I can't imagine being jealous of a child. Children are human beings. They are not playthings or objects through which adults can live out their failed dreams. Parents, please understand this and do right by your children by unconditionally fostering and celebrating their development.
An honorable mention is Mariah Carey. She's spoken extensively about her fraught relationship with her mother and her awful siblings. Olivia da Havilland and Joan Fontaine called each other out, with Olivia blaming their mother for causing the rift due to favoritism. Lindsay Lohan has called out both her father and mother. Jessica Simpson called out her father.
This is why we need to find new ways and laws to protect child stars.
Also, these parents needed serious therapy if they are living through their kids bc of their own shortcomings.

These poor babies. Every single one. Michael in specific . . . "And I was so fast, you know, he couldn't catch me half the time, but . . . When he would catch me, oh my goood, it was bad." That statement BROKE my heart. Shattered it.

Britney Spears didn't deserve to be abused and used in her conservativeship. Her marriage to Kevin Federline along with that conservativeship had messed her up. It's sad.
Being knocked up twice by Kevin Federline and marrying him was a huge mistake in the long run
After learning what was happening to Britney during her conservativeship, I feel bad for her because what kind of father forces his adult daughter to use birth control that ends up harming her body? Jamie Lynn got a bit luckier but you’d think their dad would tighten his grip on her as well for becoming pregnant at 16

I’m not famous but my mom is like these parents. She tried to make me model as a kid. She was super emotionally, verbally and mentally abusive lay gram and dad kept her from being physically abusive. We don’t speak anymore and people don’t get it because she can be so nice to others.

Parents that subject their kids into this world willingly are scary af to me. Not just the abuse done by them or others. But it’s just the fact that YOU KNOW EVERYTHING that is happening (you’re lying if you say you don’t), and you’re turning a blind eye to it. Over money.

I have a theory about Rock-A-Doodle and Peepers that Don Bluth was originally planning on having Judi voice the character in a similar fashion to Ducky but then her father killed her and Don couldn’t just remove Peepers because the animation process was too far into production and there was no time to change the work that had been completed and changing the script so late wouldn’t have been viable either. I feel like Don had several more roles in his movies planned specifically for Judi.

I'm proud of Judy Garland for breaking the cycle of abuse. Liza Minnelli only has positive things to say about her mother and claims she had a very happy childhood.
Judy always did seem like she was a sweet woman that had her own demons because of her mother and the studio forcing pills down her throat. It’s really sad that she was in so deep that there was no way of saving her by the time she died.

Its very heartbreaking how many parents use their kids for their own fame in hollywood. They do this by emotionally minpulating them.
As controversial as Michael Jackson was, you can’t deny Joe didn’t get the consequential wrath from the public that he deserved for mistreating his children.

Michael Jackson won his civil case and the kids said their parents forced them to lie! That part never caught fire like the horrific things people claimed about him!

There's actually more additional info about Brittany Spear's father and Jamie Lynn. Her father was actually misusing Brittany's money while she was under the conservativeship. Then when Jamie was playing the main character in Zoey 101 she was a massive spoiled bitch on set and it was Brittany who apologizing to the rest of the cast of Zoey 101 on her sister's behalf.

Hearing about what happened in the trailer on the set of Zoey 101 made me hate Jamie Lynn Spears. She lied to her sister about Alexa and Britney yelled at her based on complete misinformation while trying to simply believe and defend her little sister. I’m glad Alexa has forgiven Britney for that, but Jamie is beyond redemption at this point.

Some of family members are toxic
I got my hardcover copy of Jennette McCurdy’s book I’m Glad My Mom Died in 2022 just as it was released and reading it was not only an emotional rollercoaster, but also made me unwilling to watch iCarly, Sam and Cat or any Nickelodeon show starring traumatized former stars. The same can be said of Zoey 101 which the sly Jamie Lynn Spears starred in. This proves that not all family members are understanding but can also be horrible warnings with no escape
I remember when Winter got emancipated, online comments were awful. She was called ungrateful. People are so awful. I'm glad she got away.

It's hard when parents cannot fully be there for their children.

If the victim of abuse wants to maintain their privacy, that is THEIR choice, of course.
But if they want to pull their abusive family members into the light, good on them, and probably good FOR them.
All of these people, opening up about their abuse, are also inspiring/helping their fans and audience to normalize standing up to abuse. Look at the whole #MeToo movement. Years of systemic abuse towards children, women and men by people in positions of power is being dragged into the light.
