlds bike manafacturers to get lightyears ahead of them.they have TONS of catching up to do,but i applaud their understanding that heritage does them no good if the heritage is considered crap by younger buyers.

      actually shouldnt have to work on it. Thats whole point of modern stuff. You dont see sport bike riders working on their machines. The only reason I have an 09 Dyna is because I get tired of working on my pans shovels and ironheads. I have a garage and front porch full of those things. The TC motor just fires up and runs.

    The loyal customers who ride Harley Davidson Expect manufacturing to remain in the USA 🇺🇸

    • @cleetusmcdonald6574

      Quit being stupid, the same people that say they want the bikes to be cheaper are the same ones who say that they want their bikes built in the USA and that is imfuckingpossible. It does not matter where Harley Davidson is manufactured, it will forever remain an American icon but it will help it get more customers because if it is built overseas that means that they can drop the price.
