As a Cardinals fan I wish he had done it in St. Louis, but I am also grateful that the Dodgers treated him well last year and showed how to use him. His time with the Angels was painful.

He was a Dodger a short time but he was very well lived and respected. Truly a class act
He only played for us for one season, but he had a huge impact on the chemistry of this Dodger ballclub. That's why he gestured to the Dodger bench with a hug. That was his thing last year. We loved him. We called him Tio Albert. So happy for him. It couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

As a Pirates fan and knowing he hit probably 100 of those off of us, it was a standing ovation well deserved. That swing was as pure and smooth hitting 700 as it was hitting number 1. HOFer incoming

The standing ovation he got, from hitting that 700th home run, will go down in history, as the best respect to a MLB Player, in the history of the sport. Pujols was my all time favorite player when I was younger, and to know, that he is now part of that elite club, is absolutely astonishing. Congratulations Albert, you 100% deserve the praise and admiration, to join the elites of the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame 🥳🥳🥳
at 7:05 he looks at the Dodger bench and expresses his gratitude and appreciation to them. It was the Dodgers who believed in him when they made the call to his agent after the Angels released him. Most in baseball thought he was done and in his own words it was the Dodgers who brought the kid and spark back to the game of baseball for him. He succeeded with them last year and honestly I think he did well enough to get one last contract with his original team. He reaches the 700 club wearing a Cardinals uniform at Dodger stadium where the fans understood the moment and reciprocated the appreciation. Shakespeare couldn't have written a better story then this. Congratulations Albert "Tio" Pujols for reaching that incredible milestone.

i was born in '99, raised mostly in St. Louis. i was fortunate enough to witness his prime firsthand during my most formative years. guys like Yadi, Waino, Matt Holliday, and especially Albert were responsible for me falling in love with the game to begin with.

Albert Pujols is the greatest baseball player of all time. Congrats Pujols 700 club and still going
I love albert but i dont think hes top 5 of all time strictly because of speed and being a first baseman. Its no disrespect either the man is a beast. But guys like mays, and griffey for example are 600 home run clubs members and are serial gold glovers at cf which is a harder position in my opinion to field. Mays also was a base stealer early in his career, a lifetime .300 hitter, and a 3000 hit club member. But truly thats all just personal opinion, fact is pujols is amongst the greatest and a bonafide legend in baseball
I also will say I think baseball may be the hardest sport to claim a goat in. I mean ruth, mantle, mays, griffey, bonds (i know peds hurt him), aaron, pujols, cobb, musial, ted williams, and thats without getting into the dominant pitchers like koufax, randy johnson, clemens, maddux, carlton, martinez. Its long history and the basics of stats and the game rarely changing much like the nfl, or nba make it so that so many guys are near the top of the list.

Growing up across the river from St.Louis in a small boring town on the Illinois side just 15 minutes from Busch and watching this legend making my childhood into adulthood amazing as far as a sports fan goes! And to see him get the 700th in a Cards Uni is Beautiful! Like one big circle and the next step is the HOF
I can’t imagine how many text/calls he received that night. He has brought so many wonderful memories and played the game with respect. He is an ambassador for the game. Congratulations!!

@@mhmh2493 In May last year the Angels DFA'd Pujols and after he cleared Waivers the Dodgers picked him up as a free agent for the rest of the season to be a fill in Firstbaseman and pinch hitter.

I'm so happy to see Albert get to 700. Doing it in a Cardinals jersey just seems right. I can't think of a more fitting final season for a historic career. Hopefully, St Louis can make a long postseason run for Pujols, Molina, & Waino.

@Jason Cramer I think also cause Pujols played well for the Dodgers in his time there and also has stated that being on the Dodgers one was that their organization is first class and that being on the Dodgers really helped bring back his love and joy for the game.

Sports can be magical, when players do and achieve things that cement them in certain categories that we knew they belong in its a joy ro watch! Baseball fans knew what Pujols was! There were some great series against the Astros back then. Those were some of my favorite to go to when they were in the same division. As a Cardinals fan, I immediately remember the Lidge game. (I imagine plenty of Astros fans do the same but with far different feelings about it.) The Killer B's were lethal & fun to watch. Biggio always seemed to have St Louis's number.

I was convinced there was no way he was going to do it at the beginning of the season but man has the St. Louis post all-star game break magic happened once again. I'm so happy he did it.

I am not a Cardinals fan but I admire Albert Pujols and I am so happy he is in the 700 club! Glad he did it in LA where he is loved and respected by the fans. This is a very emotional moment for him and I too feel emotional in a happy way just watching his historic achievements. I will miss him and Molina when they retire. They were having issues long before that, it was just finalized during that time. He still stayed and helped with everything despite all of that.
The fact that he hit 700 he is a phenomenal feat and to do it with the team that drafted him is amazing.
Goosebumps. Got me tearing up. Living in OC, Cali. Watched Albert Pujols play ball from his first at bat with the Cards to every summer with The Halo's and his 700th homeruns. Legendary ball player.

Albert isn’t just a home run hitter, he’s played 22 seasons, has a .296 lifetime avg, over 2200 RBIs, almost 3400 hits, batted over .300 his first 11 years with several years being over .350, Rookie of the Year, 3 MVPs, multiple Gold Gloves and Silver Sluggers, 9 playoff appearances 6 being NLCS , 3 World Series and 2 World Series wins…. Just a home run hitter? He’s the best player of this generation and easily one of the all time greats. (Let’s also not forget this is in a much more difficult era where competition isn’t just white guys from the United States but a global game with the most finely tuned athletes that ever lived)
For me Ichiro was a better all around player. Most hits ever and 17 Gold gloves, but obviously Pujols is a better power hitter.

I remember his first home run with the Peoria Chiefs before going to the MLB. We are beyond proud here in Peoria, IL. Such an amazing person all around. Well deserved
