Hated this gun before and this hasn't changed
You know, I have stopped playing this game quite a while ago.
But I'm still interested in rebalancing issues because they make you do extra content.
I actually have been trying it, head clicking is so easy
The Bornheim has always been my needy girlfriend; she's just easier on my wallet these days. I'm also a Winnie fan, so that helps no matter which ammo type I'm using

@@gallyxinioch2102 best thing I’d say is to take the bornheim match as a close to medium carbine and then use the Winfield deadeye as a longer range option so you get more ammo and viability at all ranges.

The Bornheim numbers correlate to the Bergmann 1896 numbers the Bornheim is modeled after which are associated with the caliber cartridges they use. The No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 used 5mm, 6.5mm, and 8mm ammunition, respectively.
You are correct the Bergman had two models before this but that was the Bergmann 1893 and 1894. Fun Fact: The mandalorian gun is modeled after the 1894 version. Hunt and the Mandalorian do not share the same weapon, but are different models.
I really want to like the bornheim, but the lack of ammo is a serious drawback, like it's the fastest firing sidearm, but it has the least reserve ammo, it doesn't make any sense.

Fun Bornheim fact!: The numbers you see stamped on the gun are based on the numbers you would see stamped on the Bergman and the numbers denote the order in which you remove the parts to service the weapon!

One of my favorite loadouts is the bornheim match as a primary and a winfield vandal as a secondary. The birnheim match ironsights are imo much better than the ones on the base gun. Really helping with the headshots. And the bornheim match can 2 shot people at close range. Combined with the fire rate often dont even have time to react
There is a loadout with Match and Deadeye Nagant/Winfield, that I want desperately to work, but my skill is lacking.
So I have success with "Breacher loadout" - double frag bow + match with necessary ammo box. Bleed and push, count your shots, count dead bodies (and pray they play HV compact too).
My favorite loadout for the Bornheim is the arson build. Bornheim match with incendiary, dual Lemats with incendiary for ammo, and dragon's breath for more fire. And kitted out with firebombs and flares. Best when played on a night map where you can just light up the darkness.

As a Sparks Poison Sniper Main in high 4* - low 5* MMR , i think the Bornheim + a Derringer pairs very well with it...if you hit your sparks poison shot and the enemy makes a run for cover to wait for healing, ran after them and spam them down with the Bornheim ^^ and if you still miss the whole magazine, you still have 4 more chances to down him with the Derringer, i mean all you need after a sparks hit is to cough at them and they die ^^
But what I do if i miss the Spark shot?

Always happy to see your videos show up in my feed. I'd love to see you rate play styles of different hunters, as the event comes to an end I notice the return of the bush Wookie and the exfil campers, maybe give some fresh nicknames to these fellows?
I like the bornheim to pair with lecarbine gives an option for when the shotgun fails and covers the slow fire rate/reload weeknesses as well
@Romis because when it comes to shotgun range spraying ill take reload speed and firerate that the bornheim brings while still being able to point blank 2 tap
If im at enough of a range to be ADS then im using lecarbine anyway
Bornheim is simply lacking. There is really no reason to take it over double actions or spitfire. It has pitiful ammo economy, same effective accurate rate of fire, poor damage and relatively high cost. Good thing is, buff it in any one of those categories and it has a niche. Pretty simple. Now you just need to get Crytek to listen.

I've been an avid Bornheim user since i first unlocked it, and I have to say. The best part about it is how no one ever seems to really expect you to keep firing. They'll hear your first shot, move around to take advantage of your between shot delay, and you've already "started blastin' "

The Winfield Swift and Bornhiem have been my most consistent and comfortable combo this past couple months, it’s been nice!
I always take bullet grubber when I can, the animations are so cool.
Dual Bornheims and a marksman Winfield all with incendiary ammo has recently become one of my favorite loadouts of all time, absolutely stupid but just effective enough to be fun
Bornhein match, dual lemats, incendiary ammo. Have all the ammo you need and a way to penetrate walls as well.
But again it never hurts to drop the lemats for silent negant and just spam fire. One ammo big gives you like 20 rounds

Take Bronheim match pair with duo nagant for normal or velocity ammo or dual lemat for fire ammo, and you got the fastest uzi on this side of Bayou
I used to hate the Bornheim, but then I learned to love the follow up shots, only started using after the price drop
I always used to play Lebel Aperture and Bornheim extended fire ammo since they buffed my poison ammo, and it's great an funny to use. Even got reported for exploiting the Bornheim last week 😅.
I kinda like the bornheim but what kill it a bit for me is the lack of spare ammo... Sure, you can pair it with another weapon that share the same bullets, but imo the best use for a bornheim is to pair it with a powerful long ammo rifle (sparks, mosin ecc) to finish the opponent or for close encounters. And that's can be a problem with that amount of ammo, especially if we choose to carry a special type.

Bornheim FMJ when Crytek?! But seriously, fmj on The Match would make it such an interesting weapon for out-playing shotgun campers and pursuing players through dence cover and concealment compounds. I'm genuinely surprised that they didn't add the ammo yet.

Man I tried so hard to like the bornheim, but trying to make it work while I was doing the billy story quest made me shelf it for good. I’m not saying it’s a bad gun but it’s just very polarizing gun. I personally don’t think the price is worth it still, maybe if they make a suppressed version or give them more reserve ammo. I would be more likely to pick it up again.

The match with high velocity is actually disgustingly strong IMO. The recoil is basically nothing and it is incredibly good for paced headshots or a quick spam with the insanely good hipfire cone its got.
I sometimes buy the Bornheim now, but I still don't like the fact, that I still need 3 or sometimes even 4 shots so I mostly only bring it when I use a Martini oder a Sparks.

I just dislike the crappy ammo reserve, with how little damage it does it shouldn't have less ammo than the dolch.

Bornheim match + dual le matte with fire ammo is my fav meme loadout hands down. Land 2 shots, push with the "blunderbus," receive luls.
Edit: Also the iron sights on the match are so nice! They barely obstruct your view, almost an old timey holo sight lol
I was very negative toward Bornheim before, most likely due to my own experience and overall community opinion about the gun.
But i was doing Billy Story questline week ago and that required me to damage people with Solzers Silver, which i hadnt unlocked. Bornheim spree incoming.
And let me fucking tell you, dual Bornheim along with long Bornheim were THE SHIT. Was it expensive? Yeah. Was i having fun? Fuck yeah. And was i winning? Mostly.
The amount of firepower you have is beyond crazy. Hunt doesnt have supression mechanic... unless you have dual Bornheim in your hands, then it does. Dakka dakka, anyone?
People in Hunt Discord were looking at me strange when i was carrying essentially three Bornheims while they had long ammo but guess who was wiping the compounds? And i didnt even need HV ammo, honestly its even detriment at that point because with HV you have to actually care about how you spend your ammo. With normal? Not at all lmao, just spray away.
It's the perfect spam follow up to any long ammo gun that almost kills. Like sparks or martini. That being said, I still run an officer brawler as it serves the same purpose AND has a blunt weapon attached.
The Bornheim is an aesthetically pleasing gun ngl it has some of the best skins in my opinion and I’ve tried to get myself into using it but unfortunately, i prefer the nagant officer instead. I don’t really mind the lost bullet or ammo pool but the only viable version would be the stock variant. Regular version has a lot of recoil and the sight on the stock variant is way better

I think a lot of us can unanimously agree that the only thing the bornheim really needs at this point is at least one full extra clip of ammo for its reserves. I mean sure this gun can fire fast but at what cost? The single slot variants make it an absolute pain for me to reliably get kills because of its abysmal damage on body shots and strange recoil during rapid fire mag dumps (which imo is the most reliable way to down an enemy hunter when faced with a "panic mode" situation). Sometimes there's just no time to focus on trying to land headshots, but even then you have cheaper options for achieving that and are far more forgiving with their higher damage values. If this gun is meant to have the highest fire rate paired with damage on par with the derringer, it only makes sense that people will instinctively want to use that rof to their advantage, but that in turn yields to rapid ammo loss. Give it more reserve ammo and maybe then I'd be more willing to run with it as a secondary.

I feel kinda mixed on it.
On one hand, I hate the bornheim and will take pretty much ANY one slot over it.
On the other, I actually like the match-the sights work for me and it's a shockingly good in-compound gun. That said it feels like it needs more ammo.
I don't know if it *actually* needs more ammo because it's probably balanced, but I'm always sad getting like 5 bullets outside of the gun
Bornheim Match is fun gun to play, this is my favorite SMG in Hunt, it definitely definitely lacking some bullets, but it's precise and fun:)
The Match & Extended have their niche and are competitive picks, but the base version of the Bornheim I find terrible as It has a bad combination of being too weak & having too small a magazine. The high RoF is mitigated by its small mag which necessitates you having to carefully aim since you can't afford to miss any shots. It's usually counter-intuitive to spam which is its entire niche. You would be better off using an Officer or New Army as they pack a harder punch and shoot relatively fast anyways, missing shots hurts less and scoring hits are more decisive with either two.

I’ve loathed the bornheim pistol variants ever since being forced to use them for Billy’s story quest, but the match is probably my favorite medium slot gun. Weird how that happens.
For the match I like to pair it with dual lematts, the shotgun shots are nice in a pinch.
I take it to unlock the Match and then don't mess with it. The Match is one of my faves. quick spam for double tapping. And you put on 2 Conversions, and you got all the ammo you need, who cares about bulletgrubber. I use Conversions over nagants, because I can switch to them and rip through a team, instead of reloading my match. Sometimes that makes the difference between running the gauntlet, and making new hunters.
caldwell rival and bornheim might be my favorite combo. on prestiges i use it.. if i roll bulletgrubber ill probably do spectre and bornheim match
I don't get why you can't fully reload the bornheim without wasting ammo, technically you should be able to put a clip in when there is one round left in the gun, topping it off that way
If I remember correctly there also a bug if you reload from (0+1) with bulletgrubber you'll get 5/6 bullets loaded despite the animation shows how you catch the first bullet.
Opening the slide ejects the bullet. You can't put in a clip if the slide is closed.

edit: in the reload animation for the empty gun, the slide doesn't need to be opened before the clip is inserted. And the old clip falls out the bottom when the last round is chambered, so no need to extract it either.
@@tibs1042 did you mean the extended version with the magazine? A clip is used by the regular bornheim, dolch, and mosin. The bornheim extended uses a magazine. If you meant the extended then I guess that makes sense. Unless there's some internal mechanism that doesn't let the magazine drop until it's empty. It is an old timey gun after all. Hope Jonathan Ferguson gets to look at it.

Mosin and Dolch use stripper clips specifically, so the Clip there is only used to insert bullets and taken out before closing the Boltaction/slide.
The clips used by the standard Bornheim are closer to those of the Berthier, the clip remains in the gun and is either ejected or, in case of the bornheim, falls out the bottom when the last round is chambered.
The big difference with the bornheim is, that the clip is inserted through a latch at the bottom, which is the reason why you don't have to open the slide to insert the clip afaik.

Sparks Bornheim is one of my favorite combos
I like to pair it with another bulletgrubber weapon so that I don't feel like I'm just wasting 4 trait points on one bullet per reload
The best part about the media zeitgeist created by John Wick is that Bornheim Extended users realized the untapped potential of trigger mashing in close quarters.
I've been running the bornheim match normal ammo with dual wield LeMat's. It gives more ammo than a winfield (although no special ammo, since lemat and born don't share HV or AP) and the close-quarters dual-shotgun/high capacity revolver option from lemat feels better than a winfield - Where I'd rather use the bornheim at range anyway.

As you get better with head shots, this is the superior 6 star MMR option. Once you reach the point where your only going for head shots, this low recoil, high fps, high rate of fire pistol will one tap a rushing trio with subsequent head shots. Once it dropped in price it became a no brainer.
The regular bornheim and the extended bornheim are the patrician's sidearms, but I don't like them due to the low ammo count and inferior damage and stability. The bornheim match defeats every other gun that is not avto or shotgun at close to medium range, due to its oppressive bullet spam. Pairing the match with a dual wield nagant silencer can allow you to have extra high velocity ammo, and you can silently empty them to have as much extra ammo for your match, if you'd like. They can also provide more utility for silently defeating the ai's, but the dual wield lemat allows you to run the superior pvp ammo, incendiary. Incendiary ammo applies insane pressure, and allows you to blow up barrels, which have gotten me a lot of very satisfying kills. Also, lemat double shotgun mode goes hard, and should not be underestimated. Take decoy fuses to fake out enemies and allow yourself to hard push anyone within compounds. Only downside with this loadout is that you lose long range capability, but if you just learn to shift+w, that flaw can be mitigated. Very aggressive loadout, 10/10

FMJ and 15 ammo reserve pool would be a good fix probably. Maybe 1 damage more, it would not be too lethal even then since you'd need accurate two shots. Other semiauto/double action pistols are more forgiving anyway, even though with a bit less fast fire rate. Bornheim is pretty expensive compact ammo gun and needs bullet grubber anyway
Hard disagree on increasing the damage. That's a 33% increase in effectiveness in the range it's supposed to function in. It would take over the meta in 5-6 star lobbies. Having a few extra rounds would probably be enough of a buff since each additional round gives you an extra partial reload.
With its almost nonexistent recoil and fast firerate it will be a very unfun weapon to play against, when you will be two-tapped before you can react. They nerfed officer nagant carbine with unstable recoil exactly because of this reason.
Yeah, I don't actually want to increase the damage either, since it would be way deadlier than officer or new army due to RoF. You'd still have to be inside 20m and be accurate to get two-tap on upper chest though.
15 spare ammo and possibly FMJ would also be enough, these have been my initial thoughts
my favorite pairing is Match with either a Winnie Vandal or LeMats, all incendiary. It's basically a fire SMG and you WILL be burning people's health down. Get a long ammo buddy for maximum nasty

I like to use ist with the martini, the martini is my favourite weapon in the game and if i hit someone with it and he does not die, with the bornheim i can chase and just need to hit one bullet, with many tries and good RPM. That works pretty well for me
I wouldn't mind a spare ammo increase for all the Bornheim variants, but especially for the Match. They're all just so miserable to resupply!

The bornheim is alright in some situations, but the ammo is downright unforgiving. I’m more of a Caldewell Conversion kinda guy.
I love the match but understand it is not positioned super favorably. I also love the match sights and feel like I get more headshots with it than the normal bornheim. The ammo is a permanent problem and pushes you into non-ideal loadout combinations to compensate. Nagant nagant match is kind of doing all the same things and I value disparity between what my different guns do. Currently for medium/medium slots my go to is Romero hatchet (or Rival flechettes if I'm feeling spicy)/Scofield precision.
I dual wield them with incendiary ammo and lay down a wall of fire wasp and have straight up.murdered close standing duos and trios like that in an instant.

The New Army section is wrong, the gun actually fires blanks, if my experience in getting hitmarkers with it is anything to go by.
I like fire ammo with it, can't get third hit on them least they are On fire and vulnerable for bomb or team mate to finish off!

I love using bornheim but ONLY when i play with sparks. Then his low dmg is not a problem bc i use it to end hunters that survive hit from sparks.

The literal only reason I don't like the bornheim is because of the sights. It's very top-heavy. For me- most guns I like have a type of aesthetic that is a slim top and heavier bottom.
I'm a winny guy. and I've been rocking the Born on new Hunters with my Winny for those up close fights until it gets replaced with silenced nagant with fanning or levering with my winny and grab a hand crossbow or quartermaster Terminus shorty with that levering....
I know I'm disgusting.... I don't mean my weapon choices, their good for anyone with bad aim like me.
Love the bornheim because I can be an idiot with two of them. But the ammo wants to make me cry.
