I never thought anything else, but what's really fun to think about is, to what level is he aware of what's going on? He never says he's beating himself up, so it's possible that he's imagining his boss kicking his ass and thinks it's real. We're seeing him manifesting his delusion... maybe. I've never been totally sure.

This is the view from the inside of at least one kind of mental illness. Then again, I think Tyler had more than a little truth to go with the insanity. Where are you getting your information? While yes, dc voltage is more dangerous AC currents of below 3amps are more than enough to kill if the current goes through your heart. Electricity does everything it can to go to ground so step number 1 is to have an insulator on your feet.
Standing in ankle deep water destroys any insulation you have, allowing the current to go into your hand, through your body including lungs and heart, down your legs into the water to the ground. This will kill you damn near instantly not in minutes like you were saying. To anyone who does not know, the standard current of a house circuit is 15a and has 5-1000x what’s needed to kill you (the number varies depending on who you ask and what it hits)

It was a popular movie rental store before the Internet became fast and easy enough for everyone to have it. You went in, grabbed a physical movie storage medium off the shelf, borrowed it for the weekend and then returned it within a few days. This was also pre-DVD ascension, so all of those movies are VHS tapes. VHS used a reel of a sort of magnetic tape to store the movie data, and they could be overwritten and reused. The devices those guys are using are strong electro-magnets, which essentially re-writes all the nearby magnetic tape, essentially wiping out the movie data. The worst part is that no one will know until a customer rents the video and puts them in a home VCR to play...Nothing.

the whole ear punch scene Ed did actually 'Fuck it all up' and actually punched Brad Pitt in the ear. and weirdly Ed breaking character makes that scene so much better on a second watch.

I'm always amazed that people catch the subliminal flashes of Tyler in the beginning scenes before we meet him. I somehow didn't see them, and even with the reference that Tyler likes "splicing porn into Disney films", I only realized the subliminal images after it was mentioned in the behind-the-scenes/commentary part.

  • @gabe6550

Great reaction, Maple, and yes, I fully agree with you that this is one of the best movies ever made! I totally fell in love with it when I watched it first and it got to me even better after every rewatch.
Though it's a little bit sad that I had read about the ending before I first watched it, so the twist-revelation wasn't a surprise for me. But I also have to say, that the twist actually doesn't come that surprising even to an uninformed watcher, because there are many hints throughout the whole movie. A friend of mine for example suspected the split-personality after the scene, in which Tyler is in the basement and tells the protagonist to end his conversation with Marla (because Marla normally should have noticed Tyler's presence). And a girl that I knew immediately came to that conclusion when she watched the scene where the main character beats himself up in front of his boss. So I have to say that though it is awesome how the twist happens, I think that this movie would also work if the split-personality would have been right at the beginning of the movie revealed to the audience. "Fight Club" doesn't need its twist, but of course it is great with it.

@@Diegesis Oh no really! That is so lame considering it's mature/adult content. It's so weird how some reactors swear like sailors like I do & some get demonetized yet other channels seem almost targeted despite of the sub size. In response I shall extent a swollen middle finger to the bots or who or what ever is responsible at youtube, either way I appreciate your channel & the free awesome content you 3 provide for us. Huh. You know...many years ago, I remember a segment on...what was it...The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, Saturday Night Live, I dunno, one of them shows. They ran a segment that was making fun of Sarah Palin, and the cartoony sounding music clip from it got stuck in my head. I didn't know where it was from even though I've seen this movie a ton of times. Then just now, boom, it hit me. It was from the scene where the Fight Club members go out and try to start fights with strangers. I'm so glad I can go to my grave having figured THAT damn thing out, because it would hound me one to three times in a year where I'd get it stuck in my head.
