While some luck is involved, it’s also about how an organization infrastructure is built from the depth of developmental team to how badly the organization as a whole will go to any length to make certain it happens The problem is the Nets are not willing to sell their kidney to do what it takes to be a 50+ win team. That’s why the Nets don’t have the capability to develop guys to develop into elite status that can simply take over a game completely. They have to buy their players and rely exclusively on talent to win over 50 games. Now you will say “most teams are like that” which to me is a very weak argument because almost every team in the league has won over 50 games more than the Nets. That’s a reflection of much more than simply just a bad gm or owner. When it comes to player development, the organization is never going to do whatever it takes to be better than a 45-49 win team and history mostly proves it outside of 1 season.
