- How to Close your Mouth or Lips in Photoshop
In this AWESOME episode, we’ll learn how to close your lips or your mouth using an amazing technique in Photoshop CC or CS6. Sometimes, during portrait or beauty shots, or maybe, in your own photos of yourself, the mouth stays open for no apparent reason which can at times be unfavorable for the particular kind of shot. In this video, we will use to simple tools to solve that problem.

It is essential to make sure that the shape of lips is perfect before you retouch lips, as much of the emotions and expressions are dependent on the lip structure. Retouching lips in photoshop has mostly been overshadowed by the amount of time we spend on the eyes. It is important to understand that along with eyes, lips also pull the attention of the viewer.
To change or enhance facial expression in photoshop, retouching and editing the structure of lips is very essential especially in portrait images. Also, to intensify the beauty and emotion, the lips need to be really appealing in order to convey the message. The tools that we are going to use are liquify and puppet warp but with one simple trick that will not allow the teeth to hamper the edit.

Thank you so much for this! I had a picture of me where I was smiling very aggressively and this helped me close my bottom lip so my lower teeth weren't showing! It looks perfect!!

Photoshop is an app with many options and selections, checks, etc. It is not a simple click this and that.
So illustration with mentioning all the options to be clicked, how its being clicked is very important.
You did well to mentioned things like press CTRL-J, etc. Best Photoshop on TH-cam so far!

Thanks for explaining the technique. I think you should mention that first thing to consider if the lips are parted due to a smile or due to the mouth being held slightly open. The latter will involve changes in jaw-line, the former would mean a lot more changes than you show here.
When you smile the corners of the mouth do go out so when you close you lips the corners come closer. At the same time when you smile your lips will either thin or roll outwards and flatten a little (think of Priyanka Chopra's upper lip). This model's upper lip looks taught so possibly thinned by the action of smiling and her lower lip is obviously rolled out as you can see by colour. In sum you need to plump the upper lip and thin the lower, darken the lipstick at the top of the lower lip and bring the two corner of the mouth a little closer. Its all very subtle of course but the result will be more believable.
But as I said, great teaching video as far as technique!

Thank you for sharing your knowledge.sir after editing lips the centre of upper lip is not at right position ,the angle of the portrait is left to right ,so the left side of the upper lip should be thicker than right side.centre of both lips should be equal.sorry if I am wrong.

I think that's the toturial for CLOSING lips, not for all retouching, so there aren't too much more than this. But grats, you are perceptive :)
