@@alexshatner3907 As long as you are using the factory ecu, it should be plug and play. The ecu should take care of making the necessary adjustments of the throttle body.
Great video, I had watched scorpion Multimedias video, and he had done a decent job at explaining but you really blew it out of the water, been meaning to do this with my Yaris, and your video makes me confident I can do it. Keep up the good work
Thanks! Yeah his video did a good job of explaining things, but I figured I would document the entire process from start to end. Many people, including myself, are visual learners and can easily pick up once we see how its done, hence why I made the video the way it is.
@@arvin_arn When you replace it with a new one, is it just plug and play and boom the car runs like new? or do you need special computers or equipment to calibrate it??
I like the throttle response i got from the swap. It took me a good bit of trial and error to get the idle in the ball park. I still have times where it revs too high or too low depending on the situation but i can live with it. Im going to ooen up the intake behind the throttle body next . The whole is still smaller then the 1zz diameter.
Yeah I have the same problem with it revving high on cold startups but i'm also ok with it. Luckily my exhaust isn't too loud so I don't have to worry about waking up my neighbors every morning before work 🤣
Just completed my Swap, I used a 2rz-fe throttle body and swapped the elctronics over, I also made a little intake tube, I cut two intake boots in half and used both the large edns with the pipe in the new intake pipe in the middle so it fit correctly and had the right oil breather direction. Love the mods keep it coming!
You could have poured boiling water on the throttle body before turning the pipes , aluminium will expand more than the steel pipes . This is also good for freeing seized brake pistons in callipers .🙂
Man…I was thinking about selling my 2008 Yaris and get something to mod. But your channel gave me a new spark to do it with it (deep in my heart I love that car) Question is, is that really a good investment in this specific model? Also, any groups or so to get ideas from? Man…my wallet is not happy with me finding your channel lol
I'll be honest and say the aftermarket scene for this model is very limited. Most people who tune/modify these cars are over in Asia where the Vios is pretty popular. Here in the states, not much interest so it's hard to find aftermarket parts. Of course there are the forums of yarisworld that have a good amount of info, and we also have a fb group to try and get more people involved so we can get more aftermarket support.
i put 2zr throttle body in my 1nz , i already installed 1zz throttle but my rpm went very high in cold start , 1nz is the best engine ever 230kmh in stock 1nz part installed 1)vvti rs 1nz 2)Mazda Maf sensor (ZL01 model) 3)Intake manifold 1nz rs (short than normal 1nz) 4)Fuel Injector RS/TRD from 1nz or you can put camry injector
hello. whats the point of larger throtlle body with the same diameter intake hose? get a larger intake hose that fits outside the throtlle body for more air !!
If you are talking about the stock air filter in the Yaris, I would honestly just make sure to replace it regularly. I didn't see any improvement from different brands of filters, including the K&N drop in filter. Regular cleaning/replacement will do just fine.
Hello, I have a Toyota Avensis T25 1.6 2008 Manual 5 Speed 3ZZ-FE. Today I made a swap Throttle Body from Toyota Avensis T25 1.8 2008 1ZZ-FE. I also changed the hose from 1.8 because the hose from 1.6 didn't fit on the 1ZZ Throttle Body. I disconnected the negative battery when I did the process than put it back again when finished. The car was revving up and down to learn the 1ZZ Throttle Body, but now it idle at 1000 rpm. Before was idling at 650/700 rpm. What could it be? Thank you.
So far, based on me daily driving this car, it hasn't changed how often I fill up gas. I'll need to do a little more testing to see if my mpg has dropped
I've done the same install successfully, but this ECU relearning is taking so long that I'm starting to feel that my ECU isn't as smart as i thought lol. Its been days now. Can you help me out. What have you done so far to get it to normalize? Or is anyone else here gotten it dialed down? I'm thinking about manually adjusting the IAC to see a lower idle, but needed to check if someone's got a better way to dial this thing down before I turn that screw. Thank you!!!
You need to manually adjust that throttle position screw on the throttle body itself. There is a blob of resin covering that screw, scrap that resin off and adjust it.
Personnaly, I did a swap with a 2000 corolla throttle body and its aluminum intake manifold (had to machine a phenolic spacer, and slotted the holes of the manifold) and added a scion xB rs3.0 cold air to it. Hardest part was adjusting the phenolic spacer's contour so it fits, the sensors/hoses are all plug and play. (I'm no mechanic and I have a backup car and it was nerve-wrecking, but the satisfaction when it started... priceless.) Battery relocation and throttle cable bracket on to-do list, but so far it was an 8-hours job for me. Not sure I recommend yet. (2005 echo rs hb, for ref.)
did u have to do anything with the ECU when u made any of these mods with the air filter and throttle body? ive got an 09 yaris hatchback and want to do the same thing
I didn't need to do anything to my ecu after swapping the throttle body. As long as you disconnect the battery prior to doing this, the yaris ecu will relearn and adjust to the new throttle body
Hey Arvin or who ever may know, will doing this make it so you don't pass the visual smog test for inspection? In the comments on Rassool Racings vids he said that you wouldn't pass with this mod. I'm living in New York and I think he's from California and not sure if there standards are different.
Each state has their own requirements for car inspections. I live in Hawaii and we don't have smog inspections so I don't have to worry about this. I would check your specific state if they require a smog test before doing this swap.
I'm gonna give it a try and see what happens during my inspection this year. Might also check with a local mechanic. But anyways thanks for the helpful install video! @@arvin_arn
My guess is that it transfers the heat of the coolant to the air so the throttle body butterfly doesn't get stuck/frozen in cold weather, just a guess though.
@arvin_arn Hi Arvin, im late to the party but great tutorial video, loved how you covered everything in one video. wanted to ask if there is a way i can raise my idle RPM on these electronic throttle bodies. much appreciated. watching you from Sultanate of Oman. peace!
There is a small screw that is covered by epoxy that allows you to adjust the idle RPM. Just need to remove the epoxy and have a screwdriver small enough to make adjustments.
