@@skylers9804OMFG I forgot about that, that's right it WAS a thing but not for long and by the time I found out about it and played it once. It was only me servers were beyond dead when I got my hands on it que'd up on a map and that was the last time I ever played that mode again. Then I just got good at the story mode, became a loot goblin and was rewarded that invisibility thing for being a good rat in the first game. Bioshock 2 Minerva's Den was my favorite at the time. I had a very good friend that let me borrow his copy of the games and all the DLC for them. I got to Infinite by 2013 graduation Highschool the same year, what a good summer that shit was. Getting drunk, smoking weed and playing vidja games on the assbox 360. That was when Halo Reach was still relevant and Bungie made their last Halo game, 343 was up and coming with Halo 4. Damn man. I'm turning 30 next month and I was a young teenager when all that went down.

Everytime I watch a Rye 'dead games' video, I feel a certain sense of melancholy for most of these so called 'dead games'. Like you know they had a larger community and fanbase when it was released, but the community just slowly bled off throughout the years and now only a small loyal handful remains. There's something sad about that to me.

@@aeonstar293 Basically me when Tim and Ninja fucking left Fortnite and all the asinine trash I could finally actually play and feel good about it. I got gud and I absorbed the sweaty builder type I'm not a Creative Builder I learned that shit on the fly and then EPIC created No Build and forced everyone to not build for a LONG time just after I started to pick up turtle fighting and edit wars. "Window" shopping with a shotty and snipey. It felt like a weight had been lifted from the game, gatekeepers left so they actual normies can play a video game for once without all the sweaty people with no lives. Yes, there are still "We like Fortnite" kids in it but they tend to sound better when they are getting their in-game ass cheeks clapped than when they start in with that "Based/Cringe" two-word dialogue crap they all have. Better to hear their dying vidja game screams being drowned out by your music you are blaring and having that 6pm beer.

I played America's Army from AA2 to Proving Grounds , in Proving Grounds I was an official Beta Tester and had to sign a US Army Confidentiality Agreement along with an Official Secrets Document . We tested new maps Weapons and features for both the game and the version which was for the Training of US Army Soldiers , I suppose I'm still legally bound by those agreements . When I played I was a member of the [NOLB] Clan ( No One Left Behind ) which was mainly made up of US players and we had our own server in AA2/3 and Proving Grounds .

The biggest issues I constantly ran into back then were bugs that would randomly make you spontaneously die, spawn protection that would make you a piece of tissue paper but would make newly-spawned enemies borderline invincible, horrific weapon balancing, borderline nonexistent matchmaking, and a completely useless anticheat. Honestly, I do not miss that game at all.

Hey rye, i just wanted to comment on the Dirty Bomb portion.
The server with the train (which is a scripted event that occurs after point 2 is taken) continuously barging through, the higher player count than 8v8, and so on has been responsible for driving a lot of the playerbase away, some with bans, exploiting things such as those scripted events, and finally the player numbers on steam. At the time of writing this majority of their servers have been taken offline thanks to your video, after months of the community speaking out against this. I'm sure you saw alot of this in the subreddit. This wasn't the best representation of the game, but i'm glad you covered it and finally helped the communities vitriol fiascos surrounding this game. The game itself means alot to the community, and actual player count has been at a better point than (what im estimating) was the time of recording. PUGs are back up, new players are confused less and less, and many veterans are returning making this an overall enjoyable experience for a lot of us. I knew eventually you'd cover this game, but wasn't sure how soon. Just wanted to say Thanks. Long live Dirty Bomb

Glad to see Dirty Bomb get a mention. As you said, its a childhood game for a lot, it was for me, and roblox. I've clocked in 1300 horus in the game, and for a teenager with very limited screen time and school, that could've been 10,000 hours compared to my world today. Dirty Bomb was an amazing game, with a good community, and developers. The developers were interactive to the community, you could see them playing the game. It still is my favorite game despite, at most 50 players playing the game at a time. But its a game so heartfelt to me, that I think only the game coming to 0 players would stop me from playing it. Aw man I remember Dirty Bomb. I used to be a hardcore Phantom main (invis guy) and always played like an assassin. I played before and during the golden era, but dropped it when it ended.
People left and those that remained were just too good, and the lack of balancing shifted all the games into one sided slaughterfests. I started to resent the game for that and stopped playing completely in 2021

I remember taking the tests inside Americas Army 2. I enjoyed the game because it added realism to what was allot of arcade games at the time. Some of the animations reminded me of Rainbow Six 3. But you accurately checked the breach and forward assist on your rifle when you took it out for the first time. Just a bunch of small details like that.
I don’t even remember if the game had a team death match game mode. I think it was all objective based which helped form actual team play.

Wow, AAPG. Yeah - I’m an ex-competitive AA2/3/AAPG player. I’m on the servers you went on often. The community on console / PC for AAPG was super small- and tight knit. Had a few tourneys with money and a large player driven competitive community. Once someone got “big” they were known, and we all knew each other / clans otherwise. 101st has been around for awhile. I was with teams like Ice Nine Gaming, Greenup, GunR . The community, how serious it got at times, and how often we ended up screwing around (like many other of these games) is why it’s a beloved part of my gaming history.

It's amazingly nice that the developer of Nomad took time to actually cater to small influx of new players. They did what every game creator should set out to do, provide ppl with a fun entertaining experience.

American army proving grounds used to be so fun, once the main community servers stopped a lot of the main players I knew stopped their servers. I was a part of a close community that would join these other bigger ones to play against. Very fun

Infestation was one of the biggest scams. 1 game developed by russian Sergey Titov called WarZ (name changed due to restricted name of WarZ), meanwhile 2 another games were published, both THE SAME survival in desert/wild west style. The same game, different art styles published few times, scam with bugs, money grabber. The only game, where zombie could kill you while you were sitting/driving by your car :D

I'm not really sure these are dead games, I think these games are just rendered down like a soup, At the start the soup was mild and filled with liquid, But after a while it becomes more flavorful but less, I feel like that's how the communities in these games are, The most passionate soup remains

I love America's Army. I put 1200+ hours into it, my friends have put in 14,000+ hours into it (1.5 years i think). Some of my friends have met up and gotten into relationships with each other. I still hop on to this day. There is a tight community of friends that have played forever (on Misfits server) and i still recognize players even from 2015 when i played the most.
Sometimes I dont even play for the gameplay, its just fun to chat with old recognizable player whether your in a match or just spectating.

I played just one game of Cuisine Royale back when it was still called that in early 2020, and then I deleted it and never played it again. Despite all that, four years and one relaunch later I still remember the desert map pretty well. I didn't think it was a bad game, I just didn't enjoy it that much.

Ahh Infestation: Survivor Stories.... I remember when the game was still called War-Z, but was then unavailable due to copyright claims due to the name. Thats the exact moment this game died. Before it was a quite entertaining zombie survival shooter that was especially neat in the cities. We used to play that as a group of 6 people and just stomped through the map. Good old times. That video brought back some of the memories.

I played AA:PG a lot back on the PS4 in like 2017. I remember when they added new guns even. I met so many chill people on it. I ran the sniper or DMR all the time. cuisine royale was also a big game I played, but I stopped playing it. I couldn't find it anymore, but the name change really does explain why. I never played Infestation Survival Stories, but I met 2 of my closest friends on Infestation The New Z and still play it from time to time.

A large part of the reason why Cuisine Royale died off is the fact that it was just a test for Gaijin's bigger game called Enlisted

I’m pretty sure cuisine royale/cursed started out as a ww2 tacticalshooter it did look good at the time might’ve been competition to some others but there was like 6 other ww2 games coming out at the same time then it turned into ww2 royale game before turning into its final form it was such weird 2 years on coverage on it development
