Library Book Cart Upcycled Into a Steam Train

In 2013, two coworkers and I transformed a library book cart into a steam train you could actually ride inside for a parade in honor of Florida's 500th anniversary.
We upcycled a cardboard refrigerator box, barrel, tubes, plastic PVC pipes, hubcaps, a battery-powered push light, strips of aluminum, a real handbell, and other materials. The lettering was hand-cut with an X-ACTO knife.
For the steam effect, we used blocks of dry ice and hot boiling water in a bowl placed at the top of the smokestack. I filmed and edited this video with an old version of iMovie. Enjoy!
