I thought that it was impossible for him to reach 700 halfway through the season. Then he started hitting like it was 2005 out of nowhere. What a fantastic moment.

I think the Albert self-hug was a sign of wanting to hug the LA fans. He said himself that his time on the Dodgers reinvigorated his love for the game a bit.
The hugs he gave out on the Dodgers became a bit of a meme last year. Everyone in LA loves Tio Albert. We know he's a Cardinal first, but it was awesome to have him even for a year.
Fr the angels did him dirty. I’m glad the dodgers picked him up to give him that last motivation.

TRUTH
I played in a college golf tournament with his son in Las Vegas. I wasn’t keeping his score and he introduced himself as AJ not Albert Pujols Jr. so I thought nothing more of it. It was a cold and windy day and I saw his parents were following him around which isn’t weird so again I thought nothing of it. They were both dressed to the teeth because of the temp so it was hard to recognize him. Long story short I was just talking with this guy for the whole day. He helped us find golf balls and went in front of us to watch them down. Super down to earth guy and I had no idea it was the man himself till my coach told me after the round. Best collegiate experience I ever had.

Pujol's wife backed into my uncle's friend's car, she apparently was super apologetic about the whole thing, despite most of the damage being done to her car
Watched this game live, the atmosphere for every at bat that Albert was absolutely insane, nothing that I’ve ever experienced before. You could hear from the crack of the bat that it was going to be a homer, the crowd went absolutely nuts, I’ve never heard a crowd that loud in my life. Even at an away game, Dodgers fans were cheering because they just witnessed baseball history.
Also, Pujols had been a Dodger last year, a Angel before that. We still like him in LA.
Reminds me when we were watching Albert Belle, as Indians fans, after he was traded to the White Sox and playing the Indians for the first time. Every at bat was tense.
You should come see a playoff game in St Louis

Yes, that was special. As it should be. The fact he did it in Dodgers Stadium was special to us Dodgers fan. Albert was here a short time but he was loved by his teammates and fans.

Grew up watching Pujols as he's one of my first baseball memories. Was really looking out for his 700th. Saw his 699th. Got ready for work, had MLB loaded on my phone and all to watch at work, got there and saw I had missed it while I was getting ready. Can't describe how bummed I was during the whole shift and next day. That all said, congrats to Pujols for 700 and those who saw the home run!

But if there's a game on I'll probably pay attention, and I do really enjoy an exciting, close game. I'd rather watch my team lose a 5-4 nail biter than win a 20-1 blowout. Probably why I enjoy jomboy so much, it's just a bunch of the exciting and quirky bits condensed into a short video.

I am the Cardinals fan a few feet behind where 699 landed. Ask me anything. To start, the whole outfield stood up for his first three at bats. The walkway where 699 landed (which is supposed to be free of standees) was crowded from people from who knows where. It was an electric atmosphere. Los Angeles really loves him. It was special to see.
I was in Angel stadium when he hit 600. Such a special moment. This is even better. Thanks Jomboy!

You have some potentials if they can stay healthy. Harper, Trout, and Machado are around half way and 29-31 years old. Devers is about 1/4 of the way there at 25. Trout was on track for the all-time record until the COVID season and last year's injury. I believe we'll see it sooner with the universal dh in play. Fewer chances for injury.
