I like Hilary's voice, she always sounds calm, gentle and humble. And I love how Brett is literally glowing in this video! Been looking forward to the release of this video since forever!
i dont blame brett i would be glowing too
Her voice is so sweet and I relate heavily to Brett
5:09 best part of the video: Hilary and Brett singing Ysaye 6 😂❤️
5:09 - 5:39 should be titled "How Musicians Talk to Each Other"
😅😅
At first, they were so nervous around Hilary and now they are goofing off with her. 😂
OMG they are so cute ❤
Who wants a weekly Hahn podcast where we can listen to her talk about violin music?
Brett and Eddy need to complete the story by writing a piece for Hilary, like Ysaÿe did for his sonatas. I love the collabs between TwoSet and Hilary Hahn!
I agree! TwoSet is my inspiration!
@@musicbetweenlinesyess
@@TwoSetViolinEdits Let's go!
@@musicbetweenlines TWOSET IS AMAZING!
Tbh, they were who got me into Hilary Hahn in the first place, lol
great idea!😉
I love this so much
😊
Hillary and Janine my two favorite violists. They are one and two in my mind and I don’t know much about that world. But I listen to them every week whoever I listen to last is number one. Especially with their new stuff. Hillary seems to be more open and free. She is always so perfect but I did think she was a little stiff but not lately. I love Janine so intense yet I always felt she made everyone in the orchestra better. Two wonderful women. I’m 75 and going to see Hillary play Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto this month.
is that dinosaurs on Brett's socks ;)
Lmao
I love how Hilary is so sweet. She rattles off these pieces, and their history, and so much musical knowledge etc, and doesn't sound arrogant or like she's bragging. Very humble ☺️
When a master like Hilary says something like, 'Pay attention to the rests..." you write it in your notes. When such a master returns to the thought so often, and from so many perspectives, with such obvious belief in it; you write that in your soul and live it.
Literally three of my favourite people in the world together in one room #ViolinGang
Oui oui!
Viola gang too!
Hilary at the beginning: we can nerd out about violin and Ysaye
5 minutes later: da da da da duh… da daya dum… da da da da da da be de de de de de dum
Hilary was the nerd in this case. Brett and Eddy were students of her amazing knowledge and insights.
@@nancyjfs haha yeah
I came back to this video just to comment that I love how Brett and Eddy behave for Hilary's video and Hilary fools around for Twoset's video. I love Hilary but why do my chaotic boys behave so well today 😂😂
probably partly because they were tired, just flying to London:-)
Hilary always delivers, both on the violin and in conversation. I hung on every word again.
Eddy has such a soothing voice. Thank you Miss Hahn for sharing your time with Brett and Eddy. Your friendship is endearing❤❤ Once a violinist always a violinist😊
4:50 the one that Eddy is singing is 4th movement of Ysaye sonata no. 2
Hillary is not only one of the greatest violinists but also a wonderful person who wants to share things with others. Great thanks to you, Hillary~♡
Thanks Hilary ! Learnt so much from you and Twoset - planning to attend your next concert
Omg hillary hahn inviting brett and eddie to listen to an album together is so adorable, I love how much she supports those two wonderful goobs and helps them in supporting classical music education
I can appreciate music so much more when I understand it better. Thank you for providing your insights Hillary -- it was really interesting to learn about the origin of these pieces and part of what makes them special.
Perhaps you’d like _Absolutely on Music_ a book where Seiji Ozawa shares his insights with Haruki Murakami
@@astroneural Hey, I know you! :)
That sounds absolutely incredible. I love Murakami and Ozawa, but never even considered that they might have anything to do with one another.
@@InfluxDecline know me from where? I've read Kafka on the Shore and to be honest I did not like it much at all, and of course Ozawa is incredible. I'll give The Unconsoled a try!
@@astroneural I'll let you figure it out, it shouldn't be too hard, I hope.
The Unconsoled is incredible. All of Ishiguro's novels are completely different from one another in some ways but on a certain level they're all related. It's got political commentary, philosophical implications, and circles around a dysfunctional family that we never really get to see.
I haven't read Kafka on the Shore, or Norwegian Wood or 1Q84 or those, but I have Murakami's collection "The Elephant Vanishes" and love it.
Thanks, just picked it up @@astroneural
She is so charming and soooo unassuming!
The boys are adorable!
Nice video!
Thank you
I'm an engineer, mathematician and programmer (that does music on the side (wink wink)); the conversation is similar and congruent to the discussions that I have with language compiler programmers and engineers. We use the same vocabulary and mechanics. Its fun to see other discipline wizards talk shop. It broadens my multi-disciplinary skills. Great vid.
Language compiler programmer? You a crazy one. Respect.
Thank you for sharing this insightful talk! It was a pleasant surprise 😊
Looking forward to the listening party
My three most beloved violinists are truly exceptional in their prowess, yet above all, they possess an unparalleled warmth and affability.
Well said . . .
There’s listening to great music, then there’s listening to great music with some insights from the artists!
I love the three of them together
From 5:01 and continuing for almost a minute, what a priceless moment of them singing/performing air-violin!
Thank you Hilary for sharing so many wonderful thoughts on music~
She has a very smooth and refined speaking style, yet it doesn't come across as studied. It seems like it's just the way she is inside as a person. I don't know if that's the result of the musical disciplines she's learned as a violinist, or her violin style is the outward representation of the inner person which we hear when she's speaking. Maybe it's a bit of both. Her pauses, volume dynamics and inflections when she's speaking is almost musical in and of itself. This was a very enjoyable half hour to watch and listen to!
Hillary is Music
Whenever I see the three of you together I just feel joy. You're all great! Love this kind of content!
I have absolutely no talent for playing any instrument, but I so enjoy listening to Hilary Hahn and contemporaries play. To hear an interview like this, helps me to understand what goes through the thought processes of those who are so God-given talented. Thank you.
Never played the violin in my life but I'm so locked in watching this
Came for Hilary (le GOAT).
Stayed for the dinosaur socks.
this is wonderful - wish it lasted 2 hours! what happens at 5:00 is hilarious!
In the realm where strings and bows entwine,
Hilary, Brett, and Eddy's worlds align,
A conversation rich with insights deep,
About solo violin's secrets they now keep.
Hilary's voice, a maestro's soothing tone,
Recalls the repertoire, the music sown,
From Bach to Paganini, they reminisce,
On stages where their talents did not miss.
They speak of vulnerabilities they've known,
The moments when they felt so all alone,
On stage, where every scratch could make them wince,
Yet, through it all, they've found their own unique sense.
They muse on solo works, the sonatas bold,
Isai's creations, stories to be told,
For different players, each piece designed,
A glimpse into their world, intertwined.
From Sarasate to Goosby, Oistrakh's grace,
To Chrysler's intensity in every case,
They ponder how a composer might ignite,
The essence of these players' heartfelt light.
In this convergence of the violin's art,
They've shared their insights, each playing their part,
As their paths cross in London's grand embrace,
The magic of their music fills the space.
So here's to Hilary, Brett, and Eddy's chat,
A meeting of great minds where music's at,
In harmony, they've shared their wisdom wide,
In this poetic tribute, we take in their stride.
Wonderful! A very enjoyable read!
@@TiqueO6 Thank you very much, Tique!
Ok, Brett and Eddy each write a piece for Hilary, separately. It would not only be interesting to hear a violinist write music for/to her in the way they discussed, but how two different violinists would write for her. And, could Hilary tell who wrote which piece from playing it and knowing the guys?
This is so great! Thank you!
Love to see (and hear) this!
Thank you so much! I loved this conversation! More PLEASE! ❤️❤️❤️
so good to listen to you guys !!
I love you Hilary Hahn and Twoset!❤❤❤ Such a humble violinist.
Thank you so much hilary and twoset for this !!!
5:31 Hilary never misses out her ultrasonic singing❤❤❤...what an insightful conversation...
Brett & Eddy & Hilary!! The two decent great guys that put classical music on trending and a classical prodigy .. they are so humble and she is so nice casually talking with them
Thx for the talk & upload. Love those insights.
We need more of this
Thank you!
I missed this trio❤ always so insightful
OMG! TwoSetViolin and Hilary!!!!!
There comes a time when we All enjoy your playing. Thanks!
I’m _not_ a musician-I can’t play two notes on any instrument-but this conversation might be one of my favorites on TH-cam. Hilary, Brett, and Eddy are fully engaged in what each other have to say and you can just feel the comfortable easiness and affection they all have for one another. (Hilary’s friendship with Brett and Eddy makes me appreciate Twoset Violin, the channel that made it all possible, even more.) And Hilary is, as always, effortlessly charming-Brett and Eddy are, understandably, still a little “starstruck” by her but you cant tell-she’s really an adoring fan of theirs, also.
I am definitely going to have to look this album! ☺
Saw her two times in Brussels. Playing Schoenberg and West side story. It was magnificent. If she comes back I will be there ❤
Fabulous video. Enjoyed every second. It’s always great to have Eddy, Brett & Hilary together & hope it won’t be too long for another performance and/or discussion in Australia. Meeting all three would certainly be on my bucket list !
the listening party was such an amazing experience, it was my first one❤❤❤ stayed up till 2am for it! but so worth it. you gave so many insightful comments😊 talking about how ysaye quotes bach a lot, his markings, the dies irae references, how his music relates to the dedicatees-wonderful! it's obvious how knowledgeable you are with the pieces you play and with how much care you put into them. i found it hard to enjoy ysaye before this (im a baroque to early-romantic type of person) but to hear your words about these pieces gave me a whole other depth of understanding and enjoyment! thank you for everything, hilary hahn!
so much talent nurtured by hard work! perfecting one's technique and communicative ability on ANY instrument is a labor of love, or should be...
Watching this was fun and enjoyable. It was interesting to listen to some thoughtful conversations and insightful stories, along with personal experiences you shared that many musicians can learn from. From my perspective music is an art that musicians utilize as a 'tool' to express their creativity and emotions through their chosen instruments in a way that cannot be done without the influence of music. I believe that music is the most powerful link that keeps us in touch with our true or inner selves, which we don't normally express in our everyday lives. I can't even imagine how empty and boring it would be to live without the influence of music.
This video was really enjoyable it only felt like a few minutes, which reminds me of the saying that goes, "Time flies when you're having fun." Thank you for sharing it! :)
Such an insightful conversation is an unexpected treat for us-I wish you all the best on your respective tours. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us.
love this❤
omg i got the surprise of my life when I saw brett and eddy❤
DEVINE AS HILARY MAKES EVERYTHING!
Thank you, Hilary, for spreading joy to the entire world ❤
this was awesome
Could listen to her voice the whole day
Omg yessss! You can’t go wrong with Hilary Hahn and twoset I love them both so much- probably my favorite violinists no doubt about it. Thank you guys for the insight!🥰
Loved this so much! The difference between Ysaye and Paganinis writing process was very intriguing. I'd never thought of it that way, and I've learned so much. I'd love more, maybe on how you approach concerti or other forms of violin repertoire. Thank you so much for this video, I always love collabs between Twoset and you! ❤
what an honor to hang out with hh, hats off one of maybe 3 best violinists in the modern era, along with kavakos and idk who else, can't think of them at the moment, for my taste
Hilary is always lovely
This video is awesome😭😭😭😭
I enjoy this this music a lot. I don't pretend to understand the more intricate parts of the melodic structure. But I so enjoy listening to it. Watching you and some other musicians talk about the challenges of playing the solo violin pieces is interesting.
I need more Hahn Solo!
I could listen to Hilary, and TwoSet, talk all day
oohh twosetviolin! i love hearing this trio talk about classical music haha.
The first (and so far only) time I've seen you live was in Glasgow with the RSNO playing Beethoven. I think you were about 17. Amazing performance!
i love her so much
great vid Hilary is always a great muscian who explain very complex things in simple language.
Hilary, after seeing and listening to you, i gave up playing fiddle...but i keep it in your honor...you are one of the greats and a great person to boot...:)
Thanks for teaching me the correct way to say the composer's name; I'd been mispronouncing it as "Iss-a-yay" for years! BTW, I've been playing the album frequently since I bought it a few weeks back - it's wonderful.
Brillant, passionnant avec toujours le même naturel et la même simplicité chez Hilary et ses interlocuteurs : de vrais compagnons de jeu s'entretenant avec intelligence et humour.
This is so cool.❤
I love these people🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵
A little different when Hilary now introduces the video haha! I like it!
大好き🎉
Needs to be a piece with plenty of left hand pizz for Brett!
This was so fascinating. I learned so much but had to digress to check out the Ballade only to find I was already familiar with it thanks to my TwoSet education. Love it when you guys collab together. As a result of this vid, Hilary, you have a purchaser. I don't stream though; prefer the hard copy. Shall enjoy listening to these pieces in due...
Edit: Order placed. Apparently it was the last one!!
I could listen to you three talk all day, you always have such good insight and interesting things to say! I loved learning more about Ysaÿe this way, it's definitely making me look at the pieces in a new way. Thank you so much❤
yay, they finally collab together
I enjoy their funny posts, but I also
like them for being so serious and clever.
Three wonderful people talking about solo violin repertoire, what more do we want? Btw. Love the Ysaye album so much, Hilary!!!
Thank you, Hilary. The very best contemporary violinist performing now. THE VERY BEST ....... Love the Bach !! So beautiful and perfect. Again, THANK YOU.
Really wish I could've participated in the listening party. There were technical challenges beyond my control and I've been quite ill 🤒🤧. My sincere apologies for my absence. 😔🙏🏽
The good news is I pre-ordered the entire album when it was first announced. So when it dropped into iTunes recently, I immediately found myself immersed into every note of every piece.
Brilliant! Absolutely magnificent! Left me with my jaw dropped, captivated, and speechless in pure joy & wonderment! Bravo! Well done! 🤩🎉🙌🏽💫🫶🏽🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟😍👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽💐🎊
Queen Hahn, thank you so much for sharing this lovely conversation with Brett & Eddy of TwoSetViolin. Listening to master musicians chat together and share your thoughts, experiences, challenges, and lessons are always a blessing & pure delight. I love and appreciate all three of you. Please take care of yourselves and safe travels during your tours. 🎻🎻🎻🎼🎶🎶🥰🥰🥰
This is gold.
Wow, that's a really nice home!
Missed your collabs
I like the dinosaur socks, but I was expecting them to say "Practice!"
She is just running at 100 miles an hour. And she acts like its normal. She is great and so are twoset. Contrast and compare is always fun. Especially for us listeners who as Corporal Schultz would sort of say.... "I know nothing nothing." It gives it perspective.
Ms Hahn, I think you are the only artist I dream of having perform one of my works. Maybe one day 🙂
I enjoyed listening to you talk about these works, and would love to watch videos of you speaking from your own personal point of view about other works you've performed.
Very cool video. Would be so much fun to do it with other violinists too to have other ideas.
Wow wow wowwww ❤❤❤❤ ❤❤❤ AMAZING
the room is so pretty
My 3 favorite people. ✨
Can’t believe I missed this video !
