You could do a video on how soundboom, its live and Lee Mujin all use pitch correction at different levels. I believe It’s live is the worst based on Twice’s performance (pitch didn’t move an inch for like 30 minutes) but I’d be interested in your take. Also, are encores really live, like Nmixx Encore Love me like this?
I think everyone knows nmixx use post production on their songs, MV, Performance video or sht like that everyone does. but when people say nmixx sing live is they just sing live literally. and when people say they sing live with raw vocals, then they just literally mean they sing live with raw vocals. but regardless. to be able to be atleast 95%-99% as the studio version is amazing in itself.
Every Offical MV or AUDIO are using pitch correction. But the raw vocal recording must be as precise as possible and the producer just make a very tiny pitch-correction to keep the natural sound.
@madvoador1 thanks, this was my first youtube video. Editing takes ages! Now I understand why so many youtubers just talk to camera :) This is just for fun though, and I don't want to be on camera
This is an interesting video. It is true that auto tune is often used in music production, as long as it is not used too obviously but just to clean up some fault or for artistic reasons there is no harm . But for the vibrato I think it's normal that it's not one hundred percent precise because it's the principle of vibrato we make the note vibrate between two frequencies. However, for this i prefere when it's natural without auto tune sometime when it's not perfect it's transmit more emotion
@sbng3958 thanks, I will need to be clearer about the distinction between vibrato and pitch correction visually, it's not about how flat the line is on the note, but how consistent and straight the average is through the vibrato. Maybe I should make a video visually exploring that!
3:31 tbf in the case of NMIXX (specially this song) is for a aesthetic reasons, not that they can't sing it live Its to give a sound of hopelessness/void, since the title says it, "Love is so Lonely", that empty tone gives its charm to the song
@jadebayoba7073 that's a very good point. Personally, I still wish they'd left Bae's voice alone, i think she can carry the emotion without artificial help and i prefer the second version. But, I hadn't considered it might be a production choice for just part of a performance for aesthetics. Thanks.
@@NoteNavigator NMIXX has been known for years by now to sound exactly like studio, if not better, they're quite literally the 4th Gen MAMAMOO's, Bae's voice is SO good, her flexibility and vocal technique makes her sound so good on live more than studio, Love is so Loney, Dash and See That? sound so good live just alone with her voice
@amarjauhar5488 yeah, I know it's obvious - it's just there for comparison against the more live versions. For example, if you play the isolated vocals from the MV and the "it's live" versions they're almost identical! Also, some ppl really think MVs aren't pitch corrected - even if it is obvious to you and me. Thanks for the comment, I'll make it clearer if I'm including an MV just for a baseline in the future

I did watch the vid you mentioned, and you're right there's some *really* bum notes in there way more than a few Hz off, it's pretty bad. The mistake you're making is called the "black of white" logical fallacy (or the false dilemma) which states that one of two things must be true, whereas in reality neither might be true or there might be room in the middle. Also, you're mixing in the "composition" fallacy. To be specific you're argument is absolutist, it's that since there's evidence where they missed entire notes (true) you're saying they can't sing (false). My argument is that there's room in the middle: very, very, few singers have perfect pitch, and I'd be willing to bet every single one of them has done a few performances where they've been out of tune even by whole notes. That doesn't mean they can't sing - but by your absolutist rules that would mean there are no singers in the whole world. Additionally, the whole point of this analysis is that you can visually see when there's pitch correction and when there isn't - it's not opinion it's fact. My key point is I'd rather hear it real with little errors because it makes it human. You're right though that there are levels of pitch correction, it's not as simple as autotune vs. not, there can be a lot of nuance in manual pitch correction (excellently explained by the audio engineer elsewhere in the comments). You agreed with me that "they don't have to hit 100% of the time" but now you're moving the goalposts to an arbitrary amount of Hz off-tuneness that you've decided is acceptable or not. That's fine for taste and what you find acceptable, but it simply does not follow that because someone makes mistakes sometimes they cannot sing. That's absolutist and just wrong. It's not like maths (another black of white absolutist fallacy), singing is more nuanced and affected by many other things. Typically people's pitch is significantly affected by being drunk or tired, whereas very basic maths isn't - their ability to do something more skilful like multiple differentiation might be though! You're also repeatedly exhibiting the "strawman" fallacy - misrepresenting someone's argument to make it easier to attack. You've twice attacked me for the argument "they're just having fun so that why they're not singing well", but... er... I never said that. You're having an imaginary argument with someone in your head that isn't me, and then being angry with me about things I didn't say. Finally, you're attacking me and telling me to grow up - that's a bit silly, especially when your bio line is "we are all five years old on the inside" and you know nothing about me.
