  • Did you know that up to 80% of people with hypermobility disorders report feeling more stiff than an average person?
How do you know if your hamstrings are too short?
It depends on your activity level and the movement demands of your everyday life. It is different if you are a gymnast, one of the Rockettes, or a lawyer spending 12 hours sitting at a desk.
In my practice, for hamstring flexibility, I follow the guidelines of the father of physiatry and sports medicine, Dr. Hans Kraus: straight leg raise to 80 degrees and the ability to touch the toes. If you pass these two screening tests, you only need to try to elongate* your hamstrings if your sport, dance, or other activities demand more flexible hamstrings. Otherwise, don't stretch!

I have hEDS and am often sore! I love my Yoga practice, but weightlifting and resistance training at end ROM has made my body feel so much better ❤
