On the prep side it looks as if you can pop battery out just by pulling on the top and separate it from it’s case then it looks as if you could disconnect the battery from the ignition element for a more Macgyver style do what ever you want kind of lighter if you know what I mean. And on the down side it looks as if the terminals are melting a little after very little use. I am now trying to clean them which is making them a bit loose but they still work. Hopefully that helps you y’all some one out there.
I’ve never laughed so much about a cons list. Excellent review. There’s something about the sound of a zippo opening/closing that will always make it my favorite.
Lol im glad you can appreciate my sense of humor. I love the sound as well but my wife's moms dog hates it as she must be part Frankenstein and hates fire. How have you been??? I really hope everything was successful and yall are on the upside of this whole thing

I mean...tacticool ferro rods only light certain things. They're completely pointless. Their only purpose is to make people feel more special for getting a simple fire lit. Just buy a damn lighter! lol. These are ideal for smokers. They're not for campfires. Though you could just carry tinder around like you have to anyway with ferro rods. Edit. Ohhh. you mean THOSE certain things! Actually, you can get arc lighters that have an optional butane torch, which is ideal for those things
They just don't want you to keep it in the car because the battery doesn't like it. That applies for all things that have a lithium batteries, so any phone shouldn't be left in a car for several reasons, but that doesn't mean that you don't leave it there sometimes.
@@ashscott6068 What makes a product with the word tacticool added to the package makes it tacticool? I have learned that when the word tacticool is used, the gung-ho dumbass types jumps right on it. I brought one in 2017. Picked it back up in 2023 without charging it, still working. This lighter will light fires for 10 years if you charge it. No flint replacements, no breaking. These lighters are the best.
Pretty sure why you can’t leave in areas above 120 Fahrenheit is that lithium ion battery. Another YTer was claiming that you could have unlimited lights as long as you had solar panels. Oof 😣. Glad you point out the quality. That is my one big gripe about electrical items for survival. I don’t necessarily have a problem with Chinese manufacturers, for the reasons you point out, it’s just if there is an American manufacturer, even at a somewhat higher price I prefer to support them. Just look at the whole mask thing.
It's expensive at $20 and it still uses outdated microUSB charging, but as of Oct 2023 Zippo makes an electric arc insert for its lighters. So, you can retrofit the arc convenience into your metal Zippo shell ... maintaining the Zippo sound and feel.
Was just thinking about the plastic case.. It has to be plastic as its an Arc lighter. 😂.. a metal case would increase the risk of receiving a nasty tingle. I assume the waterproof nature means it can work even in wet conditions(electrodes having been wet). Assuming you dry water/moisture from the case and around the electrodes to prevent the nasty tingle. Have purchased one of these before watching the video, so will be testing it. Bought one due to the slow growing difficulty of finding matches and disposable "bic" butane lighters in Australia. We can buy the refillable kitchen lighters, buying the refills and adapters is not so easy. Gas kitchen appliances and smoking are almost dead here. Even camping stoves are going with piezoelectric igniters. Of course, can use a camping gas stove to light another medium to light the campfire. 😊
For your truck . . . a box or two of matches in a glad bag in the glove box still works just fine. I found one of these plasma lighters in a trash can, of all places. I thought it was a butane lighter at first but didn't see where to fill it and the search led me here. I appreciate the review and I guess I have a new toy to play with. In all honesty, I'd never heard of a "Plasma" lighter until just a few minutes ago. Thanks for the video!
the reason why high temperatures are not good for this device is because it wil melt the contacts... Same is true of people who leave taser cartridges in their car...
Bought one several weeks ago. It worked great for a week. Charged it for use on 2 separate trips, and it failed to work for more than 2 lights each time.
this lighter is great.. but for my bong i prefer to keep my good old gas burner.. it works like a small flamethrower.. friends have often torched their eyebrows with it
Nice! Only one aspect not covered: How many cigarettes can I light up per charge? And no other videos cover it. Is it 10? (In which case useless), is it 30? Is it 200?
From a survival/camping situation is it good? Can I hook up a camper's solar panel and charge it? Can I start a camp fire? If I can recharge it in the wild with a solar panel I'd say it is a winner. I ain't no smoker no how.
I notice there are improved models of this available now where the plasma arc is located on top of the lighter rather than bridging across a gap as in this model.
Glad I watched this, I gave up the devil lettuce about 8 months ago, but I smoke cigars. I rarely smoke stogies, but my preferred cigar is a backwoods port. I am hopeful that this lighter will work with this brand of cigars because they have a rough cut end, and lots of loose tobacco hanging out, which I think will light with this lighter. So I think I’ll give it a try. I have a question though, do you know how long this lighter will last with constant use? I have purchased refillable butane torch lighters, and I find that the lighter stops working before the butane cylinder is empty.
I also live in SC, if you want to leave the lighter in your vehicle, take a washcloth, fold it in half and wrap the lighter in it and put in the glove box. That should give it enough insulation to not overheat.

I haven't found the perfect lighter yet...another negative is those things don't hold a charge a long time...those things suck.
This ones pretty good so far. Curious to see how the battery degrades over a long period of time but as for now it lights 10x more than a butane
@@PalmettoPrepared I bought a similar product, it didn't keep a charge a long time, nothing beats a ferro rod...I have had a ferro rod save the day more than once.
@@MosaicHomestead i enjoy my ferro rods. But i think an arc lighter still has its place
@@PalmettoPrepared I totally agree, so far the best one I have had has been a butane one, but it had the same problem your talking about that one, the housing was cheap plastic , after the third broke, I stopped buying them.
yeah i only smokeweed sothatwoul'dnt work for me nope i just use bics or any lighter i just wanted to see a review b/c i saw the ad online ilke you
How are these for lighting joints and rolled cigarettes, large cigars etc? (Not bowls or pipes etc.)
It’s great. Im not sure about cigar though but plasma lighter tend to provide you with hotter flame in general.
Good review!
Thanks Steve
Thanks great review!!!
Too vid, thanks for sharing
Can you even light a camping stove of something like that?
Yep
Thank you.
Great review man. 👍
Survival pac hunting knife with hollow handle, fishing line, branch cutter wire, basic 1st aid, aaa batteries & foil you’ve got a power source.
Q. Most powerful survival tool?
A, 🧠 knowledge
Agreed. Knowledge is the it factor. It's also a wonderful tool to keep your pack light and keep your options open
is that your yard or youre at a park thats like a forest
Thank you! Amazing video and research. You are subscribed. I appreciate you!!!! And about this lighter I learned some needs to know and it seems like you expressed good not great however mostly convenient backup kinda the same as matches. Lol have an amazing day with and on purpose!!! ❤
Thank you ...
i disagree. those e-lighters are amazing. they can light almost anything and also give of bright light if you are in a cave or very dark areas and last a very very long time like im talking about days at a time if you just keep it on its crazy. also the light will keep bad people and animals away from you.
$15 dollars I almost purchased it for $39. Where did u buy it for $15
I got it on Amazon. There should be a link in my video description
👍
😂(that’s out, too)
Hmm, maybe I’ll look into that. Aside from lighting my cigars I’ve preferred matches
Everything is made in China. You can mitigate, but it’s hard to do. Even nuts and blots at your local hardware stores are made in China. I bet the parts for zippo and bic are made in China
Chuckles
Ha! 🤛 nice little jab 😂👍
It sure does seem like everything comes from somewhere in Asia. If not China then Taiwan. Thats one of things that annoys the hell out of me. "Made in the USA... with globally sourced materials" i see that often
And you know me, gotta pick at the low hanging fruit lol
Palmetto Prepared
Agreed
If it says "made in Vietnam " it means "made by china in Vietnam"
$15 is too high, $12 at the big river place. CON 5: NO CHARGE METER TO KEEP TRACK OF POWER LEVEL.
