good info i just started hay work this year im 50 never done it before so big learning curve for me but im mechanical minded so not to hard we just welded up the pick up roller and put some new strippers and pick up teeth in our baler it worked great i never would have known about that pick up roller repair with pout watching your video . it made a world of difference in baling and not clogging up the baler . thank you for great videos .. subscribed!!!!
Same here in England now 90% of farms do it the same way now. although as a kid i had to ride the Woodend sled behind the old style bailers and stack 8 high then trip the sled leaver to push the stack off an start all over again. you just had to pray the tractor driver was in a good mood and went normal speed or if he went fast it was crazy job stacking an tripping the sled before the next bale was coming out again lol Good luck in all you do in life. best wish to you both.
Leaking cylinder? Will it cause the gate from closing all the way? There is a "C" clamp, locking mechanism that should lock in place when the cylinder closes the gate. What is the final resting place for the "C" clamp?
Great video mate I was just looking at one of these balers to buy and now have a good understanding of it It's going to be a change from my old b46 but big rounds are less effort
Your right about the pickup roller if you know anything about it you know thats got to be done on purpose .I've seen some bad welds but nothing that bad for any kind or repair hahaha. & that is a good tip on the painting unless your wanting to replace the inside wall soon 😉
I have used a next size bigger... The one near puts the net wrap on... And then you put the plastic wrap on... So the Hay can pickle.. Which takes about 40 days.. If I remember correctly
James I used to do hard surfacing welding on forrestry equipment. The two types were stick welding electrodes with tungston carbide alloy and the more durable way was metal tubes filled with little balls of pure tungston carbide that you melt on with an acetylene torch. Rather than straight line beads I wrote the date on the part with hardfacing, the plant name , my initials, our shop phone number, and work order number if I had it. Years later I would find equipment with my hardfaced labeled parts on equipment in a different state with dates 10 to 15 years old still readable in the hardfacing. By the way, hardsurfacing welds with high tungston carbide have transverse cracking across the beads as they cool which looks terrible on hammer mill hammers which are completely covered with hardsurfacing. george and aurora
I just a old Skewl low tech welder. I do Stick , Mig and Tig - gets me by for what I need. Sounds like ole Elon Musk needs you down there in Boca CHica Texas welding up them stainless steel spaceships he is setup building!!! How life there? Whats been going on?
From northern mn, instead of paint, just get a gallon can of wd40 and soak a rag with it and wipe down the shiny surfaces. 4 henerstins of doing it that way with similar protectant.
since you are a cheap farmer what do you use to hold things together with since you use twin instead of bailing wire ?, also here is tip for the fire extinguishers, take them and turn upside down and tap them few times with a mallet to stir contents up, when the sit upright like that for long time contents gets packed in the bottom and wont work when you need them, I do this once a month with mine that I have in 5th wheel.
That is a excellent tip on those. I will do that tomorrow! Thank you . I keep a couple of rolls of stainless steel wire handy. Don't rust out like baling wire! Pretty strong too. Wire is a farmers best friend!
I know I'm behind, but it's been crazy here. (Looks like 2 more weeks we'll have our grandson.) Not sure what I'm doing wrong, but the last 4 or 5 of your vlogs I've tried to like and it says its added to my liked videos, but the count doesn't increase. Take care.
You can tell by looking at that baler it was taken care of & barn kept .either you stole that equipment at a give away price .or you baled & sold a lot of hay hehehe

Thankyou, I just purchased a 435 jd and going to use it for the first time on my 30 acre alfalfa farm.

Will the 435 kicker stay out to keep a bale from rolling forward while unloading on a downhill slope?

yep - silage- popular these days too
Also pay attention to your belt lasing. For wearing rivets
Change your pins in your belts often 10 dollar pin lot better than a 550 dollar belt

Great tutorial. Thanks!
Hi! The welds on the pickup roller is to fix pressure issues ??
to grab the hay and start the roll core

Hey man I. Was wondering will the bank loan you money on a used Baler?
That would depend on your relationship with your banker. They might have you put up collateral of greater value. I just pay cash.
I am thinkin about buyin a John Deere 550 baler, would you recommend I Do? Thanks.
You definitely have good advice on this Hay baly
I appreciate that
How many hp is the kubota your running that baler with?

Prayers for the young man ,crying shame.
Cool Lets see it work
Oh shoot, an I was just gonna buy one!
Why the background music? Annoying as hell. Other than that whine, a decent video thanks.
