    Omg I came to see if all the positive reviews were gaslighting me because I was seriously doubting its cleaning abilities after using for the last several months. Just did laundry with a pair of white pants and a small already wiped out chocolate stain. Absolutely no change.
    Editing to add that I used their oxygen brightener in the load too.
    Suckered in by their cute tin and marketing! Back to tide (but I’ll use the powder in their tin haha)

      I get very skeptical when almost all the reviews are good. No product is perfect for everyone! My personal favorite laundry detergent may not be yours and vice versa but at the end of the day they have one job, to clean our clothes. If you check the comments you’ll see where the brand representative and myself have a conversation. Overall I just don’t like brands that promise certain natural results while demonizing regular brands of detergent. In this economy, Nellys is too expensive not to work when I can get a laundry detergent that cost $1 from the dollar store & it does a better job. Is it as natural no, but I always advocate for a second rinse cycle to remove all excess detergent & for most people I recommend that too, it does the trick. God bless.

    Not surprised. It's so bad when it comes as a replacement for other powder laundry detergent. If you want cleaner/natural you're better off with whole foods powder detergent.

    I recently picked up a 200 load bucket. Its so much better than Kirkland pods. I wear cologne and it gets on my white tees and not even the pods can eliminate the scent. One tablespoon cleans my entire whites and darks perfectly. My favorite all time detergent was from sears ultra plus concentrate laundry detergent.

    Thanks for your review, very interesting test to compare a laundry soap with just water! We have never claimed that our Laundry Soda alone would remove these kinds of tough stains, we recommend pre-treating with our WOW Stick and/or using our Oxygen Brightener (natural bleach) for stain removal.

    • @thecleanpsycho

      Water serves as the baseline in the majority of these detergent test. Other respected organizations like Consumer Reports and The New York Times have also used water as a control in their detergent evaluations. The rationale behind this is simple: if a detergent cannot outperform water, it fails the basic test of effectiveness and value.
      Upon reviewing your website, I found no specific claims regarding stain removal. However, the issue lies in your "highly concentrated formula," as touted on your site, which performs negligibly better than plain water. Moreover, the telemarketers and influencers you've partnered with have disseminated misleading information, claiming your product is "better than the leading brand." While personal experiences can vary, spreading falsehoods to bolster a brand partnership is disrespectful to consumers. A quick search on TH-cam for "Nellie's Laundry Soda" will reveal several such misleading endorsements.
      I do commend your willingness to accept constructive criticism. Your response to my review speaks volumes. Many of the stains I tested are common and easily removed by other detergents I've reviewed, or at least come close. Some stains are admittedly tough, with no detergent I've tested managing to fully eliminate them. I understand there are specialized products like Biz Stain Eliminator or Oxi-Clean (which can be found for cheaper than your Oxygen Brightener), which utilize enzymes or serve as a chlorine bleach alternative for such tough stains, but the purpose of this test was to see what the detergent could do alone without the aid of other products.
      My primary concern remains the cost-effectiveness of Nellie's product. Given its current performance, I cannot in good faith recommend it, especially for consumers seeking effective cleaning solutions. For those with lightly soiled clothes, I have numerous alternative recommendations. On my channel, I uphold a standard of cleanliness defined by "The 5 Pillars": effective stain and odor removal, compatibility with sensitive skin, removal of pollutants (smoke, smog, bacteria/viruses), and preservation of colors. While Nellie's may excel in skin sensitivity and color retention, I lack confidence in its ability to deliver on the other criteria.
      I offer you the same advice I give to other brands striving to compete in the laundry detergent market: do not compromise on the fundamental purpose of your product - effectively cleaning clothes.
      I will conduct a comparative review with Tide powder detergent, using a similar methodology to further illustrate my points. Additionally, I plan to test Ajax laundry detergent, available at Walmart for $1.78, to gauge how it performs against your product. If Nellie's cannot outperform a detergent priced under $2.00, it indicates a significant issue that your team must address urgently.

      @@thecleanpsycho To each their own, we have been selling our Laundry Soda for almost 20 years and have had to produce a 500 and 1100 load bucket of it as our customers are obsessed and feel it works great for them. There are SO many competitive brands, they certainly don't need to stick with us, The fact is that in our current world, generally we clean "clean" clothes. Although we love the test you performed and always welcome feedback, the test you did, we would never claim the Laundry Soda could remove those stains. And we have not tested against water as we haven't had the need to. We do however have a chemist that tests our products against others (natural and chemical brands) and the results are very clear to us. We are a smaller sized company that has not sold out to P&G and we refuse to add in dangerous chemicals. Our core customers have found that doesn't irritate their skin, give off a major chemical smell and performs great. I would be happy to send you true email testimonials from our customers. In many cases it has changed their wellbeing as all of the other brands they used irritated their skin. And frankly. that's why we are still in business and haven't sold out to the big guys. The cost per load is comparable to most leading brands without adding chemicals. We recommend our products and stand by the ingredients, performance and feedback from our customers. We also have a money back guarantee (not that we ever have to use it with this product). Our customers that want stain fighting power use our multi-purpose WOW Stick and Oxygen Brightener (our other 2 most popular products). As for our claims, what we do in our content contains real life tests against the competitor - and we are trying to show that if someone wants to move away from chemicals and environmentally dangerous brands, we have a solution. Doing a similar test to this with Tide (which is full of chemicals and bleach like ingredients) is not comparable to Nellie's. We love that you are questioning brands. We stand by our product and our claims and the amount of Laundry Soda we sell and re-sell is all we need to keep making it. The great thing is that there are many brands out there, so people have a choice. We are happy that so many people choose to support a small, Canadian business.

    • @nelliesclean
      @nelliesclean 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      @@apAvocado We agree. Just to correct the corporate statement. We are a smaller Canadian company that has one owner (Nellie's son) and has not sold out to P&G or other major companies. While we welcome feedback, make mistakes and constantly make changes to our products, it's always important to clarify this with consumers that review our brand. We stick true to our roots and values and use our customers feedback as the driving force behind what we do. This test shows the Laundry Soda can't remove major stains, and it is a cool test against water, but we have never claimed that our Laundry Soda was a stain remover. Its a hypoallergenic, planet safe and effective every day laundry soap. We have other stain fighting products.

      I whole heartedly agree with you. There are only 2 eco-friendly detergents that I have tried that are decent but one is expensive (Dirty Labs) & the other unfortunately doesn't work for a lot of people that I have read in my comments section (Ecos Detergent). For my everyday laundry needs Ecos actually works well for me but every other one I have tried just is not worth it.

      I really like the scent of ECOS. Similar to the Trader Joe’s Lavender. The issue I had with those is the laundry took on a funky smell when damp. It was when I had a front loading LG washing machine, which I hated.
      I currently have a top loader which is easier to clean so I clean it more often, so occasionally I’ll use natural/ eco friendly laundry detergents for the nice scents, if the clothes aren’t too dirty to begin with. :)

    That Nellie’s stuff is almost identical to Oxi Clean versatile powder. I use Oxi Clean for all my whites with Tide with Oxi powder detergent. If you go to the online reviews for this Nellies washing soda and go to the one star reviews, you’ll see that people are not happy with this so-called natural detergent. I think it’s a scam too. Edit: I want to add that I always wash in warm or hot. Cold water does not dissolve body oils and funk. I think Tide powder detergent is excellent!!

No it’s not green but when you’re on a budget and need something for your family, in this economy, it’ll do the trick. I hope you have better results than I did.

    Wow!!! How is it that water did a better job removing stains? I am surprised.!!! And just blown away!!! Should we just altogether stop using all and any brand of laundry detergent since warm to luke water does a better job removing stains? If warm water or at the temperature that you used to wash your cloth stain samples, did the trick. Again, should we all together stop using all brands of detergents or laundry soap and maybe just wash it with baking soda? For stain removers, I use a diluted solution with clear dish soap. We can all save money by not using laundry detergent. What says you? I will never ever ever ever again use Gain, All, Tide, Persil, and others that I already forgot the names of ever again. Never ever use them agian. I haven't in over 10 years. By any chance have you made videos on Norwex, Molly Sud, Rockin Green, Zum, Branch Basic and Biolkleen?

    • @thecleanpsycho
      @thecleanpsycho  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      No, I haven't test nor tried any of those, but Zum has been sitting in my amazon cart for a while so I might test it out. I wouldn't say personally I am at the point of throwing out all detergents because there are some good ones out there but many of these "natural or eco friendly" detergents just do not do the job. But, I am just one person so If someone finds something that works for them, then that's good for them at the end of the day.

      @@thecleanpsycho I have also heard of another detergent called Blue Land. I have not tried it. But I am interested in their detergent. I have been very health cautious about the products we use here in the United States and the ingredients that some brands put in their products. I feel and believe that some products are not safe for us. I don't think that the FDA and CPSC does a good job projecting us and our health.

    • @thecleanpsycho

      I can understand that. My friend and I were having a similar conversation the other day about ingredients used in our food, cosmetics, and other daily consumable products. We have just come to the conclusion that it is almost impossible to be 100% safe but we can do our part to minimize known hazardous items. It really requires pushback from the consumer for companies to actually abide by a moral companies. Not to get political but these are some of the things your state governor and local representatives need to made aware of on a consistent bases. If we the people don't keep it on the minds of those we elect to represent us, then nothing will ever change. So in the mean time, we can only do what we can to be as safe as we can be.

      @@thecleanpsycho I appreciate your time and response. I, for one, don't want to bring up or mention politics. I mean it would be nice if our elected leaders would want the best for the people, but I think I will take my chances relying on myself, doing my part in reading ingredients and learning about the ingredients. I will also just rely on the man upstairs, which also can't be mentioned, but I will rely on the man upstairs for that extra protection. Thank you again for taking the time to reply. Peace be with you.
