Hello, thank you for a well detailed video I would love to make a request.. You are simulating a 2d structure, why is the PBC of ewfd2 for ky and the polarization for px, and if I want to simulate a 3d structure with the light source coming from the z direction, how do I set these two items?
Thanks for your comment. for "kF" parameter, only "ky" has a nonzero value because the incident wave is in y-direction, and also only x-component of polarization has a nonzero value based on the components of surface current density parameter (Physics 1 Module-ewfd1).
Very good demonstration. Did you try to make the simulation in this paper Predicting nonlinear properties of metamaterials from the linear response? If you can it would be super great! Thanks
Thank you so much for this beautiful demo! I have a question about the power of the TH: if there are diffraction orders, can the integral of the ewfd2.nPoav includes all the TH power of the structure? Thanks!
Hi, thank you for your tutorials, they are very helpful. I have a question: many times in the field of metasurfaces you study the phase of the non linear wave as a function of the rotation of the single nano structure. How you would simulate it? Because normally, in order to measure the phase, I use different ports, but here you are trying to measure the phase of the non linear wave. Thank you
Thanks for your kind comment. I do not understand your matter, completely. Can you explain it more with an example (a research paper)? You can email me about this topic. emwaves.eng@gmail.com
Due to there is no excitation port for second physics (nonlinear) you should enter this value manually for wavevector of Floquet PC. It is equal to wavevector of free space for second-harmonic frequency.
hey, can you make one video for the second harmonic generation? or can you at least give me some insights on that? I trying to figure out the second harmonic responses of my metasurface structure.
It is similar to THG process. For SHG you should add one more physics for second harmonic (in addition to the physics of fundamental frequency) with the polarization which produces second harmonic. If you have one research paper with clear data you can send it to me, I'll record its video. emwaves.eng@gmail.com.
Hello, thank you for a well detailed video I would love to make a request.. Could you please do a simulation on third harmonic generation from a L-shaped AlGaAs nanoantenna
Thanks for your comment. THG simulation method in COMSOL for each structure is the same as the tutorial which I explained in this video. You should add one more physics and polarization option to define nonlinear polarization in your structure. If you have any problem you can email me and send your file (emwaves.eng@gmail.com).
@@EMSpectrumLab Thanks for your speedy reply, I sent you a copy of a trial file. I would appreciate it if you could kindly help me review it in your spare time. Cheers
It's such a helpful video, but there is a problem that has occupied my mind: why did you only add the wave equation to the gold layer and not to the graphene and dielectric layers as well?
Thank you for your comment. The "Wave Equation 1" solves the wave equation in the air & dielectric areas of structure by using material data in material section. Also, "Wave Equation 2" accounts the gold layer separately because of gold permittivity modeling by Drude model. But graphene is modeled by "Surface Current Density" different from other layers because it is assumed as 2D material.

Thanks for your comment. I did not try it before for nonlinear optics, but I think it should be worked.

Hii, in parameters, you have taken area A=a; it is just because of 2D simulation or some other reason.
It is related to 2D simulation.
Why do you use in THG (periodic boundary conditions) : ky is equal ewfd2.k0?
Due to there is no excitation port for second physics (nonlinear) you should enter this value manually for wavevector of Floquet PC. It is equal to wavevector of free space for second-harmonic frequency.

Hello, may you make the video about the surface plasmon resonance of grating structures in 3D models. Thank you a lots.
Yes, sure. I will make a video for it.
@@EMSpectrumLab Thank you
i have a question about paper relaxation time is it with comsol too?
No, the graphene relaxation time is not calculated by COMSOL. It is assumed a typical value for it.
