Thanks so much for these videos. For anyone wondering, I replaced the thermostat, hi limit thermostat, and thermistor because my LG DLE5977W stopped working. I don't know which was the true culprit, but it isn't a bad idea to just go ahead and replace them all, since I got all 3 parts for $30 including shipping from Amazon. I don't know WHY they couldn't just put everything on the TOP or at least make a side door so you don't have to disassemble the ENTIRE F*ING THING.... They made it a real pain in the ass to do, but if you're mildly handy with tools then 2 people can do it without too much trouble. The biggest challenge was getting some of the screws out, some of them were tightened to the point where I almost stripped them out from trying so hard to unscrew them. Just be careful, use a screwdriver with a big handle for extra torque and use the rubber band trick if you have to (we had to). Good luck!
Agreed change all three if your in there deep. Change all three to do the job right the first time. The manufacturers must of had a scenario where they needed solve a case for when a technician is doing this job rather than us regular users. Maybe these are located at the bottom because the hot air needs to rise up to the barrel. The temperature reading must have to come from the source, aka heating element.
@@bassguitar1241 My experience ended up being that after the tear down to reach the thermistor, replacing it didn’t fix the issue and had to have a technician come in and trace the error to the control board so I ended up having to replace that too. Thankfully, it’s right there under the lid so a much quicker job.
Great video... extremely helpful. My problem with the te1 Code after replacing hi-limit thermostat and thermistor (I think those were my initial problem) was a loose connection with the 6-pin plug nearest the dial on the reconnect. Pushed that in better... worked great!
Wonderful, easy to understand video saved me plenty of cash by doing it myself. The thermistor is cheap and costs around $12, so pick one up when your dryer's error code stops you from drying normally and save paying over $100 for a service charge. Doing it myself also afforded me the chance to vaccuum and clean it while it was apart. Thanks so much for posting it and please keep up the great work!
Try to access the thermister from the side and back venting holes where the air exits. One hole for each arm. Only take apart machine if this doesnt work
I watched several videos including this one and my machine was nothing like those. Similar but with several more parts. Regardless of what’s wrong it’s a great idea to get in there to clean it. Mine is 5 years old and was filthy with hair and lint.
My LG wm3987hw 2 in 1 washer/dryer seems to get stuck at the 6 minute mark very often on the dry cycle and just keeps drying the clothes even though they are wayyyyy dry enough... actually to hot to even hold them. This sounds like the item that may remedy it... but your video for install is not friendly for my model. FYI, no error codes reported by the machine.
How do u confirm that the thermistor is the culprit? I checked all the thermostats, flame igniter, and solenoids. All has continuity. Vent and housing cleaned. My Gas dryer does heat up but not holding, it shuts off after it reached some temperature prematurely. I have taken the thermostats and checked when it triggers, all at right temp setting at 300F. Could it be the Moisture Sensor or This Thermistor? Dryer is ran without using the sensor dry (Time Dry) and it's still not drying the clothes enough. PLEASE Help.
ALL THAT WORK TO GET TO A PLUG AND A SCREW!!! THEY SHOULD'VE HAD A LITTLE MORE FORESIGHT REGARDING THIS SHITSHOW WHEN ENGINEERING THIS MASTERPIECE! LOL!
I def repeat the kudos on the helpful vid. Thank you!!! Just a quick question, tho, as i just ordered a new thermistor... does the tE2 definitely mean it's the thermistor that needs replacing? ... or is there a potential there's another culprit for the error message? ... basically asking if I will find myself dumboundedly staring at a completely reassembled dryer with a lovely tE2 message staring back at me?
I could be one of the other thermostats as well. The best way to determine what to replace is to test the thermostats and thermistor with a multimeter.
Can you do one for Miele ? Miele charges £125.oo to come fix it. Last time it happened, an hour before the worker was due to come, I tried the machine and it worked. It was too late to cancel the worker's coming, when he came he said, that "better to check the cause of the thing stopping". He said it is normal for the thing to detect wetness, the wetness may dry up, thereby permitting the device to work again, without the need to call a technician. Very upsetting that it should break down, I had been drying a towel, the last thing that I did; the fault only happened when I went to wash something else. . Thanks for posting your video, it stopped me from going mad. . o0o
You can change the thermistor throught the vent hole without taking everything apart. Unfortunately that didn't fix mine and I bought a new one because I didn't feel like buying a new washer as well. They are stacked . 4 yrs old only LG sucks

People are more like to pay a repair man and pay more to have someone else do it so they make it more difficult and menacing to do yourself

Grateful, all the steps are still basically the same in 2024
Agree I am currently working on mine 😊

I was wondering if this was similar enough to the dlec855w model?
what is the one white thing under the thermistor call?
You have checked old thermistor ohm & new ?

What is mean E1 error? Can u explain me?
Step 1: disassemble your entire machine…

Hello ! Do you know what this error code is for ? an Upside down capital F, then a capital E, and the last, a capital backwards E
Sounds like a tE3 code?
You have check thermistor ohms
Thank you come again

No sorry Rory, but with this video you got this!
I can. Do you live in MN. You can do it Rory! :)
She's smokin' hot dude! You missed your chance!
I’d rather buy a new machine than go through ALL that!! 😢
I would just buy a new dryer.
No power at all
